I'm from Australia so I have no idea what is happening in the US but I can certainly speak for all of Australia when I say that the Backstreet Boys are the most popular band here. All the mags refer to them as the biggest pop group in the world today. They get number one's on countdowns here more than any other artisit or group. No offense to NSYNC but This I promise You has been then biggest flop in Australia, I have not once heard it played on the radio during the day, only a few times at night when it gets on to the countdown, but it hasn't been on it in about 5 weeks or more than that. The DJ's even commented that the reason that they don't play it is cos no one votes for it!!!! When the Boys came here recently they were on every single news channel, they were on A Current Affair, these are programs that never have anything on band coming to Australia. I have never seen bands on ACA accept if it was for like ABBA or something legendary like that. It shows that they have SO much respect here, and so many fans, they made a new record for the most people at an instore where as apparently NSYNC only could get 3000, BSB got over 6000. Backstreet have achieved world domination, something NSYNC will still be dreaming about in 20 years time. For one thing, it took BSB 5 years to come out in the states. In Europe and Canada they have been here since 1995-1996. The only reason nsync became popular is because the little fans wanted the bubblegum pop, what nsync is, while the older fans wanted REAL music, aka BSB. Nsync can't even harmonize or sing live. I've seen them in concert, unfortunately, and i was SO bored I took off and wandered around the venue. The guy who looks like a weasle, i think its chris, sounds like a 5 years old girl. He's what, 29 and STILL hasn't hit puberty. Their c.d should have been called No Dicks attached. Cause well... you figure it out.
