The Call

Well I saw "The Call" and I really love it! I love it how I notice some more things everytime I watch it, kinda like I did with "The One." From the beginning- did everyone notice how it looked like Jennifer Lopez's "Waiting For Tonight" with the green lazers? That was kinda cool. Ok first of all, lemme tell how I thought each guy looked.

AJ- Very good! I was diggin' the cornrows! The outfit was very cool too.

Brian- Umm...I didn't really like the outfit, just cuz it's not his style really, but it fit in with the rest of them, so that was cool! He still looked really sweet though, hehe, even though he was trying to look tough!

Nick- Luv it, luv it, luv it!!! He looked great in this video!

Howie- He looked very good, and he plays a great villain! =)

Kevin- What can I say about him, I have disliked his look since he grew out his hair, and I STILL don't like it. He looks like a shaggy dog! Come on Kevin, please, please cut your hair! You were so hot before! Now your nose looks really big, and you look really scruffy!

Ok, back to the video...I really like at the beginning how it goes to the phone and the battery goes out, AWESOME!!! I really like how they look up at the billboard and the members are Xed out, great effect! This video is really fun to watch, and my favorite part is when Howie rips off the mask and is the girl! I find that really funny for some reason! Anyway, great video boys, definetly worthy of a MTV Video Music Award!

Ever since I learned that the video for The Call was going to premiere on MTV, I was so psyched. I'm thankful that they decided to create a video for this song because it's a new thing for us---the fans and for them as well. The theme of the song is more serious and a whole lot darker from what we're used to seeing and hearing from them. Even before I saw the video, I've been hearing small details of what the video was going to look like. I thought that I was prepared to see it but when I finally saw it in its entirety I was blown away. I must congratulate the backstreetboys, the director and everyone who was involved in the creation of the video because it is by far, the best video from them.

The concept of the song was clearly presented through the video that seeing the video was like watching an action packed movie. I noticed that they've incorporated a little bit of The Matrix in the music video which made it even better. I do have my own favorite parts from the video and one of them is the part where Howie was in the car with Nick and he was giving him a scary look coz it foreshadowed what was going to happen next---turning out that Howie was actually the girl wearing a mask. I also liked the part where Brian was being chased by bullets (with the whole Matrix effect). I love it just for the action but I don't wanna see that happen to any of them or anyone in general. It's no wonder that Nick gave the best performance because he used to be an actor. I give him major props for his best acting performance yet. I hope to see more edgier videos from them like this one.

I'm not sure who came up with the concept for the video but I think that Kevin, Howie, AJ, Brian and Nick had something to do with it because it captured their personality, both as a group and as individuals. Great ground-breaking videos always capture the personality of the artists and from what I saw, the video was all that and more.

OK. The long awaited video that illistrates the call was suprisingly well thought out and planned. I was expecting to see another Bye Bye Bye type video, but this was nothing like it. The girl they picked as the love intrest or as I say, the affair interest was simple gorgeous. I want to know who she is.

Anyway, starting with AJ in the club came to no suprise seeing how that's his home away from home. I really didn't want a visual of him and the love interest kissing. That was just wrong. Not because he kissed her but because it wasn't me!

Brian came next in the supermarket. I like the way they switched from Brian to AJ. It was very smooth. Brian cracked me up with the faces he made but his running was just darn hilarious. Sorry, but it was.

Nick was next. Typical Nick gets lost and has to find Howie.. Little does he know The love interest is in disguise as Howie. NICE TWIST! I'm loving the looks Howie gives Nick while he's driving the car. CLASSIC! I think Howie is the only person who not chasing the chick. Makes me wonder if he wanted to be the chick. JUST KIDDING!

Kevin is last. Was this particular section of the video a reminder of a movie that came out about a year ago called The Matrix? I thought so with the roof jumping and into a window type action sequence. It was nice though. I like the way the room looked with the words, "fruad, scumbag, and dog" were painted everywhere. Nice touch for a girl who seems to be a little psychotic.

The ending was a bit lame though. I wanted the girl to get the guys all together and greet the real girlfriend with men in tow. That would have been awesome. Maybe give each other a high five or something. You know, girl power and all.

All in all, I liked the video. Nice concept. Dark, moody. Unlike the regular BSB videos u see. This one showed real growth. I'm liking the new artistic growth these guys are doing. It's refreshing.

PEACE, LOVE, AND HAPPINESS

WOW! The Backstreet Boys have struck back, and they're definitly larger than life. The new video, The Call, is Backstreet like you've never seen em before!!! I love every part of the video, and the idea of them not lip syncing, purely acting, is BRILLIANT. I love the twists in the plot, and I absolutely LOVE how the guys act and look in the video!!! AJ's part is so hot, I love the phone close up of the battery icon... excellent special effects! And the whole good girl/bad girl thing is awesome! I love the part w/ Brian in the supermarket, and how he sees this food cart kinda just rolling along slowly like there had just been people in there and then they vanished!!!

OOh, that's something else I love about the video, how everyone has mysteriously disappeared... great idea! Nick's part is sooooo amazing, he looks better than ever, and I am soooo impressed w/ his acting! He looks so good at the first scence of him right after he 'changes' from being Brian. And I love the scene where he's washing his face! And Howie's part is so unexpected, I love how Nick looks at him in the mirror and he's the girl and then he rolls out of the car!! Ah, sooo cool!! And then the car crashes and Kev comes out. My fave part of Kevin's scene is that cool room, with all the graffitti saying CHEATER! and LIAR! and FRAUD!, that is so cool! And then the end is so hot, how all the people who 'dissappeared' suddenly appeared w/ the good girl... and Backstreet was left standing there, GUILTY OF CHEATING. It is so cool! But I saved the best for last.... the 'X's on the guys in a couple of scenes, I thought that was brilliant and sooooooooo cool!!!! It was such great effects!! I love the video, my favorite one from Backstreet DEFINITLY!

This was a video that would make ANYONE stop and say, "They're the bomb!"

"The Call" starts with AJ on the phone of course, and he leaves this rave party with some girl who asks the fatal question: "I got a little place nearby, wanna go?" In the limo that they're leaving in, they kiss until the car gets caught in traffic, where the girl jumps out the car and runs away. AJ chases her, and as he leaves the terminal, or whatever the place is called, he morphs into Brian. On the street, Brian looks up at the "Black & Blue" billboard. Suddenly, rocks start hitting him, so he runs into a nearby store. He lights turn out, carts start roling, and he sees a silhouette running through the aisles. Brian chases it through these double doors which 1)leads to a hotel and 2)is where he morphs into Nick. Nick knocks on a hotel door, and Howie opens up, asks what's going on and lets Nick into the bathroom where he splashes some water onto his face.

Howie comes into the bathroom and says, "Let's go," to where, who knows. (I heard from a friend if you watch closely, you'll see the real Howie somewhere.) Howie is driving down the same place AJ was, and glances over at Nick before he literally throws himself out of the car. He rips his face off, and it's the girl. Nick has to swerve the car before hitting a wall and chases the girl. I can't remember this part very well, but when he throws his head back, it's Kevin. Kevin chases the girl who jumps through one window to get to another building. Kevin takes a moment to pray, probably and then runs through and jumps the same way, landing in a room full of red scribbles on the wall like "betrayal" and what-not. They show a blonde girl, who's probably the same one from the beginning that AJ was talking to, and a herd of other girls. They show all the guys and then the girls again before *click*.

This was the best video ever, and I think that it's gonna be #1 for a LONG time! If you haven't seen it, FIND IT! =D I'm done yacking now. Peace out

much love: Debbie Hawkins

The Call is an AWESOME video. OMG, it was just insane!! At first whe they were showing bits of it on TRL, I thought the beginning looked a lot like Enrique Eglesias' video, but what a twist! It starts out with a girl answeing the phone and A.j does the talking part, and after the phone cuts, he starts walking and then see's this girl dressed in black and she says "I got a little place nearby". The get into a car and start driving, when they get stuck in traffic, and the girl gets out and starts running, and A.j gets out and starts running after her. He jumps over a fence looking thing and becomes Brian, and Brian starts running when he comes near this poster of BSB and suddenly bullet like things start hitting him.

He runs for cover and goes into a supermarket when these things in there just keep moving and then he becomes Nick and Nick's driving or whatever and he goes to Howie. This is the twist. He tells Howie about all these weird stuff(this is all in the hotel), and he washes his face, when Howie gestures Nick to come, and they get in the car and start driving, when Howie looks at Nick, and all of a sudden Nick sees the girl and the girl jumps out(she's driving), and takes of her mask of Howie, Nick looks shocked and he stumbles to drive the car when he becomes Kevin. Then Kevin goes to the same BSB poster Brian went to, to see that all of the guys' faces have been marked as an X.

Then he starts runnning 'cause the girl is chasing him, and they jump buidings. He comes into this room, where things are written all over the wall...bad things. Not cuss words, but bad stuff. He goes out. I don't remember this part very well. I don't know if all of the guys are there or just Kevin, but his girlfriend is standing there with a BUNCH of people. That's it. GREAT VIDEO. GOOD WORK GUYS!!! KTBSPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok heres what I think of each guys thing in the call.

Aj: I think it was weird... Like a bad pardady of rythem devine by enriquie eglasies (sp?) but it was good.

Brian: I think when he saw that poster of the boys and aj and him were crossed out he was like what the... Then got shot! What was it with though? I think it was like revoltionary war musket rounds (thanks to mrs. Marks for drilling them into my head!) and then he ran into the supermarket.

Nick: well it was ok till he went to get howie. And then when he saved the car from crashing. He was a little freaked.

Now howie.

Ok that boy scared me! 2 Howies... 2! The one with the tea was the real howie. The one with nick was the girl!

And last but not least kevin

Ok I can see why I love this part. Can you say the matrix! He jumped out of a window then into another. The writings on the wall no pun intented!

At the end

All the girls they cheated on and the girls they did it with...

All in all I LOVE IT!

OMG this is definetely one of my absolute favorite videos from BSB!!!! Not only is the song great but I am in love with their new video! The first time I watched it I barely even noticed the song because I was so into and interested in whats happening in the video! This is what I rated each section of the video as: (out of 5 stars, 5 being the best)

Song- *****

Plot- *****

Interest- *****

Special effects- *****

Action- *****

Okay, its obvious I like this video and I think its going to do VERY well on the charts. There is only two things I don't like about it: it goes kinda fast so you have to watch really carefully and most likely the second time you watch it you find something you missed the first. And the 2nd one is that they don't sing at all in it! Its just kinda like the music is in the backround. Which is ok I guess. Well anyway overall I gave "The Call" definetely ***** stars!!!!!

Who said famous pop stars can't act?? The Call, from the Backstreet Boys, really kicks Bye, Bye, Bye out of the way. If the *NSYNC-ers think they can pull it off by jumping around a moving train, they'd better think twice! Backstreet has everything! And they can actually act. I think The Call was 100 times better than Titanic, even though it only lasted a little over 3 minutes, and the Boys had acting skills that made Tom Hanks look fake (don't get me wrong, I think Tom is really good too). You can't do better than leaping through a broken window, jumping out of a speeding car, running from bullets, and narrowly missing a huge brick wall in a car going 70 mph. Watching the premiers of The Call and Aaron Carter's "That's How I Beat Shaq" really made my day. Vote for The Call next Friday (Jan.19th) and keep buying Black & Blue! It's down to #15 on the Billboards already. C'mon! Where my girls at?

OMG!! Was that the Backstreet Boys in that video?! That was mt first thought when I saw "The Call"! It was soooo different and so unique to the BOYS! I liked how each BOY transformed to the another. It was cool how it went with the B&B poster!

Going through each of the boys: AJ-Wow he looked so good. I loved how they put it in a club, so he couldn't hear her!

Brian; looked the same as he always does, but I like that. I wonder why they put him in a store to chase the girl instead of some where else? (not saying that it was a bad thing)

Nick looked soooo sexy when he was driving that car, his hair looked good, and I loved the "determination" face.

Howie or the girl they both looked great. I bet Howie loved this because he got to act a little more than the other BOYS!

And last but bot least, Kevin. He was looking extra fine in this video. His hair was out of his face (which I hate when it is in his face, cause I can't see the eyes).

This is far one of my favorite videos, because it showed their acting skills again. I mean, they didn't even sing once! Now that was cool. Overall I would rate this video, on a scale of 1-10, 9.999999999999, because I know there will be better!

Thanks all,

Courtney a.k.a. bsbdancer
