For me, being a fan of BSB is not about number 1 records or beating 'nsync.

I thought the article was very interesting. I hate to hear about all the trials they have been through, but hopefully it has only made them stronger and that strength will get them through. As for Nick's solo cd. It is bad timing in terms of a BSB cd, but it seems to me, that the other members of the group have gotten to make personal decisions and take personal time. Brian and Kevin got married. AJ had to take some time for his mental well-being and go to rehab in the middle of the tour. He has also become engaged. Nick has been a part of this group for almost 10 years now and maybe this is what he needed for his own mental well-being. And maybe the title of the cd is true. Maybe it was Now or Never for him. I hope he will take the time now to record with the guys and give us all a BSB cd as well.

As a HUGE BSB fan for just over three years, I have come to enjoy BSB's music and everything they do. Although BSB has been to hell and back in the last year or so, I still believe that they have what it takes to make it. SO WHAT if Nick wants to try a solo CD? Even if it flops, he still got to do what he's always wanted to do and I am supporting Nick and can't wait until his CD comes out. SO WHAT if BSB released a Greatest Hits CD too soon? If you think about it, BSB aren't really to blame because Jive or somebody pushed them to release it early, according to the article. Besides, Elton John has released who knows how many greatest hits CDs in his lifetime, and he's still around. In fact, he's played at many venues that are s small or even smaller than the arenas BSB played at during the Black and Blue tour and you don't see people telling him to stop what he's doing. Yes, Elton John and BSB come from different sides of the road, but it's still true! Also, so what if BSB don't sell as many CDs in one week and the other bands? The one-week sale thing has got to be the biggest excuse for declaring an album a failure I've ever heard of. You know, when we only focus on the one-week sales of an album, we're only looking at ONE WEEK of an album's sales in ONE COUNTRY. It doesn't say anything about the entire success of that CD anyways, so why are so many people worried about it? What else did I want to throw my opinion out on? Oh, a few more things. Ticket sales--if the stupid management wouldn't have blow ticket prices way through the roof, then I KNOW more BSB fans would have attended concerts. I have tons of friends older AND younger than me who couldn't go to the Black and Blue tour because of ticket prices. Hopefully, on BSB's next tour ticket prices will go down a bit and you'll see what I mean.

As a music education major, I know what it is like trying to perfect to your music before you put it out for the public to hear. And that's just what our Boys strive for; perfection. They don't need to be putting out an album once a year for us to stay fans. We know that they work hard to create beautiful music for our listening pleasure. We know that they will be back and as always better than ever.

I have to say even though the article was a little shocking at first, I'm really glad it came out. I don't know about anyone else, but I personally blamed a lot of the stuff that happened on the boys when in reality they obviously didn't even have a say in most of the things that happened. Like the Greatest hits album. I actually thought it was just done to get the six albums they signed the contract for done faster. Or Black and Blue being pretty much like all the other albums before - it's kinda sad when you hear that they weren't all really happy with it and had to put it out anyways. Lately I also kinda got the feeling that the guys just didn't care anymore, but when you read all the s*** that went on behind the scenes I forgive them a lot of stuff (and feel a little bad about thinking some stuff in the first place)

BSB have been screwed over so many times in their career it's not even funny. It just makes me respect them more. Sure they've made mistakes, haven't we all? But I think Jive is a lot of the problem too. I'm still waiting for the day when Jive is out of the way. Anyone else think it was messed up that Nick and Justin's singles came out on THE SAME DAY when Nick's album is coming out first?

It makes me sad to think about all the shit the guys have been put through over the past few years. I have been a hard core B.S.B fan since the beging (ever since grad nite at sea world) I have been turely and madly in love w/them. If anything good comes from this artical I hope it's a new found respect for the guys, and what they go through for their fans. Yeah I can't wait for Nicks new album, but I also agree that this wasn't the best timing for it. But who am i to say what's right. And untill I hear it straight from the guys they are still a group. No matter what happens they will be a part of my life. So in the words of Howie D, Let's keep the B.S.B pride alive. Anyone who reads this please feel free to e-mail me.

Well i have been a bsb fan for a long time and I am a boy, so that is kinda weird. I really don't care what people say about that but the article was very interesting for me because it took me deep inside what has really been going on. I though them doing a greatest hits album was a mistake but that wasn't their fault. I do think that they don't get the respect that they deserve from the media because the media is too busy hangin on nsync's balls. The Backstreet Boys clearly care about the music and fans, Nsync cares about the publicity, that's pretty clear to me. but yeah that pearlman guy is a dumb@ss. BSB got taken advantage of so much and it aint fair. People make a big F'n deal that BSB didnt outsell Nsync's album when i think it's B.S. that they sold that many copies for N.S.A. but they didnt deserve what they are worth and their music means a lot to me.I really hope that their new album will shut people up for good and have them realize what Nick said years ago in "Everybody","As long as there'll be music we'll be comin back again!"

My name is Erika, I live in Dominican Republic, and this is a country so far away from US, but what I wanna say is that I've been BSB fan since five years, i think fans know them so much more than anyone one who tries to show a false image of them, they don't know how hard is to get the love they've gotten from their fans and to get there where they are right now. They have almost 10 years working, and it doesn't compare to the 6 years or whatever of 'Nsync, 'cause they're TRUTHLY ARTIST, they got their own style, their own music, and if it's true that 'Nsync are "better" than BSB (and we know is not) is just because they always do the same as BSB, I don't know why they just don't try to get they're own life, and get their own ideas. Well also if we don't hear too much about BSB right now is 'cause they need to relax too, they're human beings, they're not computers, and also they're working on their new album. But when someday they decided to stop and do anything else (hope not soon), we'll just have to respect them and we'll be proud they were the best MEN GROUP (not "boy band") in the world and lasted more than any other. And remember QUANTITY WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN QUALITY. That's all I gotta say.

As someone said, the music business is just that, a business. However, I find it sad that there exists a business that is as cut-throat as that of the music industry! The way I see it, if you work for a regular company, you may have a differing view point from that of your boss or some of your co-workers, but there is usually at least one person who agrees with you and is willing to stand up to help you! In the music business, that camaraderie doesn't exist. The Boys have to look out for each other, because no one else will, and that's pretty sad! It's sad to think that everything they've accomplished over the past 9, almost 10 years, means nothing to their record company or their management unless they're making money RIGHT NOW! I was disgusted when I read that, when given an ultimatum, The Firm didn't even flinch. They allowed the Boys to walk right out the door. Why? Because they weren't doing as well as they had done before. I know the Boys have great potential and I am positive that when their new album comes out, they will be back on top again! Then we'll see who's laughing. The record company was quick to replace the Boys with N'Sync when they weren't doing very well, but what happens when N'Sync falls into the same slump that the Backstreet Boys went through, and the record company has no one to fall back on? It's the record companies that are willing to stick with a band through the tough times, that will survive!

Hey, i agree with wut Tarra said cuz shes thinkin like almost exactly like me!! I luv The Backstreet Boys 2!! I have been a huge fan of them 4 longer than I can remember! I am also a huge Nick Carter fan! I am like obssessed with Him and the rest of the group!!

Wow. The New York Times said good stuff about our boys and that definitly makes me happy. However, Nick, Nick, Nick. LOL. I am very proud of Nick for doing this solo album, but I definitly think he needs 2 get back with the other guys and do the group stuff. the Backstreet Boys aren't the Backstreet Boys w/out Nick, and honestly if they replaced him, i dont care that AJ is my favorite i would stop listening to them. And i've always said I'd be a fan forever, but how can I be a fan if one of the guys isn't there!? Im sorry, but they would do WORSE without Nick, whether he is your favorite or not. Oh btw...I hate Nsync!!!

I'm shocked at like what goes on and what they had to endure, but at the same time I'm really proud 'cause it shows that the BSB's really wanted to continue to make music and make us all happy as they could have gave it all up at the first hurdle and went back to their ordinary lives. They didn't have to keep going, but they did even when the critics panned them and said it was over and they wouldnt sell another album. They also kept going after 2 got married and AJ hd his problems even though everyone said they had lost the fans cause we didnt want to listen to men that were married and had apparently "lost their sex appeal." To the so called music guru's and fat cats at the record companies, MTV and all the other places that said it was over for Backstreet, well you aint seen nothing yet and it's only just begining!!!

What do i think about that article, well, i have mixed feelings about it, i was happy because it was truthful, it showed all the crap that they've had to endure in the last 10 years, and showed that fans are still willing to stick with them. NOW why i hate it, well to start off, Lou Pearlman is a POMPUS ASS!! always has been, always will me. i hate that guy, he screws every person he works with over, he's screwed over BSB, nsync, otown, and now isn't he battling stuff with aaron, nicks brother. anyway, BSb were the ones making the money, so they are the ones that deserve it.

Ok...i have been a BSB fan since the begining. I have supporting everything they did, went to every show that came here, bought every cd, bought every video, and like everything else a fan can do. But its sad to say that i think this article just kinda confirms what i along with alot of other fans im sure didn't wanna believe which is that BSB isn't doing too good. I believe there were wrong decisions made which hurt the career of BSB. I think groups of any kind should have a say so in what happens with their career.....i think the decisions made by the former management were selfish and uncaring.
