I'm informed, but also extremely p.o.'d and think the writer greatly exaggerated: i.e.: Executives working with the BackStreet Boys said band members had stopped getting along after the release of "Black and Blue." . Well, we the REAL fans know the REAL truth: that's a bunch of BS! So is
(Mr. Pearlman said that he had supported taking time off for the operation immediately.)

Well, first of all, I thought that the article was very informative and it really explained a lot of things. I think that a lot of us had been suspicious about things for awhile, and the article just laid the cards down on the table. I was just gonna leave my post at that, but after reading what other people had to say, there are some things I need to comment on.
People are saying that the writer of this article pulled facts out of his ass. You all seem to forget that this is the fucking New York Times we're talking about here...refusing to believe the NY Times is like doubting CNN. And I've read some things about how this author is just a lame critic, which is also not true. If it was, there are easier targets out there for him to attack.

And for God's sake, stop blaming every Backstreet problem on NSYNC and the critics! It's just not cool. The critics are just doing their job, which is giving their opinions on the lastest music. They don't have to be in love with the Backstreet Boys. If I was a middle-aged male music critic, I wouldn't like them either.
And who really CARES if Chris got a mohawk after Kevin did? It is NOT something to stress out about! Yeah, so our boys have similarities with NSYNC. Complaining about it is not going to do any good. They both have to take steps into different musical directions with different management in order for that to change. It'll happen, don't worry about.
As far as Nick and Justin's songs are concerned? I might be the only one with this opinion, but I think it's a good thing that they're both coming out around the same time. In case you haven't noticed, pop music is on the decline. Both of those songs are going to get a decent amount of airplay and exposure, so maybe they'll help bring pop music on the rise again.
Well, that pretty much covers it. Thanks for reading!

Well, for starters I'd like to say that I really miss the Boys at the moment. It's been such a long time since they released anything. I loved them when they released Millennium and Black & Blue. I still love them now. I'll never stop loving them.
Kevin, Howie, Brian, AJ and Nick have done so much for me. They kept me going when I was down. They do that for so many people. If they were to break up, it would be worse than when Take That broke up.
I don't think the media realise how much they're hurting us fans by all this speculation. It is so hard to keep faith when there's so many people who seem to be against you.
I do know that we have to remain loyal to them, no matter what.
AJ had problems, but he got them sorted. Brian got through his operation because of us. He said afterwards that all the well wishes and good thoughts were what kept him going. They love us as much as we love them.
They have been through so much together. All of them have things which have challenged them in the past. They helped each other through it though. Nick loves Brian so much. It was easy to see how much hurt he was goin through when Brian was having the operation. He was so scared.
They all love each other. And I'm sure they always will.

Hey. What I read in that article was really not what I would've ever suspected. All the things they said about Backstreet Boys and what they've been going through...I don't think they had a right to go through all that. They were continuously comparing the Boys to N SYNC, which is something that the BSB and their fans completely hate! The one thing that worried me the most was about how Nick stayed back and kept with the Firm, but the rest of the boys didn't. Is that supposed to mean something? Something important? That kind of made me worry. So what if Nick is doing a solo album, he has said he still wants to be part of the Boys and the new album. Anyways...Backstreet will pull through. They always do. We can be sure of that. They'll do anything they need to to stay together, and make their careers more of what they want. Sorry if this isn't understandable...I'm kind of thinking of things as I go. I don't even know if what I'm saying is really what I'm trying to say. Lol. All I know is that article kinda made me mad. Anyways...KTBSPA!!!

I just want to say that I don't believe that the BSB are UNDONE, or something like it.
Look all the artists. We can use for an example MICHAEL JACKSON. He was one of the most succeful solo singer some years ago... then he just disappeared of the music scene. He disappeared for the industry, but not to the fans. And then, he got back.
The same is happening to the Backstreet Boys. They have a real BIG TALENT, and the industry don't care about it, they just want to get money, money, money and money. If somebod˙ just disappear for a while, to work, or anything, THEY SAY THAT IT'S OVER!
Everybody just starts saying: OH, THEY HAVE NO FANS ANYMORE, IT'S OVER...
We, the fans, start getting sad, and the critics starts saying: WE HAVE PRESEEN IT BEFORE, IT"S JUST LIKE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK, AND TAKE THAT, AND MENUDO... WE KNEW IT...
SAYING THINGS THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN YET! AND THATI BELEIVE, IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

If Nick goes solo, who cares? LETS SUPPORT HIM. For example take Mick Jagger. He's the vocalist of one of the most successful rock''n'roll bands ever, The Rolling Stones. He works solo and with the band. And it doesn't mean that the band is over.

The problem is that the critics always had an opinion about WHAT THEY CALL BOY BANDS... They say that some cute guys singing and dancing are goin anywhere. They always had a preconcept against the BSB, since the New Kids On The Block falled.

And they just can't accept that the BSB are grown up men, and it's their job, it's not like: WE WANT MONEY, WE WANT MONEY. And when you have a job you have UPS and DOWNS... if you're down, it doesn't mean you're over, does it?

As somebody said, I can't remember who, the music industry roads in circles... And it's like this!
But people always expects that a group that have always been successful, cannot stop for a while, cannot don't have a Top 10 single, cannot don't be at first everyday on TRL.
Besides, that people should think about it: If the BSB were always on first, always working, always making money, and always on tour, what would happen to the rock'n'roll bands? What about Madonna?

The BSB are down now, they're working on the new album, Nick is going solo making one of his dreams true. We just gotta keep SUPPORTING EM!
We can't do anything but it!
I REALLY HOPE THAT THEY ARE DOING THE RIGHT THINGS NOW. AND IF THEY'RE FIGHTING, OR IF THAY'RE AGAINST NICK... DON'T WORRY, IT'S LIKE FAMILY FIGHTS.
I DON'T CARE IF THE NEW MANAGERS SAY THAT HE DOESN'T CARE IF NICK LEAVES. I KNOW THAT NICK IS NOT GONNA LEAVE, AND I KNOW THAT THE OHER GUYS ARE NOT GOIN TO GET AN INFLUENCE FROM THE MANAGERS, AND TELL NICK TO LEAVE, BECAUSE THEY'RE ARE GROWN UP MEN, AND I DO KNOW THAT THEY KNOW HOW TO THINK WITH THEIR OWN MINDS.
KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!

I can't beleive it.They looked so happy.I feel like shoving Nsyncs album up justin's joey's kris's and the rest of their fake butts.F the critics. What do they know. How to ruin our boys carreer.that's about it.How the hell did the rumors get stated they were breaking up.Now I know why.still that gives no right for critics to be that rude. And also I did notice the simalarities.Lance brian has heart problems. There's one thing i know they on't habve in common for sure.I bet the same thing will happen to Nsync or even worse. And i hope it hits so clpose to home that eminem comes and shoves a cd up all of their non exsistant butts.Nsync ugly.BSB is not.I can't stand how people say they look alike. They don't sing alike either.Someone needs to pull what ever is in justin timberlakes's thrght or butt out.Even niclebackcan sing better than that and I don't sclub7 can sing better that that and they haven't even put out a hit in 2 yrs.I wishthat nsync would fall down and die.The article well i don't know.Bye.

This article makes it sound like they've already ended. Backstreet Boys are not over. To us, the fans, they never will be. The Boys themselves have said that even if the group does "end", they will still always be the Backstreet Boys. We fans will have cds and videos of them for years to come. Just because they have not been #1 on every chart in the world lately doesn't mean they won't be back on the music scene soon. I did appreciate this article, however, in that I finally figured out exactly who they'd had to put up with and who was actually managing them at the moment. I did NOT appreciate that it makes it look like the group is gone for good. I would have liked it better if the title had been different, and if the author had chosen his/her words better.

Again, I do not think the Backstreet Boys are over. Just the opposite. Everyone needs a break once in a while to grow. NSYNC has dropped out of the "picture" lately as well, but no one's spreading such rumors about them. Can't we all just get along? Geez, people.

OMG! What is going on?! First things first, not to be rude, but nsync does suck. Honestly, I've never seen any of them atleast try to please their fans. You can so tell all they want is fame and money...and Backstreet Fans. And thats whats happenning. Just cause the Backstreet Boys are taking quite a long time preparing another kick ass album, people are already saying shit like "oh yeah wutever happened to the Backstreet Boys?" or "The Backstreet Boys broke up already its over" LIKE WTH?! Above all, nsync fans are taking advantage saying nsync is way better then u know who and nsync will live forever...NO FREAKIN BOY BAND WILL LIVE FOREVER! THE BACKSTREET BOYS ARE GOING THROUGH ALL OF THIS BECAUSE OF THE FANS. If you think about it, Nick's always wanted his own album, but he also wants to bring his fans back. The Backstreet Boys are stressed out to bring on another album, but they want it perfect to bring the fans back. They are just trying to remain the best in world to US. If the fans were crazy over the Boys just like we were from the very beginning we heard of them, they wouldn't be hiding in the dark right now. Know what I mean?! Skrew nsync, their all in hiding too, why isnt anybody saying anything about them? Just try to do something to bring the Boys back NOW...even BEFORE the album comes out...request any Backstreet song on your radio station! Or vote for them on a website, request a music video on your music channel!! YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS CALLED? FOR YOU FANS OUT THERE, ITS CALLED *****KEEPING THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE*****....

It makes me angry that people waste their time writing articles like this when all they do is make people upset. The people who were interviewed for this article would have something negative to say about the Boys. I believe that they are good guys, have faults like all of us,but unfortunately their faults are blown up because of the fame. This is another article for the recycle bin.

This article made me sick to my stomach. I had no idea about all the crap they went through... I respect them a lot already and after reading this, my respect for them grew (if that's possible) I really can't say much more because a lot of people below have said it better than I could say it. All I could really say is that I will never stop supporting these guys... ever. I know there's a lot of fans out there who feel the same way. So as fans, let's never stop supporting them! Why the hell does everybody always have to put BSB down? I'm so proud of BSB for being such great musicians and being able to do well in the face of so much opposition. They gotta deal with counter measures at every turn from Nstynk, management, and even the media. They've got to be so strong.

Oh, so the article sucked.

I can't believe that these critics actually think that BSB is over. First of all if they were "undone" why are they writing about them in the first place. The only reason BSB isn't in the spotlight right now is cuz they havent released an album in almost 2 years. I have faith in BSB and I kno that they'll make this next album, like the others, worth while. I'm actually happy that their isn't so much hype anymore cuz finally for once they have the chance to be taken seriously. Listening to their music is enough for us fans but not always enough for ignorant critics. For them BSB has to sell millions of copies their first week out or their over. But when have u seen the industries legendary artists sell as many copies as BSB? BSB sold 1.6 millions copies of Black & Blue the 1st week and its a failure cuz NSync sold more!!! Michael Jackson sold 2 million copies of his last album in total and in most eyes he's an Icon. The truth is that they say their undone cuz they see them as a "Boy Band" and they dont take them seriously. The same thing happened before B&B came out and look what BSB has accompished since then. Why dont they say that NSync is over since Lance is goin to the moon for 4 months!

I think that we BSB fans are LOYAL fans because of all that we as fans and the Backstreet Boys have been thro NOT inspite of it. If we made it thro the past we can definitely make it thro this! KTBPA BSB4Ever

ok let me start this off with one thing, if I offend anyone I am sorry! Well I personaly loved Black and Blue, and I understand about that they were rushed, but I think it is just as good as Millenium. I will love them for as long as they are together and I think the Hits was a good move by the company, because they hadnt had any new material in a long time and I think it kept some of their fans still fans. I do understand where they were coming from wanting to release it on their tenth year in 2003, but I think that would have been to long. I was suprised by Nick's actions to stay w/ the Firm even after all the rushing and everything. I am also scared that if Nick's solo album is a huge hit, he might take time away from BSB and that worries me. They have all ready pushed their work back for him and I just want BSB to come first for all of them (in the music business, not in their personal lifes)
as a BSB fan. I am also worried about you know how BSB fans are leaving them and going to new groups and I want them to still break records and still be the hottest-group in the future. I dont want Nick to leave the group like Gere from Spice Girls did. I know he wont, but I dont mean leave, but i mean not enjoy performing w/ group like he used to. Well I think Mr. Pearlman has robbed the guys in the business enough, huh? Well that's all I have to say, and that I will always support them for ever!
Love, a fan forever, Ashley

I love the guys as people, but as far as their music goes, I wish they would experiment more with their sound, and take their careers into their own hands. I suggest they leave their record company, and let Nick do his solo album on Jive.. cause you know he wants to. I just want them to produce an album that they are happy with, and they can honestly say... we worked hard for this album, we put OUR songs on there, and we are extremely happy how it came out... I'm sick of this crap that their record company pressures them to make pop hits, the way they've done before... is'nt there a way to override the record company... blah I HATE the business aspect of being a huge superstar... well anyways I'm sure that the Boys will settle this one way or another, and everything will be fine in the end. This is just another bump in the road, and god knows they withstood mountains! =)

Alright I read this article yesterday and I've been reading the other comments by other fans and my feelings are varied. I am angry but satisfied with the article. I am satisfied with it because it DOES put down the people who either cheated BsB or doubted them (Their management, Lou..etc.) But then I am angry because the article basically focused on bashing the boys and bringing down their spirits. And you all know it does. Look at the title of the article.."how a pop sensation came undone". What is that?? Sorry Mr. I write in the NY times so I think I know everything about the boys and the business and their fans but you apparently have no idea what the word "undone" means..Do you see the boys sayin that they are over?? Do you see them callin it quits? NO! They dont quit...Get it? They aren't gonna give up or leave because some people dont like them or they dont sell as many cds as they used to or people who say they are gonna support BSB, don't. They aren't gonna leave this game. They are gonna play by the rules and thats by bein real. And after everything happened with AJ and with Nick, I have grown to have a bigger respect for them. They have been honest with us since the very beginning. They dont have to lie or cover up anything. They trust us enough to let us into their personal problems and that to us means more than any cd or video...And I love the way no one rewards the people who actually work hard and have true talent. I love the way no one seems to look at the BsB and congradulate them on their amazing achievements but instead they look at the boys and try to find even the smallest fault and put it in the spotlight as much as they possibly can. And while reading the article I saw he wrote (and i quote)" They are probably single-handedly responsible for the advent of TRL".."They pushed the envelope". Well yea ya know they basically made TRL. TRL would not be what it is today without the them which is why im mad that MTV doesnt not support them. They would rather waste their time with "Nsync".. 0hh I hope you know that you're turnin down talent and mature people for people who hardly know the business. Mtv is scared to support BsB because they aren't used to them. They arent used to talent. Im not gonna use any names because im sure we all know who Im talkin about when I say "fake" and "money-hungry". The boys arent about that. Yeah, They want what they deserve and when they dont get it they get angry. Well yeah I would too if i was being cheated out of $ or anything else that was unfair to me. And they say they dont make as many appearances as they used to. Well, ya know they have been workin hard for about a decade so you know how hard you work durin a week? yeah tryin doin that all day every day for 10 years..Then tell me if you want to go out and be chased by a crowd of gurls or sign 10,000 autographs. And people say "oh they have life good"..Why because they have $$..yeah so what? they worked hard for that money it didnt come free to them. And thats bascially my point..Our boys have worked so hard to make us happy and they dont need stress from other people tellin' them they are over. They aren't "over" yet and maybe in a couple years if they wanna take break from this music thing..let them. They deserve it. Their music will always live on and they will always have their loyal, true fans. And I am proud to say that I am one of those loyal, true fans who will never let them down and will always be behind them in anything that they want to do with their lives. I love them for who they are. They are truly amazing people.

I saw the article and knew it was something horrible. But once I saw that everyone was writing comments about it, I read it. I think that it was horrible, no one should be releasing something like this right now. I mean why did they keep saying every couple lines that the boys were fighting over this that or something else. I mean they are together 24/7, no fan should expect them to get along all the time. But as we know they have been together for almost 10 years and it is about time that they began to do solo projects. I mean AJ did a small solo tour and everything was okay. He went around as Johnny No Name and the boys fulling supported him, so I think that they should support Nick even though he is still with their old management. Anyways thats all I have to say, if you dont agree e-mail me.
