amy: point blank - they are not untalented. find me five guys, or hell, ANYONE who can harmonize like them, and i'll say they're untalented. they're great people (i know this b/c of previous experience), great singers, and they've got great fans. if you're bothered so much, then maybe you should um...LEAVE? that'd make sense to me...

FYI, I have more common sense than any of you! i mean, come on am i the only one who thinks that 28 year old men serenading 12 year old girls is sick, and these girls are gaga for them!!!! its perverted, if any of you ever understand psychology and marketing scams in our society you'll realize bsb wasn't so hot after all!
all their doing is brainwashing this already conformity prone society! and bulls*** that they sing with passion and they have great love songs, they are untalented, they don't write or play their own music, their not a band, they merely "lend" their crappy voices to song writers.

you know what? amy, you're right. it is sick to see little girls running around wanting to marry all five backstreet boys. but ya know what? i've seen the same thing with rock groups and rappers, so it's not just pop. you're a moron if you're tha naive, and really and truely believe that.

as stated before, record sales do speak for themselves. how many albums worldwide has nsync sold again? i lost track after the 3 million mark! Anyhoo, bsb have fans, plain and simple. get over it.

i have a few things to say, first off, i thought the article was very informative, and for those of you who say that these facts aren't true, get over the peach colored image you have of BSB, i think we all should have known that when AJ entered rehab that he was having more problems than unfortunatly his grandmother dying.
As for Nick, i think is too caught up in his own momentum thinking that once he gets his album out there that the sales are just going to rise. I for one will not buy his CD. I started being a fan of the BACKSTREET BOYS not nick carter, i've always liked them as a whole and unlike you all i don't have a fave or like the cutest one. i'm a singer in the making myself and i enjoy their music a lot and that's how far it goes. the reason why i won't support Nick is i am quite mad at him. When the boys along with him went into that office to give firm the ultimatum he was not nick carter he was nick carter the BACKSTREE BOY and he was supposed to make that decision as part of the group at that moment he had 4 other guys to think about rather than himself. I am saddened to think that the people i have admired for the past five years have gone through so much tribulations and have been so betrayed by greedy, managers and record labels who have no other potential but to take advantage of people such as our boys. So all you guys supporting Nick that's swell for you, but in many ways nick is also going to get a lot more money being in a band and a solo act. i don't know about you but i work very hard for my money and i am not going to spend hundreds of dollars (cause that's how much i paid for their tickets) for the backstreet boys's tours and than pay as well for Nick. why do that when i could she him sing with the rest of the boys? Bottom line i don't really know about this whole thing of Nick going solo, i think that's exactly what's going to rip them apart. I love the boys and i will be praying for them for hope and courage and lots of strenght to keep going and that of course includes Nick.
Bottom line if they are to end girls, don't sweat it, they have given us a lot of great music and will be part of music history forever. Nsync may be all huge now but eventually they too will die down, actually they already are, but the boys were a huge band for awhile and i think they should cherish that success many don't even get to have half of that. with everything that's good comes bad that's life and like Rene said "everything that is good eventually comes to an end" and if that's so, when i'm old and grey, i'll be riding on my car, possibly driving my kids to school and crank up the radio when they're beautifull music comes on, and tell my kids how infatuated i was with them and how they were the first concert i ever went to. i wish them the best, and a lot of luck and faith.

I'll be praying for them

I feel that the article brings to light many issues that, for a long time, had been previously unaddressed. Not only does it renew my absolute disdain of Lou Pearlman (I'm sorry, but telling someone to postpone HEART SURGERY to keep going on a tour is absolutely disgusting to me), but it also explains why Black and Blue wasn't quite up to par in comparison to Millenium, and it details the Boys' management troubles, most of which I knew nothing about.

Does anybody else find it incredibly irritating that no one seems to question NSYNC or O-Town's longevity, and yet the Backstreet Boys are criticized for nearly every action they take? You know what I mean? For example, Brian and Kevin decided to get married. Everyone freaked out, saying, "Oh no, what will this do to the group? Surely they won't stay together after something like this!". Nothing happened! And now it's the same thing with Nick's solo career. People think this is the beginning of the end for the Backstreet Boys, and yet no one said anything when Justin Timberlake decided to do it. It's so frustating! Grrr!

*Sigh* But I digress.

To make a long story short (too late!), I think the article was honest and insightful. It provided us music fans with a look into the darker side of the music industry, and it's pretty scary. Let's hope that our Boys can keep doing what they do, the absolute best way they can, and give us the best album yet!

Peace

You are all sick! pop phenomenon is a twisted marketing scheme! all they want is your money, seriously, wake up! its sick, 13 year old girls are like "oh my gosh i love these 5 men and i wanna marry all of 'em" its hysterical to see how brainwashed some people become when they see five men in jeans and t-shirts who pretend to sing!

For all those people who think The Backstreet Boys
are lost; just listen, really listen to their
songs. Nobody can sing love songs like that! The harmonizing is like no other. In the end, it's all about the music!!! Whether they remain a group or not, their music will have touched peoples lives and that's what is important. I wouldn't call that being lost.

Wahoo, MK! hehe

My sentiments exactly. I'll love them 'til I die, just like so many still love Elvis.

Loved the Phonzie quote! "Sit on it." Just greatness, girl :)

Oh, and Amy. If you think that BSB is so washed up and not anything to be concerned with, then why are you going to all the trouble to come to BACKSTREET.net and posting on a BACKSTREET BOYS board? I mean, why bother if it is all so clear and said to be so. BSB washed up? Ha! What are you? 10?

Of course, there were a lot of truths in the article, like mentioning of the guys being screwed over repeatedly by people they put their ultimate trust and faith in (Lou, the Wrights, Jive, The Firm, etc...). However, I also find the article very disturbing.

It seems odd to me how Jive treats them like animal waste, when they've made that record company so much money I can't even wrap my mind around it in a sense. And Jive pressuring them to release 'Chapter One' was the worst thing they could have done. Releasing that album stopped another single from coming from 'Black & Blue', which meant less radio play for the album, and subsequently, less albums sold. Now all I hear on MTV is how much of a disappointment the album was...and 'can the Backstreet Boys have another hit record'? ((oh give me a break John Norris!!)) The record company clearly had $$ signs in it's eyes, as always.

I also find it incredibly stupid that 'Black & Blue' is considered a failure. If it were an album from someone else, and it sold as many copies as it did, it would be considered a huge success.

Something else worrying me, is that one of their current managers even mentioned a line-up change. I'm sorry, but this wouldn't happen. If one decided to leave, I am more than certain that the group wouldn't be around anymore. And as someone who is managing their careers, he needs to think twice before saying things like that... He's probably the next one to screw them over, all in a matter of time.

I do believe that marriage had an effect on their status, as well as AJ's visit to Rehab. However, I don't believe that these things have caused people to lose interest, as previously mentioned in other posts. Kevin and Brian's marriages made some fans a little unhappy, but they seemed to get over it...and the ones who didn't, ultimately left their fanship when they left behind their Spice Girl dolls. AJ overcoming his problems in my opinion was a great thing, and to say that his getting help has turned fans away is like saying that Elvis' death has turned fans away. HELLO, the King isn't dead, well, depending on who you ask, but I wasn't speaking in a literal sense.

Why can't it be: once a Backstreet Fan, always a Backstreet Fan? Like the Beatles, or Elvis. I want my children, and my grandchildren to know who Backstreet Boys are. What's wrong with longevity? And why doesn't everyone believe enough in BSB to think that they will have this?

Okay, so being a BSB fan for like 8 years now, I've learned to listen to all articles and interviews of the boys in a critical level. Everyone has an opinion but I for one do not agree with this person's point of views. But us fans who are here because we love the boys and the work they do as well as respect them are the only people who can make a difference. All the critics in the world could say they suck and are washed up and stuff like that but it is us, the fans, who will really decide that. As all famous people say, it is the fans who really matter and if we all love the boys as much as we say we do, we need to keep the Backstreet Pride Alive and show these old, annoying critics that Backstreet is here to stay!

you guys i came to a realization today. I will always love the backstreet boys. These 5 men have been a part of my life for 6 years, and that won't end anytime soon. I also realized that just becasue other people don't like them, I still can. While I would prefer to have them #1 in everything, if that doesnt happen, its okay. The important thing is that I can still like them and enjoy their music, without the opinions of others. You say this is the end, and I think youre wrong. But if for some reason you mean and greedy people out there are correct, i have one thing to say. I DON'T CARE. you can go off and be smart a$$, and it won't effect me. I weill still love my 5 beautiful boys whether you like them or not. So in the words of phonzie from happy days, "sit on it." becasue i don't give a crap. the backstrret boys will live in my heart forever, and i will always enjoy their music.

i totally respect every1's opinions and everythin, but i think nick has the right to do whatever he wants. it's his choice. and i also haven't heard nick's single a lot. i've only heard it like twice. i've written a lot of emails to rick and jojo at 102.7 kiis fm, so that mite help. REQUEST IT. REQUEST HELP ME. IT'S A TERRIFIC SONG! I LOVE IT. and i'm not worried if bsb is gonna break up, b/c they might not be singing till they're 90 years old, but they're gonna be around for a long time. pretty soon, everyone's gonna get tired of N'YSNC. just watch

This article is right about one thing, the bsb are washed up. They're all greedy little manipulative slobs, control freaks is what they are. They're too fake and too old. As with all pop acts all they want is money, fame, and being able to control the youth of america with stupid marketing schemes and horrible, cookie-cutter pop music. They're all done, thanks to their greediness and in part to Nick's selfishness, if he cared so much why'd he leave? Hmmm... he wanted to be a teen hearthrob again, and wanted more dinero that he doesn't have to share!

--down with bsb and all pop music!

Dude, in my opinion that article was really bogus. Outsiders have no idea what they're talking about. They can talk numbers and yeah, the numbers do mean something but not much. The fans are what truly say it all. Just watch TRL when BSB's there and watch how quickly they gotta close the curtains cuz of all the fans. Yeah, there's been a lot of stuff going down and yeah, they're all doing stuff on their own at the moment but have a lil faith ya'll! These our our guys! If we don't support em, who will?? You know, I've heard each of those guys talk about how they can't see an end to the backstreet boys and if they aren't planning on stopping, who's gonna stop em? I just think that us quivering in our boots, scared shitless that they're gonna break up is only proving peoples' points. LET'S PROVE TO THEM THAT WE'RE POSITIVE THAT BSB'S GONNA BE AROUND A LOOOOOOOONG TIME!! (puts soapbox away) KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!
