The Lost Boys: How a Pop Sensation Came Undone

I know I just posted my comments but I just wanted to add to it after reading several of other people's opinions. A lot of people are angry saying that "Bsb are not breaking up" but did the NY times say that in ANY part of this article?? I sure didn't see anything so I think people should just calm down. And many say that they are lying, well, who are we to say that they aren't? The music business has always been a kind of dark one. Just because Bsb are so loveable and are the best singers in the world doesn't mean their jobs are any different than other musicians before them. They never lied, or said anything offensive (I personally think). The article was mostly about what happened between the boys and their record companies anyways. I just think this article isn't that big of a deal to be so angry over. If anybody is mad at me for saying what I said, go ahead, but everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. :) Have a nice day/night!

Nick im so proud of him, for going out doing his own thing. I have no hard feeling at him for doing so, I think its a great thing. Just becuase he did this dosnt mean he is leavint the rest of the boys in the dark, he just talked to Howie and said that we could be expecting a BSB album as soon as next year, I dont know why you all are whinning, blah blah Nick did this blah blah nick is being selfish.

I think this article was portrayed in a very truthful way. I know we won't like all the things that were said in the article (it hurt me to know that the boys were unhappy) but it speaks truth. Their management, record companies, etc. weren't thinking as carefully or professionaly as they should have. BUT, I think this article is slightly opinionated since it's pretty much all Kevin's idea of how everything went down. It could have all been told differently by the others. But altogether, I think this article really gives people and inside look at how celebs are mistreated often by their management. I know the boys will still continue to do good though and I'm very proud of them! :) KTBSPA!

'sides, who are the people at NY Times to say that??? they prolly made up like half of the article...very sad...pshhh...what losers...we all know BSB is NOT gonna break up, why make that??? i'll tell you, so that they could have some publicity and more buyers...that's really messed up. it think that article is gay. stupid retards there...@(^0^)@

I didn't even bother reading the stupid article cause I know it's going to talk about the same shit. Bsb ain't going to break up. They dominate the world. It's them, only them. They rock. So to all the people who hate bsb. Find something better to do in your dawn lives. It hurts us fans to hear people say that bsb is going to break up. Like I said get a life losers.

I am really happy that Nick is coming out with a solo project because not only does it provide us fans with more stuff to watch and listen to, it helps the band as well. Who even said Nick would tour by himself? If he's touring with BSB, he could throw some of his solo stuff in there...it'll be like a double concert...Wango Tango had a whole bunch of acts, so can BSB!! Everything is gonna turn out awsome, the guys have just had it hard in 2001 and 2002, but 2003 will be great for them. KTBSPA!

I have a comment about this. First of all, I didn't read this article from the New York Times, I read it in the Toronto Star in the Entertainment section and I was completely shocked. Sure I'm a Backstreet Boys fan, but I haven't been keep up on any of the latest news. I didn't even know that Nick was coming out with a solo album. But I never expected it to be so bad. I'm not sure if the media has made things out to look so bad, but you know what? I don't think they have. I went onto www.backstreetboys.com where I used to go to take a look at certain updates on concerts and new songs etc.. etc.. and that site, it's hardly up and running anymore? What happened? And if infact Nick Carter did deliberately go for his own career with the Firm and had the boys in the dark, I think that's horrbile of him to do. And if they break up because of his selfish and careless judgement, I don't know if I quite frackly want to buy his solo album. The boys have had horrible publicity in the past 8 months. A.J. in rehab, and a while ago when the other boys got married, it's just showing they have grown up and gone their seperate ways. It actually is making me sad to think that their careers might be over. It's not like they don't have enough money to live off of for the rest of their lives. I guess I just thought they'd be around for a long time to come. That's all I had to say. If anyone knows how I can contact the band (because I know they used to have e-mail addresses at backstreetboys.com can someone let me know by e-mail? Thank you)

okay...i think this is complete BULLSHIT. it really ticks me off that people assume backstreet are broken up, but that nsync arent. its the same situation here, people. but GOD FORBID nsync break up...the whole fucking world would end! ::eyeroll::

I thought this article sucked! While most of the things the author wrote were true, there were many things that were purely false! I mean look at the title! How a Pop Sensation came UNDONE? Excuse me, but I didn't hear any of the BSB say they were over, did you? NO! And the statement that said A.J.'s rehab stay damaged the groups image! I think, if anything, A.J.'s rehab stay gained the Boys more respect from other musicians, fans, and even people who weren't BSB fans! And the thing about Nick leaving the group! That is the supidest thing I've ever heard! I don't think that only one member would quit and the rest of the guys would just replace him! They came into this lifestyle together and they will leave together! And that won't happen for a long time!

JOJO, is right. (i read what jojo wrote in naming the album)we gotta do anythin to KTBSPA. bsb probably hasn't felt too confident in anything they've done for a while b/c n'sync has been pressuring them the whole time. we gotta make bsb feel that we really do appreciate them as musicians, role models, and of course, regular guys who just love to sing. JUST VOTE FOR BSB IN ANY WAY U CAN. KTBSPA!!!!!!!!!!

I feel that this article was poorly written and made the Backstreet Boys sound like selfish, money hungry freaks; and they're NOT!!! I believe that the Backstreet Boys have been pushed around in the business too much. They're being pressured. And as for that Pearlman guy, he needs to back off! He's saying that he didn't steal monay from the Backstreet Boys, when he did. And that whole part about that band moving on withough Nick is ridiculous!!! The guys are too good of friends to let someone go. Nick is simply doing something in his spare time. It doesn't mean that he's not with the boys anymore. I fell that this article is not one worth reading or waching or whatever. It twist the facts and misinforms people. It's stuff like this that has the magazines writing fake articles on how Backstreet said they were going to break up. They Backstreet Boys said they would be the Backstreet Boys forever and they will be. And what's the crap about people saying that A.J.'s desision to tell the media about his drinking problem was wrong. A.J. told the media because he loves his fans and he knows that it's something that they need to know. This article is a peice of garbage, doing nothing more than bashing the king of all Boy Bands, BACKSTREET BOYS!!! As for me, I will stay a loyal fan of BSB until the day that I die.

This article just made me realize how selfish and nieve the media is about artists in general. They don't realize that just because this band may be one of the most successful bands ever [thats something you can't argue.. think 5Million]they ARE PEOPLE! Just like us, they wanna get married, have lives. They make mistakes like us. Them being honest and happy makes the media cringe, and that's what I hate. So what Kevin and Brian are married.. that's NORMAL. Aj made a mistake and fixed it in rehab.. that's REAL. The reason people look at people like the Backstreet Boys as fake is because thats what they WANT TO see. They won't accept that BSB are people too.. not just performers.

It seems as though many of the fans have been disloyal and have stopped supporting the boys. I find this devistating, since I believe that they are a very talented vocal group, who are still very capable of coming back to the top. I think it is unfair to compare them to other bands and their success, since there are many talented artists who also deserve credit. The spotlight has simply drifted off of them, and focused on a more popular band. However, I wish the best, and hope to see them do very well in 2003 upon their next release.

KTBSPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read the article and I learned from it. I learned that even though BSB isnt in the spotlight right this second everyone still loves them enough to put in their two cents about the article. And that to me shows that we all still very much respect and love BSB and they're music.

"13 year old girls are like "oh my gosh i love these 5 men and i wanna marry all of 'em" its hysterical to see how brainwashed some people become when they see five men in jeans and t-shirts who pretend to sing!"
