The Lost Boys: How a Pop Sensation Came Undone

I think that the article was, first and foremost, very informative. It's not as if we haven't all been bombarded by these same facts a thousands times as they have unfolded over the years, BUT, each time they are told, it seems as though a different twist is added.

I think that the basis of that article was not to bad mouth the guys or anything but in a way it ended up doing so. I have been a BSB fan since 1996 and I know that there's has never been a point in time where I have doubted anything about the boys. I still have all my faith in them that they can come out and make a great alubm. Sure, Nick's solo career is making a difference in the future but not necissarily a bad effect. In the end, Nick and the rest of the guys are going to do what their hearts desire. That's what they've been trying to do since the beginning. I don't think it is fair that the media call this the end for the Backstreet Boys. To be honest, I don't see much of a "career" for the guys after this next album release. I'm not saying that I'm not praying for one, because that's all I have been doing lately, that everything works out for the guys, but to be perfectly honest... they've been gone a while and even other pop bands like N Sync are moving out of the scene. Still, BSB will always be around. Although out of the scene right now, they will be back... I don't doubt that at all!

My love for the boys has not subsided at all. I only can hope that Nick makes good decisions and does not jepardize the group. I pray they will continue to sing together until the day they die. I worry though, that with the new tensions, that they will never be the same group, or even a group at all. Keep supporting them as a group and please support Nick!

Stupid American Journalism. nstink, britney the slut and all the other pop acts out there currently enjoying success can thank their lucky stars for the BACKSTREET BOYS cause without them, they wouldn't be here. The BOYS created the whole new pop genre and they'll continue to set the standards. Yeah, they got screwed over by greedy business men (I hate Lou Pearlman) but they're not going anywhere. And to suggest that AJ's treatment or Brian and Kevin's marriages have caused their popularity to decline is absolutely ridiculous. His very health was at stake for crying out loud! ARGH!!!

Recently within in the past 10 months or so, I will admit that my Backstreet obsession subsided quite a bit. They are not my most favorite anymore, but I still have undying love, respect, and devotion to the group who once was my whole world. I have also noticed that since Black and Blue, that Backstreet Boys had been on a decline, and after "Drowning" that they had been on a steady decline, and when I heard the thing about Brian, AJ, Howie, and Kevin wanted to leave the Firm, and Nick admitted that he was staying on as a solo act. I completely understand the hurt that the group was feeling, and the underline hostility that the group has for Lou Pearlman. (Have you noticed that all Lou's clients hit it big than leave his management company or never take off?) I think this is so sad, it's kinda like what will become of the Backstreet Boys, but even if they do end up calling it a day, or in leymans terms break up, I think us fans should take solace in the fact that the music will live on forever.

All I have to say is the same thing I say when I read every article about them with a title like that one. "Leave them alone." Don't you people have anything else to do, or write about? The New York Times printed this? I could't believe it. I mean some of the article is probably the truth with the bad business moves with management companies, and the releasing of that Greatest Hits...even I was griping about that one. But I don't believe anythings coming "Undone" and I don't believe BSB will ever have to make an album "with or without Nick." In every interview he's done, he says nothing about not working with the others. Now maybe there was a little tension when it came to him wanting to record for his own album instead of with the rest of them, but I don't think they'll break up over it. It's just gonna take a little longer.

For the most part, this article was stuff we've heard before. Rumors of breaking up, tensions between Nick and the Boys...that stuff is kind of a given. We know they won't break up.

I think the boys got ripped off!!! Uhh it made me sick to my feet how much they were ripped off. Think about it, nsync would not have as far as they have if it were'nt for all the stupid mistakes bsb's labels and managers made.!! Ahhhh it makes me wonder what it would be like if none of that bad stuff never happend!

I thought the this was very interesting about what they said about Nick leaving the other boys. I mean hey they have been together for about 10 years and who would want to just make someone leave a group for making a decision like he did to do a solo album. Any way I think that Nick's album and the new BSB one will be really great and awesome! Also I can't stand how the media is making a big deal about N'Sync with Lance going up into space and all that , when it's like they forgot about what the BSB is doing. Because with all of the stuff like charities and the organization that Kevin has it's like they don't even care about the BSB and they tend to pay more attention to N'Sync when it seems like N'Sync has done nothing to help other things and people like charities and like something like what Kevin has about the enviroment. I personally think that N'Sync wants to just keep their fans happy by just making more cds and not really thinking about taking time off to do charities and stuff. Also in the article when it said that their management was " cheating" them out on their royalties , when these boys have worked endless hours doing something that they love and not even getting most of the pay. Or when it said that some agency or something changed the stadiums that they were performing in to arenas and making the price of the ticket sales really high so that us fans couln't even buy maybe like 3. That was stupid! I just couldn't believe it! KTBSPA!

I want to say that the article is truthful "Or as truthful as it can get" They never stated that they are breaking up. Its upsetting that they were unhappy, and still are. Hopefully they can have a good come back and be happy as the first day they started.........I hopef or the best for them. Been a fan from the beginning with be a fan till the end and then some!

The BSB have been getting a raw deal from the word go! Although, I do not know the circumstances behind Nick's new solo album I do think (if all the rumors are true) that it is quite unfortunate to add this to the mix of all this bad publicity. The fact that N'SYNC was managed by the same management team as the BSB when all their trouble first started causes me to think that perhaps their first manager was out to get them. Money does strange things to people and their manager was no exception. And greed, being what it is, made this guy go over the top! The BSB deserve every penny they ever earned and I believe that is what they were asking for. Also, it's common for anyone who is growing as an artist to eventually want to incorporate their own ideas into (what is) THEIR OWN GROWTH! It's called "Taking control of their own destiny" and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone does it and it has been that way since the beginning of time. I think that people should give these guys a break and let them grow. Bear in mind that I am a 38 yr old man who does not listen to a lot of todays music (personally I can't stomach N'SYNC) but, I love the music that the BSB put out and I will always be one of their biggest fans. Rock on Guys! I believe that "BackStreet Will Be Back...ALRIGHT!"

There was a lot of truth to this article; a lot of things I didn't know. It helped me to understand a lot of the ups and downs on the Boys' career and why things panned out the way they did. However, I don't think this "pop sensation" is quite "undone" just yet. Yes, their audience has matured and perhaps shrunk. But they still have more fans than most bands will ever hope to see. Nick's new album will be fantastic, as will the new one from the Boys. It's all good in the Backstreet camp.

I know I just posted my comments but I just wanted to add to it after reading several of other people's opinions. A lot of people are angry saying that "Bsb are not breaking up" but did the NY times say that in ANY part of this article?? I sure didn't see anything so I think people should just calm down. And many say that they are lying, well, who are we to say that they aren't? The music business has always been a kind of dark one. Just because Bsb are so loveable and are the best singers in the world doesn't mean their jobs are any different than other musicians before them. They never lied, or said anything offensive (I personally think). The article was mostly about what happened between the boys and their record companies anyways. I just think this article isn't that big of a deal to be so angry over. If anybody is mad at me for saying what I said, go ahead, but everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. :) Have a nice day/night!

Nick im so proud of him, for going out doing his own thing. I have no hard feeling at him for doing so, I think its a great thing. Just becuase he did this dosnt mean he is leavint the rest of the boys in the dark, he just talked to Howie and said that we could be expecting a BSB album as soon as next year, I dont know why you all are whinning, blah blah Nick did this blah blah nick is being selfish.

I think this article was portrayed in a very truthful way. I know we won't like all the things that were said in the article (it hurt me to know that the boys were unhappy) but it speaks truth. Their management, record companies, etc. weren't thinking as carefully or professionaly as they should have. BUT, I think this article is slightly opinionated since it's pretty much all Kevin's idea of how everything went down. It could have all been told differently by the others. But altogether, I think this article really gives people and inside look at how celebs are mistreated often by their management. I know the boys will still continue to do good though and I'm very proud of them! :) KTBSPA!

i thought that article was a bunch of BS...lots of lies. 'sides, who are the people at NY Times to say that??? they prolly made up like half of the article...very sad...pshhh...what losers...we all know BSB is NOT gonna break up, why make that??? i'll tell you, so that they could have some publicity and more buyers...that's really messed up. it think that article is gay. stupid retards there...@(^0^)@

I didn't even bother reading the stupid article cause I know it's going to talk about the same shit. Bsb ain't going to break up. They dominate the world. It's them, only them. They rock. So to all the people who hate bsb. Find something better to do in your dawn lives. It hurts us fans to hear people say that bsb is going to break up. Like I said get a life losers.
