DAMN! OK, i dont know about the rest of the people who visit the backstreet.net site, but i am a FAN...you know..the person who SUPPORTS th boys in ALL they do no matter wha cause they mean the world to me. I thought we ALL were supposed to be fans...what happened?! This is the way i see it: The backstreet boys decide to GROW up, unlike N'sync wo is STILL doin "bubble gum poppy songs", and they want to do something different and everyone crusifies em for it! Thats wrong! SO what if they wnt to take a break and try new things( solo careers, production companies, ect.,) You cant blame them for wanting to. Look at the "pop" charts now: Most of the music is not typical to what we used to see. theres bands like New found glory, avril lavugne, ashati, not Nsync! SO i give the Boys BIG props to trying to evolve with the rest of the music industry! Thy boys have gone throuht their downs before and look what happened after the last one: the Millenium..their biggest CD yet! So dont look at this as bad...look tit as they are re-fueling for something bigger! For now, just wait and support them, and get Nicks song up to #1..cause he too, is the backstreet boys! Keep The Back Street Pride Alive Forever!

First of all I would like to say that I agree with every one else who said that bsb is not complete without Nick and they are not going to lose him now! I also thought that it was very harsh to say that Kevin and Brian's getting married was the downfall of the group. Come on people! Movie stars get married too! You don't stop going to see a movie with your favorit actor just because he didn't marry you. I don't know about everyone else, but I personally think Black and Blue is their best album. When I got my B&B album it and started listening to I really, really liked it. The guys did a fantastic job on B&B and every one of their albums. Last but definetly not least, I would lke to point out the fact that they mentioned AJ's going to rehab and how their decision to bring it out in the open ruined them. When they first came out in the news,I NEVER once thought for a moment that they were becoming a bunch of drugies and ruining their image. I had bought tickets for their Portland concert just before they news came out about them canceling the show. My first thought was "I wonder what happened" it wasn't "those jerks! How could they". To get to the point, I think it was a noble thing for them to be honest about the rehab thing and everything else. If you are a true fan you should like them for who they are. After all they are only human just like the rest of us. And unlike some other acts last year who caceled shows, they at least had the decencey to reschedule dates. They were there for their fans when their fans needed them most!!!

You people dont get it do you? Its a GOOD thing that the Backstreet Boys lost their young audience. They were mostly shallow, moronic fans who would drool over every step the BSB took. The Backstreet Boys need Mature, Loyal fans who like them for their music. Not Shallow, teenyboppers who think they are actually gonna marry them. The same thing happened with the Beatles in the 60's. In the Beatles early years their fans were mostly teenyboppers. Then The Beatles changed and they lost their teenybopper fanbase. Thats when The Beatles made their best music. The Backstreet Boys with time lost their teeny fans. Its a good thing. Now all the teenies have moved to crap like O-Town and Nsync. The backstreet boys are a very talented vocal group that got screwed through the business side of the music industry. The Backstreet Boys dont care about the business side. They care about the artisric side just like Kevin said. They know what they're doing. Their next album is gonna be their best. I can feel it.

i love the backstreet boys. but be realistic. this is their low point. they may or may not return after this. and nick's solo project- that's a whole lot of selfish. the new york times isn't a stupid tabloid, they're a respectable publication, and they've analyzed the situation properly. they say a lot of nice things about them, but unfortunately i think they're right about this being their end. hopefully the boys will get up and prove me and the ny times wrong!

hey its me again. i just want to say that whats up with some people talking trash about bsb? i'm not gonna say any names but i think you know who i'm talking about......anyways, whoever is talking trash about bsb don't even know them so just leave it at peace please.anyways beside from that i just want to say that ummm i kept on thinking about this article yet again ( i can't get it off my mind) and how much there are really supportive fans there are out there, i mean its like WOW. theres so many different opinions and i've already posted mine but i just want to say one more thing before i can let myself be. last night i watched the ups special on bsb larger than life when they were at Los Angeles. i watched their concert and sang along and all my problems just seemed to disappear. when they startd to sing "Time" i just bursted out crying, i've never cried over a song before i mean i didn't even cry when i 1st saw them in concert in 2001. and the reason why i did start crying were just the words to the song....their voices...they've just been through so much that i wish there was a way that i can help them. i know that i will never forget that. so to me bsb means the world to me and their music just takes my breathe away..everything in the world disappears and i hope that their music does that same to every bsb fan out there. and i just wanted to add that bsb still has a younger audience.....i have some cousins who are in elementry school who are fans and i myself am 14 years old. bsb will get through this and in the end they'll be on top, we'll make sure of that. thank you bsb for everything. KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!
Peace!

tisk tisk NY times.don't worry bsb fans, the backstreet boys are here to stay.HOW DARE THE ARTICLE BLAMES THE MARRIGES OF BRIAN AND KEVIN FOR THE "DOWNFALL" OF THE GROUP.What "downfall"?they are taking well deserved time off.what are they supposed to do ,put their lives in hold for some 14 yr old girl? NO! They don't get the damn respect they deserve from the media (excluding MTV's john norris, & carson daily) the article doesn't focus on the good things the bsb does, like Brian's healthy heart club, kevin's just within reach foundation, and howie d's lupus foundation. FUCK *NSYNC! the only reason why their 2nd album "No Talent Attached" sold so much in it's first week is because when Justin Iddiot, and the rest of those bsb posers were on trl,he urged *Nsync fans to BUY MULTIPLE COPIES!(remember?)the only reason why *nsync is sooo popular is because THEY DON"T KNOW WHEN TO GET OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT AND LET SOMEONE ELSE HAVE IT! the only reason why justin is coming out with a solo album is because he wants to copy nick. the article also failed to mention that black & blue sold 5 million in it's 1 week of release (a new record).that a better record than the us record. if ya don't believe me go to the news index. as for one person who said that the bsb are uptight when they are interviewed and nsync are fun and laughing when they are interviewed i stongly disagree with you.did ya see them on the rosie o'donell sow when they were promoting black & blue? they were hillarious. did you see them on mtv diary? they were hillarious.as for the "end" i'll alter a p.diddy song. "THEY AIN'T GO...IN NOWHERE, THEY AINT....... GOIN' NOWHERE, THEY CAN'T BE STOPPED NOW 'CAUSE ITS BACKSTREET FOR LIFE!" as for nick's solo project, i wish him the best. i think that the next album will blow the competition away because this time they are taking their time, not rushing it, and have good people behinde them like r&b genniuos Jermine Despree( worked with another great group jagged edge, recommend getting "J.E. Heartbreak", and Jagged Little Thrill"), and they will get more guy fans becuase of jermine despree working with them.

P.S. shows like American Idol are ruining the music industry. do you agree?

Well no matter what I stand behind all 5 of them. I've been a fan for years and years and I'm not gonna stop now. It almost sounds like they are hinting towards something deeper. Plus we all know how the magazines, newspapers, and reporters are. They report only what will sell, and NOT the truth. So, lets just continue to do what us BSB fans do best........PTBSPA!!!!!!!

Although I love every one of the Backstreet Boys no matter what and I would never stop being a fan, it almost seems as though the other four Backstreet Boys (or at least Kevin) are somehow trying to sabotage (or in better words, lesser the success of) Nick's solo career. It seems kind of ironic that in the same week that Nick releases "Help Me", an article is released about how the rest of the Boys are against Nick's decision to have a solo career on the side. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong and this article doesn't portray the Backstreet Boys' true feelings properly or maybe Nick really does deserve less success (maybe his intentions are not good for the group--I mean how many of us, aside from his family and close friends, can say that we know the REAL Nick Carter?) But in any case, I love "Help Me" and as long as the music is good (from Nick & the rest of the Boys), I will always be a fan. And now that Justin is following Nick's footsteps (as usual), I am even more eager to support Nick. I'm tired of seeing 'N Sync succeed. I know they're two different groups now, but they got their fame by ripping off the Backstreet Boys' style and music. I don't care if it was Lou Pearlman or Jive Records who moulded them after the Backstreet Boys. 'N Sync have minds of their own and they should have work harder to be more creative to succeed in a fresh and unique way. People say the Backstreet Boys were created in a mould of the New Kids On The Block, but let's face it, NKOTB were created to be an R & B based group (by Maurice Starr)--their music, dancing and look was completely different than the Backstreet Boys. The only similarities I ever saw were five guys who sang.

You see i believe that this is their low point. Every band has had a low point. Some of the greatest and most respected groups in the world have had low points. I know aerosmith went through a period of like 10 years before having another hit. not that i'm saying bsb is aerosmith, i know they aren't but it is an example. Not only that but i was watching something on the beatles and there was a year when everyone was saying they were yesterdays news and that their time of fame was over. Well beatles changed their image and their music style and came back. Again i'm not doing band comparisons i'm just saying that the guys have the talent and the ability to change things in their favor again. I dont think they will ever be as big as they were but i believe they will be around with their fan base and maybe some more ywho like the music. At least I hope so. I know i will be a fan forever whether they are around or not becuase i can never forget what they did for me. I believe that that is in their favor as well; they have touched people deeper than just the music and that is why a lot of fans will always be around. i am just hopeful, and i believe that they are talented and deserve another chance to work out the kinks.Oh by the by I am 17yrs old my cousin is 15 and i have two other 17yr old friends that are fans. I think that these news people and magazine people need to talk to the fans too.

ok, 1st of all, nsync would not be here if it werent for bsb. they were put together by that fat asshole lou pearlman to get back at the backstreet boys. bsb were the ones that opened up the door for them. do u think its a coincidence that nsync left lou pearlman also and went to the SAME record label as bsb? and bsb did not lose their younger audience i was at their concert and like 50% of it was little kids. and why is it such a big deal that they're married? most people their age do get married!!! and joey fatone has a freeken kid and no one makes a big deal out of that. the title of the article bothered me the most. they're not lost they're recording another album. and the part were it says they came undone, makes it sound like they broke up, and they didnt. just because nick is doing a solo career, dosnt mean they're breaking up! and i personally think that nick's solo career is gonna be bigger then justins. and obviously the people that voted at mtv do to. and at least nick's voice dosnt sound like a girls. justin should go through puberty 1st the try again later. haha.

but everyone get it through ur damn head, that bsb is NOT breakin up!!

Where do you start to comment on a situation that is so complicated and thrives on the opinions of fans? The most controversial topic is the relationship between the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync.
I think the first thing we have to remember is that the Backstreets Boys, as a group, have lead the way as far as pop music is concerned. 'N Sync followed suit, and they did it well. I find now, the bands have gone in two totally different directions, and you can see that in songs like "Bye, Bye, Bye" compared to "The Call", one is a lot more mature than the other.
When I see 'N Sync, I see 5 boys only after fame, fortune and the kind of love that does not surpass the aformentioned material things. The Backstreet Boys are concerned with what will hurt them or help them in the long run.
This is not a letter of hate, or judgement. It is to help you remember that you can't compare two unlike things. It's fundamental.
The Backstreet Boys will come out on top because they started on top, the right way. The honest way.

*disclaimer* this letter is only a matter of opinion.

I think this article is true in some parts and false in some parts, because i don't know who this man thinks he is the other guys will never repalce Nick. Because Kevin, Brian, Howie, A.J, and Nick complete THE BACKSTREET BOYS!!! And I think Nicks' solo album will help the group,it will just show how talanted he all the guys are to do this!!!!!!

For every line you type here, make sure you request Nick Carter's "Help Me" twice as much.
If you bother your DJs enough, they WILL play it.
MTV has a poll between Justin and Nick as to whose song you like better. Right now (August 21)it's as follows:

50% Nick-Help Me
32% Justin-Like I Love You
8% I like them both

You know how important MTV is. BSB fans used to have MTV on lockdown. Then we got lazy. Now we have to get it back.

VOTE!

just reading back over the article, and who does that guy at the end think he's fooling? everyone knows that if nick leaves the backstreet boys, they'll be gone within a week. there's no way they could replace nick. i mean, look at the spice girls.

and to compare the backstreet boys to the eagles is just stupid. the bsb are ok and they have some talent, but there's no WAY they'll EVER be as sucessful as the eagles...

Yes, to a certain extent, they DID lose an audience. There actually are some people out there who are naive enough to think that they'll meet Nick and he'll fall madly in love. It's the same with Brian and everybody else....at least it was before they got married. I know 3 of my friedns who stopped being fans when they got married. As ignorant and superficial as that is, it happens. But we just have to support the boys THAT much more in order to make up for it.

*Sigh* Good lord! A lot of you people really need to mature and grow up a little bit. There's NO NEED to jump on Jess because she thinks that NSYNC have more charisma in interviews. To be honest, they DO. Do you remember the one-on-ones in the group interview? Kevin did ALL the talking. And he's also the one who showed a LACK of respect by telling NSYNC to find their own identity, which they have done.
And what people need to realize is that NSYNC has worked their asses off as much as BSB in order to gain success. Regardless of the fact that they "copied" them, they still worked hard. Any artist in music industry is going to work as hard as they possibly can. And trying to take that away is just ridiculous and blind-sighted.
And whatever you do, DO NOT go writing letters to the New York Times yelling at the journalist. It just gives ALL of us a bad name. He'll take one look at your letter, laugh, and then throw it in the paper shredder. Because what he did was JOURNALISM, and it was a very good article. I'm glad it was printed, because it sheds so much light on everything. And if you even TRY to say that he doesn't have the facts right, think about it! This is the New York fucking Times! They don't put stuff in their paper just for the purpose of trying to be superior by trashing the Backstreet Boys! They have better things to do! This was an article that was used to shed light on the music industry, and it did just that. Whether you like what it says or not, you can't just assume that it's all lies, because guess what? If it was lies it wouldn't be in there.

No problem. You're so right. It still wonders me why Nsync fans keep coming to a BSB site when they don't even like them. I don't like Nsync but you won't find me on an Nsync site whining about them. I don't like them, period, but I don't care that other people do like them, good for them, that doesn't give me the right to annoy them by saying how stupid they are... This is a site for BSB fans, not for people who wanna start fights or whatever. If you wanna talk about how great you think Nsync is, then go to an Nsync site, not to a BSB site.
If you do like Nsync and not the BSB then why spoil your time on a BSB site...
