Why is everyone so mad at the New York Times for this article?? It's not from an opinion or a gossip colum, it's *pure fact.* It's a harsh reality that the Boys are in a bad place professionally, personally, and commercially. All we can do is continue to be the best fans of any band in the business. And that's it. The guys have to figure this one out on their own, and its their move.

this article clearly states the point that it's about making money. companies will continue to base their decisions on what will generate the highest profit. like it or not, it's a reality. companies are driven by the almighty dollar. sales continue to dictate the direction management companies take with their artists. if the artist doesn't sell, the company doesn't make money. if they company doesn't make money, they go out of business. this is why many artists are creating their own record lables. this allows them to have complete creative control.

as the article clearly states, it's a difficlt and tough business which unfortunatly not all artists have allot of control over.

regardless, i for one, will always be a fan and anxiously await their new cd!

I think the Backstreetboys are the best. Because if bsb never come out pop never were the same nsync are bsb clones. And very body have problemes. bsb are the best group in the whole world.

This article really pissed me off. I know everyone in pop music has their times of trouble... but the BSB have come out on top always... no matter what they've been through. Sure, age and future plans might interfere some... but we all know that the BSB are here to stay! I can't wait for the new album and the guys STILL ROCK! I'll be a BSB fan until the day I die and I pray that all of the other BSB fans will agree... if not than I respect your opinions. Feel free to drop me a line some time...

Everyone has their moments of positives and negatives. I think articles like these like to focus more on the negatives because it sells publications & it must not be cool to admire success. Whatever the negative slant/intent, this piece only solidifies the fact that Backstreet is here for the long haul. If they weren't, why even bother writing an article on them? Who's going to care if no one else does, right? I read these things all the time, and I always laugh. Every negative article is always about "Trouble In Backstreet Paradise." How are they any different than groups like NSYNC? Justin also has a solo album coming out, Joey is a father, and Lance will blast off into space...I don't see anyone writing on their "demise" because each individual has outside projects. If BSB have come "undone," they sure are receiving much attention still.

I'm a 25 year old fan and have been since they "blew up" in Europe & nothing has kept me from appreciating their music. I wasn't sad when Brian and Kevin married. I was happy for them, just as I am whenever anyone tells me they just got married. Their music to me has always been about being real - experiencing all aspects of love. Their wanting to live a normal life makes them more credible to me as people not too obsessed with the shallow-ness around them. I would never put my life on hold just to further an image/product/lifestyle. Why should they be any different? I will always appreciate their music no matter what they experience in their own lives - through heart surgeries, rehab stints, marriages, solo careers, children, movie careers, charity involvement, record producing...you name it. And, I know I'm not alone in feeling that way, so let those articles keep on coming. We'll still be here.

I think that article is only telling the truth when Brian went for heart surgery it was a great way to let nsync in!! And i belive that nsync did work hard but i think backstreetboys should get another chance to prove themselves to what a great band they are!!!

I am one of the few that believe the BSB have been mis-managed, and believe that after millennium the boys were left floundering while N'sync surged ahead. I think they should take a break, re-group and plan their next attack on the music industry. They need to move with music tastes rather than keep so tightly to what they are doing and have been doing for the last 10yrs or so. They need to forget about the outside influences, like Leighanne and the media, and just have faith in what they are doing and do it and not get bullied into anything else which is what has happened from the sounds of that NY times article. Musically i think they fell apart a bit with Black and Blue, and Drowning, so they need to take a hard look at what they are doing and where they want to be when there next album comes out. I have faith in them, and will reserve judgement til i hear there next album. As for Nick's album i think the timing of it is not so great, i understand he wants to do it or needs to do it, but i think it's extremely bad timing with the rumours, and the hard time that BSB are going through at the moment, i think it may have been better to get it out after the next BSB album. Whether it does well or not, it's going to hurt the BSB as a group as a whole. Just my 2 cents!

Oh my god! All I can say is that while reading this article I was flipping out. I find it hard not to believe what's said . .all the first things about Pearleman and all that stuff, we know it's true. But what exactly was the point of this article?? Groups dissapear for years at a time all the time . . .no one really freaks about that, but Backstreet is different. Why can't people relax about this . .they claim they're working on a new album (far ahead of what this guy said) and we have no reason not to believe them. They haven't lied to us before . . trust them. Fans should trust . .who cares what fukin' Jive and the others do?? All that matters is our boys . . ..

I think everyone knew that eventually this would happen. I hate to compare them to NKOTB, but it's basically the same thing. They've had a great career and now is going down. Dont get me wrong I LOVE the BSB. I have every CD that they've made including the imports. But I think we all have to realize that the guys are getting older and are probably goig to start families soon. You can tell that music is changing just by listening to the radio. A few years ago everytime you turned on the radio you either heard BSB, NSYNC or Britney. One of those artist was always Number 1 on TRL and now that rarely happens. Pop music is starting to die out. I hope they decided to stay around for a long time, but you can't put off the inevitable. They will one day quit whether we like it or not. I just hope that it comes later instead of sooner. I know a lot of ya'll are going to be mad that I've said this but you know....

I think the article showed all of the hardships bsb went through. I think every bsb fan should read it. I am glad Neil Strauss wrote it. I thought it summed up very well what bsb had to face since they started. I also think it shows just how easily Nsync came to be, because backstreet came first. It just reinforces why I am a bsb fan and not an Nsync fan. I wish Neil wasn't so negative in his writings, but I think the ending states the best when Mr. Azoff speaks of the Eagles. BSB are here to stay. And Nick I support you and your solo career. KTBSPA!

well, the reporters have always had there opinions. They think they know and the truth is they don't have any clue. The guys have always been honest with us their fans I had been a fan for five years now I'm not going anywhere. The only thing we should listen to is what the guys say they have said as long as we have fans we're not going anywherethe have been together for nine years their not going anywhere.

I don't know why the author of this article thinks that bsb's is finished. I am a fan and think that they are doing what should be done. Let the people miss you for a while and rest and enjoy your life and let your creative juices flow. Some of the other groups were/are so overexposed you hate to even see their face now.
Backstreet boys are talented and supportive of each other. That's what makes them great. I'm looking forward to their return.

ok..so i started to read the article, and then i stopped, and then i came back and read the rest of it a few day later.... i laughed my ass off...personally, i thought it was funnny shit.but that's me.. so yeah, kevin, needs to stop talking. nick squeals when he sings, as does justin, who the hell is gonna buy there solo albums??? no offense to anybody that does... my opinion... so, they got cheated out of their money... that sucks, and the ticket prices were very high, but why did they play in arenas w. high ticket prices??? are they retarded?? do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth??? the firm didn't listen, and jive sucks eggs....well, maybe that's just pearlman... i always knew there was something funny about that guy...well not really... so leanne is now trying to control brian... and she has succeeded...aj is getting married to the ex porn star sarah..uughhh grody!!! nick hasn't gone through puberty yet, and howie??? what does he do??? and same w/ kevin!! nobody listen to old guy!! did the the firm listen..no did Jive listen. uh no. now what??? yeah back up!! GGRRRRRR....aaahhh!!! but they have us!! and there gonna be fine. so that writer, yeah he's got good points, but he has to make a living, so he talking outta his ass..and almost doing well..but he needs to stop, before i thoroughly bust a cap on his ass... so that's my opinion and you can't bitch back!! well, you can, but well yeah have fun!!! bye now...

I think you all are a little obsessed to be writing so much when we all know so little. Don't believe everything you read. And I think they are just 5 guys who are extreemly talented (and now rich) and want to live normal lives for a bit. They must be exhausted from the past few years. Just sit back, stop spreading rumors, and wait for another CD. LEAVE THEM ALONE. They'll be back. There is nothing wrong with laying low and getting it togethor.
