I've been reading some of the reviews for "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely"-video and well, I'm happy to realise that so many other fans had broke in tears like I had and really felt moved and touched by this extremely emotional and beautiful video. But then I was also shocked. I just happened to see this one particular review where this girl said that she thought that the video sucked, because the guys didn't look "hot" or something. That's just absurd! I mean, is that all that matters? The looks? The smiles?

Sure they're a bunch of great looking guys but this video showed another side of the band, and a not so conventional one and it certainly separates them from the ordinary "boyband"-scene or whatever. What did you expect?! Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely is a very sentimental and altogether a really sad and touching song, that I think comes through to most of us who might have had similar experiences or any type of adversities in their lives to overcome. Any battles or sad times to face. It was serious, maybe the concept was not as easy as most of today's pop videos, maybe it has a deeper feeling and a real meaning to it! But what's so bad about that?

When I first saw it I was also in tears. I couldn't believe this amazing work that they had managed to accomplish and come up with! I was amazed and I watched it all the way through feeling so much respect and love and admiration for them.

I remember thinking to myself "oh my God. This sure is something never seen before. Very 21st century style and so emotional and deep." And yeah, founding myself crying. Especially at the part where Kevin watched the video of him and his dad and then leaning sadly to the window. He had the most saddest and still such an honest and pure look in his eyes. I just felt moved. I felt I had now seen something very exceptional.

And the video just reflected the song so perfectly and also brought up their personalities and their feelings with these very personal scenes! Instead of walking along a sunny beach without shirts on, or dancing in the rain without any specific concept they had come up with this beautiful, real and emotional piece of work...a very personal concept that was like straight from their lives to us. To their fans and to all the viewers to show what they've gone through. That they also feel pain and that being a Backstreet Boy is not all smiling and dancing wildly, and sure singing all of their great, magnificent songs that I personally feel moved by every single day of my life and I don't mind them dancing in the rain (oh no!) but this video was just the best one yet. And especially because they all had their own parts to sing and their feelings to show...to us.

So, why don't we think about that for a minute? Why don't we appriciate them as who they are and for coming up with such an intimate video, and also an artistic video that I personally think all of us fans should be proud of! I was also surprised about

Brian's daring death scene. What it must have been like for him to do it. To make it seem so real and really just possily go through with the same feelings that he used to have when with the heart surgery and everything. I think he was very brave for doing it. And I love and respect him for it.

They were all so mature we can't deny that, can we? They've certainly come a long way and as much as I love all of their videos this has to be their best one yet. A.J's crying scene in the bus that said "Denniz St." I was so touched by the close up of his tears running from his eyes. And I really found myself going back to last year and thinking about all they've been through. I felt and still feel for them. Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely was brilliant and if they're going to keep the good work going, I just can't wait for their next video to come! Also the part where Nick pulled the girl out of the way of the bus reminded me of my own experiences two years ago 1998 on summer when my father got ran over by a car. He was in coma for over three weeks and luckily did survive but was left with a serious epilepsy and a brain damage. He is just so lucky to be alive and I'm so lucky to have him back. It would have been horrible to lose someone so close.

So, hold on to the ones that you love and remember to feel lucky for all the love that you have. It is a privilege and sit down for a minute and think about this amazing, exceptional and touching video. Once you realise what I mean, and I hope you do, I'm sure you'll feel different and remember to give out as you take in.

Peace out.

P.S And everyone! Feel free to e-mail me. I'd be more than happy to hear from you.

Well, what can you say about this video. It is the best they've ever done. It shows that they are maturing and

that they are not just some "boy band" because they are much more than that and deserve more credit than that.

I think it is great how personal this video gets. No, the boys do not have perfect lives and they do have problems

just like you and me... I was almost crying when I saw Brian and Kevin's part.

I think the little special effects were great, I hope they use the same guy again. The wavy thing with the two

girls is a nice touch. The black and white with red or blue every once in awhile was cool. One of the best parts

of the video was"Denniz St." I cannot get over that. Nick's part I have to say I really didn't get at first, but it was

a good idea, being different from all the other boys. The ending.....well I don't really like those special effects

that much, but don't get me wrong. (I'm way too picky for my own good.)

Well, I guess that's about it, KTBSPA!

SMTMOBL video= A+++++

I just want to say this is the best video I have ever seen!!! The emotions and the meanings of each role the boys play in this song is so very moving. To start we pan out to a hospital scene where you see Brian watching somone in a hospital bed with a very low heart rate and then the camera pan in to find out it is him, he is remebering the time of his heart surgery and the feeling is so deep it puts us there with him. You see then doctors run down the hall as he can remember all the pain and how scared he was. We see Brian walk off to the distant white light....Had he died???

Then it pans to AJ in a huge bus all alone. There we get the symbolism of how lonley he really is. You see him staring at a picture perhaps of the girl he lost as a teenager when she dies from a car accident. The camera pans to his cheek where you see a tear roll down it, at this point I am in tears myself. He see's the girl in the bus an thinks that all the lonliness is in his imagination when in fact he looks back and she dissaperas, he then relizes the lonliness he has to overcome. When he steps off the bus in a very moving way he pats the bus driver on the shoulder. Who is driving the bus??? It is Deniz and as he steps off you can see the name of the street he was going to 'Deniz St.' as AJ looks back in the bus Deniz is gone. Very heart wrenching and a nice tribute to Deniz.

Then we come to Kevin's part, which had me crying more than I was before. He is sitting in a solem hotel room, again another symbolism of lonliness. At this part you see old video's of his father, who he lost in '91 to cancer, on the wall as he sing's his part. You can actually see the emptiness inside Kevin. Also on the table sitting next to Kevin is the lyrics to the song, 1/2 written perhaps. When Deniz died the song was 1/2 written and Max Martin finished the other half, very symbolic and a nice refrence to Deniz.

As we pan to Nick, might I say looking very grown up, walking down the street singing his part, again down a lonley street, another touch of sybolism in the whole being lonley issue. Sings with such power wanting to get out the feeling he has of being so lonley.

Then we pan back to Kevin, this part I thought was very ingenious of them, the words are "Are you with me now" and you can see Kevin's father's silhouette on the wall and you can see the pian in Kevin's eyes, almost like he is going to cry, it is so powerful you can feel the pain yourself.

Then we pan back to Nick as he walk up to a girl and pulls her from a moving bus, might I add she is the same girl AJ saw and it is the same bus that AJ was on and Deniz was driving. Nick wanting to be a hero in all his comic books he draws he became one at that instant but relized as the water rushed between then from the bus, which symbloizes seperation, that he was too late and the girl had already been killed. As we then pan to Howie's part sitting in the bar sipping on coffe he is remembering the pain he had as he lost his sister. "There's no where to run I have no place to go surrender my heart body and soul." As he says run he turns around to see his sister run towards his and relizes he has no control he can't bring her back, as this whole senerio is going on Kevin is in the backsground watching and can feel the same pain Howie is goig through "I know the pain, I have gone through the same thing friend." As Howie gets up, you pan back to brian walking out of the hospital and all the boys meet outside in the dreary day but then again is a beautiful sunset, they are in pain but are at rest with the tragedys they have gone through. While Nick sings "being lonley" you want to grab him and give him a huge hug and tell him it's ok and comfort him. Walking in the distance into a bright light they will always feel the pain but have to embrace the light of the future. The video was so powerful and I could feel the pain each boy had gone through. Some of us have gone through the same pain and can feel the same thing. The colors and acting and feeling where great in this video, well why??? Beacuse they where all real and real feeling are easier to act with. This video touched me, I want to watch it over and over again and feel the pain but then ebrace them and tell them I feel the same way but everything is ok. #1 video always this one is going far.

i think the smtmobl means never give up. their are always people around who know how you feel. even though they are gaone they will always be with you because they are in your heart. in the video brian is scared about his surgery and wondering if the people close to him will still be there for him whether he is the same old brian or not. aj is missing his girlfriend, he is trying to deal with the loss and move on with his live without leaving her memory behind. kevin misses his father, he wonders if his father knows he still loves him. howie is mourning his sister and trying to cope with the fact that she is gone, and nick, i think nick is still looking for his true love. i think the video is beautiful and that the song can help many people in more ways than backstreet knows.

Ok, I love the video SMTMOBL! It is very sad though, everytime I watch the video it makes me cry. This Video has a very deep meaning to it. The first time I seen the video, I understood Brian's, A.J.'s, Kevin's, and Howie's parts, but I could not figure out Nick's part?!.....I know brian's part has to do with him going through heart surgery (can't spell), and if he had failed he wouldn't be where he is today. A.J.'s is about his long lost love Ashley, who got in a car accident and past away, But she will always be in his heart. Kevin's part is about his Father, and even though his father is gone, his life will go on in Kevin heart. Howie's was about his sister who past away in september of 98, from a cancer, and he knows she is gone but not in his heart, and Kevin understands where he is comming from. I think i got Nick's part, I guess his is about his exg/f, they were fighting, and she ran off on him, he was going after her and saved her life, cuz she tried to kill her self by stepping in front of a moving

bus. The whole video is kinda in a a black 'n white video, and at the end, they get together and walk into a color world.

I love this video, I had my mother tape it on New Years Eve when it debuted, since I wasn't going to be home. From the first intro of Brian in the hospital bed, I lost it and started crying. This video must be a really big accomplishment for the guys since it talks and shows things pertaining to their lives. It really made me sit back and say wow, they have been through so much and they are still running strong! I loved this video it is one of their best! I understood all the parts referring to Brians surgery, Kevins dad, Caroline, and Dennis Pop. But I have one question, what is Nick doing? I didn't understand his part in the video, well if anyone knows please email me! KTBSBPA!!!!!!!

"Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely" The Cliffs Notes.

Chapter One: Music Videos 101

Music videos are images put to music and are not by any standard expected to be logical and/or coherent. Ever see Fantasia? Therefore, lots of stuff may seem weird and odd by real life standards (i.e., someone singing as they get off a bus), but it's a video, so it's all good.

Chapter Two: "Show Me The Meaning" of this Video

Okay. So, as was mentioned in Chapter One, videos are about capturing images to accompany the music, the visual essence of a song. So Mr. Gosling (Herr Direktor) decided to put lots of "lonely" imagery. Some of it contains specific references. Not all of it does. Who cares? Not every scene of that vid is meant to have some deeper meaning (see Chapter One). It's just a bunch of film noir-esque lonely stuff. Nick didn't have to have a bottle of JD and pic of Aaron in his hand to convey loneliness...the fact that he not only exudes it naturally but is walking ALONE in the rain is pretty indicative of "LONELY."

So yeah, so...not all of the video is required by some Backstreet Law to be representative of specific things that happened to them. That's why videos have CONCEPTS...not SCRIPTS, based on turgidly written autobiographies.

The guy in the ambulance is just some dude used to pad the vid's intro and to add what we call ambience. The girl on the bus is just some girl. The girl Nick saves is just some girl. Perhaps Kev and Brian were the only ones cozy enough with their pain to share it in the video.

Chapter Three: The End

The video was dark. Full of pain, loneliness, and despair. Then they come together, suffer together a bit, and walk into the light. The warm, promising light o' the future. Together. Not alone.

Epilogue: A Note to Video Viewers Everywhere

DON'T READ SO FRACKIN' MUCH INTO THESE THINGS. Or else, you'll get confused as to how Kev was flying that spaceship and dancing at the same time in the Larger Than Life video!! *OH, NO...IT'S SOOO CONFUSING!!*

Just because Kev made the offhand comment that it was a "deep little video" does not mean that every frame must be analyzed until it doesn't exist anymore.
