Concert Review: Cleveland, Ohio, September 19, 2001

Well, September 19th WAS suppose to be one of the best nights of my life. After all, I was going to be seeing the BACKSTREET BOYS! However, this night turned out to be the worst by far, and it wasn't even the Boys fault.

Well, being the crazy fan that I am, I arrived at Gund Arena at noon. There was already a couple of fans lingering around, like 3 or 4. So, I walked around downtown, and went to Tower City, had lunch, then walked back, which was about 2pm. Then, basically waited and waited. I talked with a few other fans who were pretty nice to me. Then, around 4:30, a FOX8 news crew sets up near us, and we thought: "Wouldnt it be cool to be on TV?" So, we went over and asked if they were reporting on the BSB concert tonight, and the reporter was like, "Not really... just on the heigtened security" and we were like "Oh... well, can we stand behind you with our signs?", and she replied, "Well, the longer you stand here talking to me, the least likely I am to say NO!" Man... what a...youknowwhat! So, we went back to our corner, and these little Barbie Doll girls come over with their crappy sign, and the reporter was like... "Oh! You girls can stand here, sure!" We booed her for that. The police informed us 20000x no cameras, pursues, backpacks, etc. allowed inside, otherwise it would be taken away. Well, I had my camera safely hidden in my pants, so I got through the gate a-ok. Went to buy a t-shirt...and I might add the prices were outrageous! $20 for a laminated pass? $8 for a glowstick? Geez...

Well, when the usher showed me my *seat*, I was pretty happy. I was about 20 rows back, and the catwalk, the one they sing Time on, was right above me, and to the left a bit. That meant... I was gonna be inches from them if they looked over me. Yayyyy!! Krystal was good, got the crowd going, and Sisqo was okay, but he didnt play the Thong Song, which I was VERY dissapointed with. Then, there was about a 10-15 minute wait, then the lights went out, and the crowd started to scream! We were all jumping up and down, as they showed the meteors crashing into the earth, I could feel the heat from the pyrotechnics even. That was when events took a turn for thr worse...

A HUGE 400-lb guy comes over and says "That is my seat." and I was shouting over the noise, "No, it's mine!", and he was like, "Well, here's my ticket", and he showed it to me, and I showed him mine...WE HAD IDENTICAL TICKETS!! Well, he wasnt gonna play the part of the sweet gentlemen, giving the BSBFan since Day 1 the seat and have a good time, noo... he called the usher over, and he was like... "Uhh... well, you are going to have to move." He said that to ME! Then he walked away, and the 400-lb guy was like, move it! Soo...I had to surrender my good seat, which I was VERY mad about! Then I had no place to go, so I made a home out on the aisle as the BSB came rising up, and started to do "Everyone". A lady standing to the side of me was like, "Honey, you need to move!" So, I went back to the usher, and told him, "Where am I suppose to go?" And he said, "Well...there are some empty seats up on the concourse." The concourse?? I didnt pay over $100 for my ticket, just to go on the very top!! So, I told him as they started to play "Larger than Life", ... "Thank you very much. This was suppose to be one of the greatest days of my life, and you turned it around, and made it one of the worse!" And I left the arena, went in my car, and started to cry for a little bit.

I know, people expect HAPPY reviews...I just needed to get this off my chest. I will be contacting Ticketmaster about this too...So, I hope everyone else who got to see them enjoyed the show, please...feel free to contact me and tell me what happened afterwards!

Later Days
