Now or Never? That was the question asked by Nick Carter through the title of his very first solo CD. It is safe to say that he chose now, and I think many fans are very happy about that.
Now or Never is a distinctively different album. Nick has preached about wanting a “rock” album. Well, that’s is what he gave his fans. With his own style to it, Nick’s album is one of the best I have heard in many years. From a punk-rock sound with “I Just Want To Take You Home”, to the more mellow 80s feeling song “Miss America”, right down to the power ballad “Do I Have To Cry For You?”, Nick has managed to create a fantastic mixture of clean music. This is an album that anyone with an open mind can enjoy.
Backstreet Boys. How does Nick’s past with the vocal group affect the sale of his album? Simple, many people aren’t giving Carter a chance. “I don’t like the Backstreet Boys. Why would I want to buy that?” That is an example of just some of the excuses I have heard. What most people fail to realize is that Nick as a solo artist and Nick as a BSB are two totally different performers. In comparison, that Backstreet Boys we all know and love has strayed very far away from is pop roots. Even his ballads are rock oriented. Many people keep describing this album as pop/rock, but I fail to see the pop in it. It is simply too unique to be anything but rock.
If more performers that ventured out on their own could release an album as good as Nick’s, I don’t believe I would have to worry about the future of music that way I do. Nick has come through, and lived up to all the hype surrounding his album. I would recommend this to anyone.

HElP ME- nice catchy song, don't understand y it didn't do well as a single, is everyone deaf or somethin? i loved the song
MY CONFESSION- very nice and carefree, fresh and i love the part where the drums get louder and they make the music all weird and make nick's voice and husky and everything. that's my fav. part of the song
I STAND FOR YOU- man, i love this song, it's the kinda song that will have you jumping around after a bad day; nice and carefree w/ attitude
DO I HAVE TO CRY FOR YOU- a beautiful song, my second favorite ballad on here, i love how when the high notes are comin up, nick starts like not screamin, but u kno it's a nick thing, and the drums starts playin louder, beautiful, i love the lyrics. it's so deep and nick should be proud that he co-wrote this song
GIRLS IN THE U.S.A- i dunno y some girls r sayin this song scares them, it's written about/for them. i act. think this song is very fun. i was just blarin it on my stereo (waitin for neighbor calls, lol)
I GOT YOU- at first when i heard this song i was like, what's so special about it? but then i heard the whole song, and it's gotta be one of my fav. on this album considerin how i worship this album, it's gotta be pretty good
IS IT SATURDAY YET?- ok, this song when i first heard it i was like, is nick having an Aaron moment or what? it sounded like something aaron would sing, not that there's anything wrong with aaron, i got one of his cd's and he's cool. but then i can totally relate to it, i'm still a teen and everythin so...love the Jerry springer part. lmao
BLOW UR MIND- ok, at first when every1 was sayin how hot this song was, i was like, this song, nothing special, but it's totally grown on me. it reminds me of avril's SK8TER BOI, u know how they got a guy and a girl...imo great song
MISS AMERICA- it's an ok song, but it's kinda slow, but u can tell even tho nick didn't write this one, he's def. all man. (fans face lol i'm crazy, feel free to ignore me lol :)
I JUST WANNA TAKE YOU HOME- this song, when i first heard the clips from the net, it was my fav. song, but now it's cool, but not my fave. has a blink 182 feel.
HEART W/O A HOME (I'LL BE URS)- this is my fav. ballad on the cd, i love it! it rocks and even has a little country in it. great piano and drums moderation and the lyrics r soooo freakin good. the whole " ure the bluebird in my sky...i just wanna see u fly" part, so sweet, great bad day song
WHO NEEDS THE WORLD- sweet, my least fave. ballad on the album, but still is unique and has teh pow'r to heal. deeply touchin tho.......
that's my whole review, kinda long huh? but i gotta say for a solo debut album, it freakin rox, no one can beat him. nick has talent, regardless of what critics say. they're just jealous
