As I am a regular reader of this webpage, I've seen some reviews of the BSB latest album "Millennium" and decided I needed to share my opinion with you.

You might not remember me from the " Larger Than Life Video Reviews (Part III)". As I wrote on my review, I am an 18 year-old former Anti-BSB and was hooked since the release of Millenium, so my review comes from a different point of view.

THE SONGS

Larger Than Life: This is the song that made me say "This is so not BSB!!". The song has a rock feeling, absolutely different from what they've done before. The electric guitar is very appropriate to the song. I don't know if you've felt this, but every time I listen to this song I get a feeling of... hope and gratefulness. One of my favorites.

I Want It That Way: Typical heart-breaker. Great song!! The words are a little confusing and seem to not make sense, yet they allow for many interpretations. It's neither happy nor sad, It's just a song that can reach anybody's soul.

Show Me The Meaning...: *Sniff, Sniff* Sad song. Great lyrics. Performed very professionally by the boys. They really put their soul into this song.

It's Gotta Be You: "Everybody"'s back!! It has the same catchy "Everybody"' beat. It's not good, It's not bad, It's just your typical BSB party song. The lyrics are not the best, but the Boys did a great job singing this song.

I Need You Tonight: I like this song, the lyrics are great and have a feeling of desolation. A little slow, but it fits the song perfectly.

Don't Want You Back: YES!!! This is my favorite of all my favorites. Why, You ask? Because it's the edgiest song of the album, and it's about hate, a theme that was basically untouchable on the BSB other 2 albums. It's a really intense song and you can feel all the pain and hate, not only with the lyrics but also with the music and the way the boys sing it. It has a hip-hop feeling. Great song!! I hope they release it as a single and make it's video.

Don't Wanna Loose You Now: Lovely. This boys got some real good writers for this album! Perfect for the heart-broken audience.

The One: I know most of you don't like this son, but I absolutely love it!!! It gives me a feeling of hope, just like LTL. The boys sing great in it, specially Nick and A.J. It was efficiently written. At first it reminded me of some of the songs from "The Never Ending Story II" soundtrack. A potential hit.

Back To Your Heart: Almost too slow for me, but let's face it, IT'S BEAUTIFUL.

Spanish Eyes: Almost too slow, but it's a good song. Some parts of the lyrics don't make much sense to me, but Nick and Howie sound great.

No One Comes Close: TOO SLOW!! Good lyrics, but I get really bored after the first minute.

The Perfect Fan: Cute Cute Cute!! This song it's just cute. Well written, well performed, perfect for mothers' day.

IN GENERAL

This is a must have CD. It has music that makes people feel good, and that's something we're lacking right now. Changing management was a good BSB desitions. They sound more relaxed and satisfied with their career. They've grown, they are more professional now, and we can all tell.

HIGHLIGHTS

* Kevin and Howie!!! I don't understand why they don't have more solos. They have great voices and deserve to sing more!!

* The BSB involvement in the production was efficient and adequate to the success of the album. Brian and Kevin wrote fantastic songs, and the other boys' collaboration on the songs' arrangements showed their talents surpass those of "great singers, great dancers, good looking, entertainers" cliche. They're smart too, and we can see that now.

* Nick has grown!! His voice is deeper and way better.

* In some songs, like LTL, I couldn't tell weather A.J. or Brian was singing. A.J.'s voice has come a long long way!!! He is a really intense singer.

* The BSB are actually becoming more appealing to the male audience. After all, if Howard Stern is on your side, you're saved.

SIDENOTE

* Critics: I see the BSB situation with the critics being the same as Madonna's. Madonna came to the music business with a not very common product and a unique sense of style and the ability to re-invent herself. And what happened? It took her more than 10 years to win the respect of the critics. And that's exactly what's happening with the Boys.

Also, of all the reviews I've read, the critics are not reviewing the content of the album and the way it was made, but the popularity of the group, which reinforces my theory of Madonna and the BSB's situation.

Ok, I'm done. I hope I didn't bore you with it!! If you have any comments, feel free to e-mail me: gcquinte@epm.net.co

And remember that keeping the Backstreet pride alive it's not about loving or dissing the boys looks or wanting to see their girlfriends dead. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC, THE MUSIC, AND ONLY THE MUSIC!!
