Hey everyone! It's me, Jennifer, again from the 1999 MTV video awards review. Yeah, I know, you all hate me or something, but hey, a girl's gotta speak her mind. Now I guess I'm gonna have to put this disclaimer on this again because some illiterate people didn't read this part. I am a dedicated Backstreet Boys fan, I'm not just pretending.

On top of that, Mindy (my bitter best friend) wasn't gonna say anything about this video until Muchmusic (our cheap ass Canadian version of MTV) played it for the 15th time in 2 days and her brainwashing chip eroded in her head. (Yay! Mindy woke up!)("Damn and it was such a nice dream. Me, Brian, very few clothes...") So now, this is a JOINED review. (Aren't you guys lucky?!) And you thought I was bad? I'm nothing compared to her! My boyfriend has mellowed me out (much to your advantage) but it's not the same with Mindy. She's just bitter.

This review is also a continuation to my controversial MTV Video music awards review...you damn teenyboppers that emailed me telling me I'm not a "real fan": So what? I'm a "pretend fan"? I must admit that they have put a brainwashing chip in my head too...however ineffective. It just kicks in occasionally...."BSB are perfect..." Uh-oh! I'd better be going...."They can do no wrong..." See ya!!! Now, on to the video review.

Space: The final frontier...wait a sec, Backstreet Boys?? Some countdown to millennium is on the bottom of the screen, which would normally be appropriate, but one problem: in the video, it's the year 3000! Are any of us gonna be around then? NOO! Will they be around then? NOO! Who knows? They might not be around as BSB in 2 years, let alone 1000 years!

A space ship flies by the camera....oo...futuristic my butt. Star Wars rip-off. And I wait anxiously to hear my beloved song and I hear.....We've got it goin' on??? I Want it that way?? Quit Playin' Games?? Ok, by this time I'm confused and it's more like "Quit playin' games with my mind!!!" I wait again, and....As Long As You Love Me?? Everybody??? But, sound doesn't carry in space...

We start off with Huggy Bear the robot *danger Will Robinson, danger* hitting an elevator button, *first floor, silverware, five sexy men in saran wrap* and we have light. Then Larger than life starts playing...(FINALLY!) Then, the tupperware, *dum, dum, dum* Is that how they stayed fresh so long?? ("wow, AJ, you don't look a day over 2000....")

Hmm. Now, the clothes, can I just say, if that is the fashions coming up in 3000, I welcome death and feel nothing but pity for my offspring's offspring's offspring's offspring's offspring's offspring. Ok, it's bad enough that they had to make us ill for one night with those ugly clothes, but now we have to be feel ill until a new single comes out and with them, you never know when that'll be!

Ok, Brian's like playing ping pong on a floating snowboard with bad hair and shoulder pads bigger than in the 80's....I find so many things wrong with that...(Brian, my sweet Brian, I like his hair colour?)

Then there's Commander Kev. He looks pretty cool....'cept for pushing those imaginary buttons on the imaginary panel...("do you see them? do you see them?" "yes Kevin....I see the pink bunnies too....") He's like sitting in command central or something. I dunno what to make of it. Kev, what's with the jerky movements, Nick's the robot, your the sexy, broody, loner, jeez you never show up for script meetings.

(Breaking news: Jenn and Mindy are having a conversation, why don't you listen in? :

Mindy:"And what's with the line down Kevin's face?..."
Jenn:"He's an alien, can't you tell?"
Mindy:"Really? I thought one of 2 things happened to make that line, one the make-up artist was drunk or didn't wear glasses, and had an eye liner pencil,"
--Make'up lady: is that your eye?
--Kevin: No, that's my forehead...
--Make'up lady: Same thing. *giggle*
Mindy:"two, Kev was drunk and convinced it was cool..." --Kevin: believe me *hic*, I know what I'm talkin' about, it will be all the rage next year *hic*

Now back to our regularily scheduled bitterness...

Oo! Oo! Then there's Nick. He's a dressed in cheap plastic with bad silver paint on his face trying to be a robot. ("Nick, very convincing robot, could never tell you were human.") And the whole concept of his dancing. A robot doing the robot....how ironic...Did ya notice, when it's the difficult moves, like the breakdancing, the robot's do it, but not Nick, very suspiscious. Then he like bows to the camera like a samurai (Little grasshopper-sahn) and like dies while standing up. *woohoo, no more robot dance* But somehow...the bridge recharges him (???). (DAMMIT!)

Ok, Howie is scaring me. He's on a conveyor belt type thing dancing smoothly (Hello Jamaroquoi) I think he's in the wrong video. Oh, the virtual insanity. Howie, the bendy wall thing made me nauseous.

Now AJ, he's looking a bit better this time in his single scenes, but I'm still emotionally damaged from that gay aerobics shirt. My scars may heal eventually, but AJ'll be paying for my therapy bills! Mark my words! Well, he looks pretty cool with that whole cyborg get-up...the mic is a good effect. It makes us think they actually sing in the videos! The tentacles are beyond me. He may be cute, but if I saw those things comin' at me in a dark alley, I wouldn't be stickin' around....although hugging him and getting an autograph could be interesting. Imagine the pictures! ("AJ...umm...where did those other arms come from? They weren't there a minute ago...umm...help?!" or "AJ, that's your hand around my waist, right?" "yeah.." "Then what's that creeping up my skirt???") (AJ, like the outfit, ya just get too into it, stop bouncing dammit.)

Flash, to Brian, and little miss thang, *urge to kill, rising, rising* Nick again *rising, rising* more Howie and AJ *rising, rising* Kev with the funny line down his face, *rising, that's it, I'm gettin' a gun* Brian again *urge to kill fading, urge to jump Brian rising*

Of course, we can't forget that dance scene at the end. My opinions stand about their outfits. The dancers are still dressed like cheap call-girls. The dances moves just give everyone the wrong idea. It makes it look like they like it rough. *l* It doesn't help that the girls kinda look like dominatrixes.

Only in a Backstreet Boys video could their lives be threatened and they deem it time to dance. *Shoot! We have to kill them! Damn boy band! Ok, we got them where we want 'em. They're in our grips! *muhahahaha* Wait Joe...their dancing. Wow, my whole life has been changed be their choreographed dance moves, let's join the ballet. Yes let's, thank you Backstreet Boys* ("If we dance, they can't see us.")

Is it my imagination, or was Brian talking to himself, watch careful, you'll see it *oh yeah, I'm bad, they all think AJ's the best dancer, but I'm Lord of the Dance* Then, my fav, you'll know it when you see it, "biker pixies". There's this one move where they like flap their arms like they think they can fly. ('Always' brings you "New Backstreet Boys.....with WINGS!")

The very end is so Backstreet's Back it's not funny. They said they wanted to make a video as good or better than Backstreet's Back, not a replica. ("I can't believe the bus broke down!" "I'll get it fixed, y'all just chill here for a...") Clues: Huggy Bear (bus driver), same ending dance move, big dance scene...The only problem with this dance scene is the moves aren't as simple as Backstreet's Back so we can't learn them!

The video over all was ok, but a bit of a disappointment. For an anthem to the fans, we were surprisingly absent. Let's consider: It's about the fans but, there are no fans in it. They're so contradictory! It hurts my head! Agh!

If you look at the start of the vid, you see it says 3000, we kept them alive, bought them good tupperware, while we dropped like flies. Is that really fair? Or, we could be the people in the jets trying to kill them for how "I Want It That Way" made no sense.

Song ends, back in the tupperware, Bri looks lonely, think I might join him. Ship sails off into the sunset. But, sound still doesn't carry in space dammit!

All in all, this video is very disturbing and strange. But, one good point, didn't see Leighanne *doing dance of joy*

Oh well, we'll have to wait for the next blockbuster rip-off. Until then, continue watching that bad Star Wars imitation and chant with me: "The Backstreet Boys are perfect. They can do no wrong." ("hey Nick! I think the brainwashing's taking effect! Quick sing before they come-to!")

Now for some humourous quotes:

--"Nick, I am your father...", "Lou? where are you Lou? Is that you Lou?

Kevin?!? AHH! Mommy!!!! You never told me! *cries*"

--"Let the force be with you, AJ..." "I hear my beloved dead dog..Oh sh!t, he was 'TOBY' Wan Kanobi, wasn't he? My bad."

Being the Backstreet Boys fanatic that I am, I had to write a review for "Larger Than Life", the BSB's new video. I regret to say that I didn't like it the first time I saw it. I mean, I was completely shocked. It was nothing like I expected, and I was disappointed. Then, I saw it again, and thought to myself, "Well, I guess this is kind of cool....", and after that, it just sort of grew on me. I've been a fan of the song since I got the album, and now I love the video. It's got an awesome concept, but it is something that only the Backstreet Boys could pull off. My favorite part would have to be when they do the dance routine at the end. I love their costumes, and the dance itself. It is obvious how hard they worked on it. And isn't that cool how the robot in the beginning has the face of the bus driver from "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)"? I totally love the whole futuristic atmosphere, and how edgy it is. I think they devoted this video to proving that they are not just some "boy band" who teenage girls faint over, but talented artists who have a sound for everybody. If that was their goal, I personally think that they done a wonderful job fulfilling it, and if not, it is a great video anyway. Thanx!

First of all to the wackos out there who think there is some hidden message in the video...Give me a break!! Oh yeah, like the boys sat there and thought about this evil idea and to screw with all of our heads! Hello! They don't even have time to hardly sleep!! The actual point of the video, the part that real fans understand and people with a life understand. The CD is called Millennium...right? Right!! Yeah, you know the big thing now people is the whole 2000 thing and wow here's the new Millennium! To go with the boys's whole album concept they decided to do a cool video for "Larger Than Life" that would be better than "Backstreet's Back" and did a good job...The point is that they are all in a space ship in the future...No biggy there...they are some what showing they will be around for a long time so watch out! :) Brian is just having some fun outside the ship playing tennis!! A.J. is being refueled from a long sleep or whatever, Nick , well just had a typical Nick character...I mean who else would have wanted to be the mummy? he he :) If you are really a fan you know Nick's personality and he was dying to be a robot. That's just Nick!

Oh is there a message in the mummy thing now too? We have trapped Nick in the mummy cloth and he can't get free! Oh get a life!! Kevin is in command and since he is the oldest it just fits him and Howie well I haven't figured that out, but it goes with the whole album booklet. Now, it is very hard to come up with a cool video idea and they wanted to beat out "Backstreet's Back" and they haven't had a very complex video yet and they wanted to make an awesome video for the fans for the whole Millennium thing and they did..And hello Space=Millennium!! It goes!! It is very hard to come up with ideas and it is hard to pic out 5 cool parts for each of the guys to play on a space ship...Just like Kevin and Nick were stuck with strange parts in "Everybody". Could you think of a better idea for the video? I can't! I was expecting something like that.

The video is great, I mean they already did the fan thing in "I Want It That Way" and with "Larger Than Life" it is sorta hard to make a video with them singing to the fans with this song because it is so fast and stuff. I thought they all looked great and cute!! The dance moves are awesome and I like A.J.s shirt...He just wants to show off his tattoo!! Another point: Yeah, while the guys were on MTV talking live with their fans and being as wonderful and as sweet as can be on the Live from Orlando thing(They took out their time and their break time for us fans!!), this major plot was going on for the video...HA HA! Give me a break!! Grow up!! The boys have, so why don't some of the so-called fans.

The only dissapointment in the video to me was that the dance scene is a bit to dark because you can't tell whose who and the dancers get in the way. BACKSTREET ROCKS AND THEY ARE LARGER THAN LIFE! Oh yeah another point...the guys made a wonderful song for all of us and for some of you to go and say things about their video is like turning on the guys and you call yourself a fan. Well, I don't...real fans know the boys better than that! KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!

Larger Than Life is a very cool videoclip, I could say. The special effects are damn kewl... and I'm hoping the video would get nominated in the special effect category in next year's VMA. Joseph Khan did an excellent job! All the boys looked great! This vid also shown how diff'rent the boys could change their appearance... I mean, just look at IWITW and compare it to Larger Than Life.. You know what I mean? The dancing is great, too! All I can say is... keep up da good work!

I'm sorry to keep this debate running, but I feel compelled to defend this video (which I consider to be their finest yet).

The concept for the Larger than Life video was perfect. It was the most personal video yet for the Boys. You can tell that they had an enormous amount of fun, and their "roles" really reflect their styles and interests (except maybe Howie ... I'm not sure what's going on there with the guys in black waving their arms behind him).

And yes, LTL does have something to do with the fans. Instead of going back in time (Everybody), this time they're going forward to 3000. Cryogenically frozen, the BSB live on through the millennia, traveling through the universe to a continuously looping BSB soundtrack. They're clearly telling the fans that "all of your time spent keeps us alive."

And although I can see why some people see it as a "ripoff" of Everybody, I prefer to consider it a sequel, just as the Boys told us it would be.

By the way ... the Boys have given us plenty of great videos that had nothing to do with the song. Remember All I Have To Give (synchronized swimming and a hat dance?), Quit Playin' Games (the artistic highlight of which was Kevin rolling his chest in the rain), or the American version of INBYH (speaking of a cheap-looking video with cheesy special effects ... ooh look the boys are singing in a tunnel ... and now the camera's panning up and down an apartment building while each of the guys sings to a girl in his own specially designed "domain" ...)? And those are videos I like.

Out of the videos I don't like, there are plenty of crummy ones with _really_ screwy concepts. Try "God Must Have Spent ..." by NSync. The song was about romantic love, yet they turned it into the story of a mom and her son. Rather disturbing, once you think about it ... but I digress.

Even if you think they looked ugly, you have to admit that BSB had the guts to break out of their "pretty-boy" image and make a video with texture and depth. I applaud them for the Larger than Life video.

Hey everyone!

I've been reading the "Larger Than Life" video reviews and I know that for the most part, it's been getting EXCELLENT reviews. Oh well, why not add one more!

First off I'd like to comment on some stuff that people were saying about the video who will remain nameless (mainly cuz I can't remember thier names).

The whole "Hidden Message" thang: what were you guys on when you came up with that theory??? The guys are not trapped anywhere and Kevin's not shooting at anyone! Do you really think that BSB would spend that much money to have some kind of hidden message against the fans, while doing a song that they dedicate TO the FANS?!?!

Another thing is, some people were puttin' down the guys dance costumes. Frankly, I love them. I'll admit, that I didn't really like the clothes at the MTV Video Awards but that was before I saw the video. I mean, com'on, that style of shirt AJ was wearing will most likely be in style in the future. It was in the past! Guys used to wear those belly tops all the time. Also, I think it's great that he showed off his tattoo. K, someone said something about Nick getting away from the N64 games. Why should he do that? Is it in some way bothering you? Could his playing video games on his off time to *gasp* do something normal possibly bother you that much that you have to come on here and say that he should get away from N64 because one fan thinks that he's a bit too obsessed with it? Well, now, I'd like to say my comments of the video! :)

First of all, I thought this was a great video. I'm not sure if I like it the same or more than "Everybody". It's just wicked.

THE BEGINNING: I think it's really cool that they get that guy from "Everybody" to come back. Me and my sis thought that it was Brian for a while but I (being the smarter one) recognized him. :) Plus that part where the ship is flying over and the BSB music is playing is cool. It's like someone is flicking channels on a radio and every channel is BSB! Now that's a thought!

BRIAN: Whoa! I love this part. Especially the flip. I don't think he looks 16 years old. He doesn't look 24 but not as young as 16. He just looks awsome. And that ping pong thing was cool too.

HOWIE: OK, who was the genius that came up with the girl being Howie's girlfriend and rubbing up to him and looking at the camera like she's saying "HAHA I'm rubbing up to Howie and you're not," GEEZ! That's so stupid. That girl has to do whatever the DIRECTOR tells her to do. If she's suposed to look at the camera like that, than she has to do it, cuz if she doesn't, then she looses her job. Besides, if you were getting money to rub up to Howie D of the Backstreet Boys, wouldn't you??? I'd do it for free! Also, I love the room he's in. It sort of looks like Nick's room in INBYH. Anyways, it looks like he's underwater and stuff.

AJ: What's so hard to understand about AJ's part. He's not an octopus! Well, I don't know for sure but it sort of looks like he's controlling the ship along with Kev, y'know like turning switches with all his arms and stuff. I just love him in this vid. He looks like right dark and sexy. I love it!

Nick: Nick is my favorite BSB and he also just happens to have my fav segment. I love the robots dancing in the back. Also, when he's singin' "Lookin' at the crowd and I see your body sway" is so cool. And the "hah" they end. They add something at the end of Brian's "Wishin' I can thank you in a different way" too. Anyways, back to Nick's. I love his hair in this. It's not as long or as dirty looking as at the awards. He looks wicked.

Kevin: I love his part too! He's like taking on the roll of protecting and stuff and he's wicked at it too. Also, y'know, he wants to be a pilot and stuff too so I bet he loved it.

DANCE SCENE: AWESOME! Who said that Fatima's loosin' her touch? Man, this dance is so sharp and smooth and flawless. And I think that person said it looked easy too. Well, you must be like a professional dancer to say that's easy. And let me tell you, BSB are not professional dancers. (except for Kevin but that's ballroo dancing) Nick doesn't even consider himself a good dancer. Although I think differently. I think that the dancers look good in this. They looked a bit crowded at the MTV awards but I think that's because the cameras were moving around and stuff.

Well, all in all, I think this is one of the best videos. Even guys like it. Also, I bet the BSB love it too and had a LOT of fun making it. Especially Kevin and Nick cuz they were doing something they both love like Kevin was flying and Nick was a robot. Oh, BTW, I'm well aware that they weren't actually flying or actually turned into a robot. :)

Well that's it!

Cya!

After reading Part II and Part III of Larger Than Life video reviews, I am scared to death to read the reviews in Part I. I'm hearing all about these big conspiracy theories of how it is against the fans, and la de da. The fact that I am a BSB fan and have to say, "Yes, these people who wrote in are fans, just like me!" really makes me shake. I mean.. how can you think that?

Er.. wait... maybe I agree. I think ALL their videos have to do with that.... heres why!!!

We've Got It Goin' On: Okay.. see.. them dancing in the woods is a hidden message.. because they're wearing leather.. which is usually expensive, and any of the sap that falls from the tree represents how their fans are nothing because they fall on the jackets and ruin them. Brian and Nick washing the Jeep symbolizes them ridding themselves of us.. and then then playing basketball represents how we hinder them from playing basketball.

Get Down (You're The One For Me): How in this video, the giant disco bal they're on represents them walking all over us, because it's big and it's supporting them. THe bottomless put is a hidden message saying that we, the fans, suck them dry! And then what do ya know, the flying DJ guy, and the rest of the fans flying out of the TV screens represent how we mob them and they hate us, and want us to die!

Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart): This one has the biggest message of them ALL!!!! Them sitting in the basketball court doing nothing is a message about how we ruin their lives and make them boring!! Then the rain falling represents how much fans cry when they see them, and how they think it's completely stupid. So they stand under it with their shirts open and clinging to them looking all fine and sexy because they want to make fun of crying fans.

As Long As You Love Me: The girls in funny looking costumes secretly represent how BSB think the fans can't dress. They constantly change girls because, in this video, they want to get their point across that they never want to look at us for more than a second at a time. Then when they morph that has to do with how they have to change to be around us and they hate us ALL for it!!! Them dancing with chairs shows how they will do anything to distract us and make us look at their sexiness.

Everybody (Backstreet's Back): This represents how we as fans have turned them into monsters and all they want to do is get out!!! There's a million dancers and they TOTALLY take away fromt he video... If they're back, why doesn't the video have to do with them coming back from somewhere? See, I think they should have been coming back from being on tour, and they should have incorporated the fans, since they wouldn't have been back without us!!! So yeah... AJ being the phantom of the Opera was secretly saying how we all thought he has an ugly side and it totally breaks his heart. So he has a bunch of dancer chicks to make his libido feel better.. but hes still pissed because he hates the fans. Brian being a warewolf just flipping all over the place represents how he is a wild child but he can't because he has to act normal around is... he is all sorts of pissed about that!!!! Howie being a vampire secretly represents how he wants to suck us dry of our blood, which is a metaphor for our money! Kevin's being Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde is secretly saying that he's plotting to kill all of us w/all the stuff in his laboratory. Nick being a mummy secretly says that he is going to come to our houses and haunt us!!!!!!!

I'll Never Break Your Heart: Oh man!!! This one has so many!!! See, they're showing off there that they have girlfriends, and that they don't care if it hurts us because we don't mean anything. Nick's room shows how all he wants to do in life is draw and play Nintendo but because he has fans he cant - so he is showing how much he hates it. Then AJ's room represents how he is stuck in a refrigerator because we want to keep him 'normal' and cold. Howie's room shows how all he wants in life is to wear lots and lots of makeup and be himself. Brian's room is all about how he is a country boy and wants to be like John Wayne but instead of having a manly dog have a cute little chiuaua and stroke Leighanne's hair. Kevin wants to shave chicks legs but the hidden message here is that they can't do all that stuff!!!!!!!

All I Have To Give: In this one, they're wearing suits, bright colors, and singing into an old fashioned microphone to secretly say that they're all pissed off at us because we like them better when they wear black.

I Want It That Way:what we don't see in the video is the secret message. See, whent hey left, the plane blew up and it killed all the fans. because see, all they want to do is blow us up!!! Aj twitching when Kevin starts his solo secretly says he is disgusted that he has fans and totally hates us all. Showing the girl crying at the end secretly says that we're all a bunch of whiners.

With all this sarcasm, I could have gone on, SARCASTICALLY about the Larger Than Life video, and had the same little theories that some others ACTUALLY had. What makes no sense to me is how these people can seriously think that Kevin shooting at the X-Wings really represented him shooting at the fans. That's as strange as saying Howie dressed as a vampire meant he wanted to suck our blood.

Excuse me if this review comes off as mocking to the people who seriously thought the entire concept of the Larger Than Life video was some kind of conspiracy against fans, but all the 'reviews' of the older videos were just as far fetched. Sorry if you seriously think it's bad that its a 'ripoff' of everybody. If these people actually LOOOOOOVED backstreet as much as they claimed, they would have seen the third Backstreet TV, where they specifically stated that it was to be 'kind of a sequel to Everybody," and besides that... don't you think that since Everybody is THEIR VIDEO, that they CAN 'rip it off'? I mean.. if it was a ripoff of some other artist's video, I could see why people would gripe. But a 'rip off' of their own video!?

I say, congratuations to Backstreet Boys for not only impressing the male, and older people who are interested in music, but congratulations to impressing the hell out of critics, and people who would never, EVER associate themselves with Backstreet Boys. CONGRATULATIONS for coming up with a video concept that was VERY original.

I would like to express my point of view toward the new Larger Than Life video. well the video has great computer efects and from the view of technological stuff the video was great, but, im a fan and i really dont care to see all that i just want to see the guys. the concept of putting the five guys in different scenes was Kool but in some parts we couldnt appreciate their faces that well. nicks robots look great i like that and i like the touch that they give to his part(when the music stop and u just can hear him). kevins part just as howies part i didnt like because was the point, it has nothing to do with the song. brians part was good too and last but not least my baby A.J. i truly was expecting a better shot of his eyes and body, really. was it that thing! i love the dance part it was great especially A.J shirt. and well thats all i hope the next video will represent everithing i expect from them. here in Puerto Rico we KTBSPA!
