Now I have read all the reviews about the VMA performance to date and I have to say I disagree with most of them. Being an adult BSB fan, I loved the performance! It is obvious that they aren't just targeting the teen market anymore. They have a lot of adult fans now. I will admit that my initial reaction was one of shock. But after watching it a few times, I found I enjoyed the performance. I for one liked seeing that the boys are capable of more than the "clean cut" look. You also have to realize that 'Larger Than Life' has a real edge to it, and a performance like their 'Everybody' performance last year, just wouldn't have cut it. I think the look and the choreography was very suitable for the song.

One thing that I really commend The Backstreet Boys for doing, is being different. If you have been a fan for a while and have seen them perform on several award shows, they are always doing something different and in my opinion, just blowing their fans away, and the critics in this case. Award shows are their opportunity to show their peers what they are capable of. Just think, if they did the same thing all the time, then we would get bored. I for one am going to concerts in the fall and don't want to see the whole 'Larger Than Life' routine that they perform in the concerts. I want to be just as surprised when I see them perform this song in concert.

I'm sorry to hear that so many fans disliked their performance on Thursday Night. I think it just goes to show that the boys are always trying to better themselves and unfortunately they can't please everyone.

I just read all the reviews (see below) and I'm kind of disappointed. I'm deeply sorry, but I need to get a little naughty to say what I'm gonna say. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? Aren't you open minded at all? The BSB presentation was absolutely fantastic. And yes it was different but isn't MILLENNIUM absolutely different from the boys' other albums? And anyway, I'm sure the boys have won some respect from their business piers. Crackers With Attitude, that's what they are. Their performance was fantastic -- I've never seen Brian dance like that, he was phenomenal! Their suits where perfect for the song-- edgy, and that's what the song is, pure edge. They where about the only group that sang live, and with that spectacular choreography -- cheers to Fatima, that was brilliant. We have to admit it, they did great. Now, what's all that harsh criticism of the dancers. They did fantastic! And their clothes were great. If you were dancers you'd know how hard it would be to dance with long skirts or nun suits. It's even a little difficult to dance with pants (depending on what type of pants you're gonna dance with, of course). Those barbarela suits, the cat suit, and those chopper pants used by the dancers were great. It was an overall surprise and even the male audience was jumping and screaming and dancing. They were great, and I'm hoping to see more amazing performances soon. Can't wait to see Larger Than Life the video!

I've never written to anything like this before, and I cant believe I am now. I am just sitting here reading these comments on the Boys' performance at the VMA's. Half of them are saying the Boys did awesome, the other half are so-called fans writing about what the Boys "should" and "should not" be doing, singing, wearing, saying, thinking, and even more. They're doing what they like, what they want and what they feel musically. If you're a fan, great, buy the CD, look at your posters and spend your money on BSB lunchboxes. If you need to become a judge, fashion critic, psychoanalyst or gossip columnist, check yourself. Chris Rock was out of line saying the things he said about EVERY artist that night, how nice that the Boys' own "fans" are doing the same thing. Of course not EVERY single thing about them is gonna fly with everyone, but don't rip on them then say you love them. It doesn't work that way. Come on guys, we're better than that.

I'm at school writing this e-mail and I have to say I'm still in awe over the Backstreet Boys' performance last night on the MTV Video Music Awards. From the first time I heard "Larger than Life," I couldn't wait to see the Boys do that song in concert. I checked out the Disney special in July and thought the performance then was killer, but the one on MTV really takes the cake. First of all, Kevin was so gorgeous. Talk about eye candy in those tight leather pants! Brian was babe-a-licious, too. Guess it runs in the family. A.J. was looking fine (yea, even with that "shrug"), and Howie's hair was really cool. Now about Nick...even with his greaser thang goin' on, he was still looking good. The singing was right on the money (as usual), but my only complaint is that at times the Boys got lost in the sea of dancers on stage. Instead of trying to find Waldo, I was trying to find the Backstreet Boys. But anyway, it was still the best performance on the show and can't wait to see LTL premiere 9-13-99 on TRL. Hugs, kisses, and cookies!

First, I want to start by saying hello to all my fellow Backstreet fans and then a very big and well deserved congrats to the Backstreetboys themselves. i know the show was last night and it is fri. night that i am writing but i just finished reading the reviews. now, i have to voice my impression of their performance. i personally thought they were awesome! they did an incredible job with Larger Than Life and IWITW was moving as always. their dance moves were right on the beat and their costuming went with the number. now i know that not everyone agrees with me but you gotta admit they outshine every other performer there. we may not always like what they wear or how they do their hair but it is their music that makes us come back for more- over and over. i will always keep the pride alive and support them anyway i can. thanks for listening to me. LOL

Being a huge Backstreet Boys fan, I was really happy to watch them on the awards last night, though there were a few disappointments about their appearance. First of all, I like the way they're experimenting with some edgy new looks and dance moves, but they should stick to being a family-oriented band (no more dancers in tiny leather outfits please). Their choreography was really original and the dancing was well done by the boys themselves. They generally looked acceptable, but the shirt AJ wore was really unflattering and it really didn't suit him. Howie's hair will take some getting used to, but it's okay. Nick looked like he was either sick or really nervous, his hair and clothes looked too messy. Brian looked very good, his style is steadily slick and sophisticated, I like that, but why is he blond again? Kevin looked odd, but the whole look fit, so he's cool. But above all, i must say they deserve a lot of respect and admiration for having the courage to perform their songs live, unlike other artists (you all know who i'm talking about) who stuck to the safe side of lipsynching. Through it all, they delivered the music really impressively and once again proved themselves as real artists who are worthy of their tremendous popularity. They have ascended above other so-called "boy-bands" by proving their talent and by not thriving only on their good-looks. Generally, i was really proud of them for winning the Viewer's Choice Award and also for showing a sense of humor while Chris Rock made some funny yet crude jokes about them. They truly seem like amazing people, and this show just made me realize it even more. I'm proud as ever to be a slightly older BSB fan :)

Ok, I am a very loyal and dedicated Backstreet Boys fan, but I have to admit, their performance was far from stellar. When they came out in the beginning I was like 'ok, they're gonna do a fast one, then, they're on stools. (disappointment #1) Then, Brian went to sing, and his voice, surprisingly, was very shaky. He's usually the stable one. Then, Nick started singing (oh god, save us all). I don't think he hit one note right in his solo, and when it was over, he didn't stop there. He kept doing improv solos!!! I mean, if he couldn't do it the first time, what makes him think he could do it then? Besides, Nick didn't look all that spectacular...with that---hair----and he looked like he had no eyebrows....So then, the jackets come off...(like the new outfits are much better than the "Trenchcoat mafia" look). Ok, Brian looked like a sniper out to get *N SYNC, Kevin looked like "NFL goes biker", Nick was like "Hell's Angels lost in space", Howie was like wearing a bulletproof vest thingie...what's with that? An A.J.....my dear, sweet, gorgeous A.J., I'm sorry to say he looked like a gay aerobics instructor...The shirt could have been a smigin longer. I have to admit, when they went into "Larger than life" I was happy....(disappointment #1 cancelled). I said "Hey! A fast song!" Then the hookers (*ahem*...dancers) came out...(disappointment #2) They could have worn more clothes and dressed less like Cat Woman. The singing was ok, the dancing was great....but Nick's headbanging puzzled me....I think the clothes went to his head. I think Nick has this thing with his style at the time. He gets braids, he talks like a "G" out da hood...(Westside forever brotha) and he got those boots on and that hair long and loose, and BOOM! stomp, stomp, stomp....headbang, headbang, headbang. Overall, in the end I think it was ok. Don't blame me for my opinions, but hey, it's up to you!

Hey, hey, hey....i don't think you're gonna like my opinion here...but anyways, about the actual performance...what was up with that?! i was on the phone with my friend, and we were going crazy!! we were sooo pissed!! and i soooo didn't wanna go to school the next day (cuz i'd be sooo ridiculed!! which i was!!) ....but that performance was horrible!! i don't know HOW they can do that!! i mean, last year, they were great!! awesome!! i was proud to say, those are my BOYS!! but then, this year, ahhhh!!! i'm scared to even admit i know them!!! it's sooo embarrassing!! i thought it was horrible!! they looked nasty!! they're dance moves were getting kinda bad.....what is UP with fatima!!! and then, WHAT were they wearing?! onstage AND offstage!! i mean, onstage, AJ had that boob shirt!! and that was totally humiliating!! nick looked like a ninja!! brian was probly the most normal dressed one, but he looked feminine!! i don't know why, but recently (like in those new pics at the new bsb official site) bri's been looking feminine!! it's really quite scary!! anyways, and did you see that one dance move where like they literally jumped and flapped their arms!!! did you SEE that?! ewww!!! they looked like they were trying to fly, be like birds!! because they're larger than life!! i don't know, that's my understanding of fatima's interpretation of the song with those dance moves....and THEN, when they were like 'raising the roof' or whatever, but at an angle, and with their butts stickin out!! i don't know if it was cuz of how bri did it (cuz they were focused on him at that time), or if that move was seriously bad, but omigosh!!! i swear, don't the guys realize that what they do (say, act, dress, perform, etc.) soooo reflects on OUR part!! i mean, that's why i didn't wanna go to school!! ......okay, and now you're really gonna hate me, but that britney/n sync performance....i thought it mighta been one of the best of the show (oh yeah, and might i comment....this year's VMA's SUCKED!!!! omigosh, it was horrible!!! like, none of the performances were good {cept for a few}, and it was just stupid! and chris rock, man, when he hosted in '97, he was hilarious! but he was barely, if at all, funny this year!!)....but i also like the eminem performance...i thought that rocked!! and eminem is a cutie! haha! but the britney and n sync performance...well, pretty much, it was just a dance recital....and it was bad that they didn't even actually sing it (well, nothing new for britney, but it's real low for n sync)....but the beat was cool.....i liked it...thought it was cute and creative...kinda got bored during the n sync part, when they actually started doing their own choreography...that got boring....and britney looked nasty, that black outfit just wasn't working for her...and that whole joint performance thing..just a bit more evidence showing just how CLOSE justin and britney are (did you hear about britney flying off to n sync's next tour stop, and not being able to make it back for her own appointment with her fans!! PLUS they were in a hotel at two in the morning and ordered STRAWBERRIES!! ....but seriously, i think those two are perfect for each other....they both have that "i'm better than everyone else" aura about them).....oooh!! but when the bsb won for viewer's choice (which is AWESOME!! cuz that's the most prestigious award!!)...don't know, i was watching...did you see how brian kissed leighanne?? i thought that was so cute!! and did you SEE how awkward howie was (like for example, during chris rock's monologue in the beginning, and chris rock calls out backstreet boys as one of the boy bands, and howie like raises his hands in recognition or whatever.... no, you do not do that!!! el stupido!!!)....nah, but did you notice, that each of the guys had a li'l lady on his arm, CEPT for nick?! hmmmm!!!! ...but no, nick has to get a haircut....oh yeah, and when that dude stepped up to the podium/mike thingie, and was like "wake up at three"...did you see the look on bri's face?? i don't know, it looked to me like he was pissed...like, this is OUR time, what the hell do you think you're doing?!.....but bri was cool....OH my gosh!! did you see AJ's pants?! they were like tapered and high-waters!! like, not even touching the shoes ya know....i mean, i KNOW AJ goes for uniqueness and stuff, and i KNOW those pants are in style, but for GIRLS!!! damn, aj looked horrible!! i mean, with the boob shirt onstage, and then those nasty pants while accepting....i swear, he looked like an old man who couldn't dress himself with those pants! ugh, and nicky boy has to get a haircut...he is in DYING need of a haircut!! haha!! did you see him, like, rock out and start headbanging during larger than life!! haha!! the rock and roll in him came bursting out! nah, but you know how kevin thanked the fans and all, and that's usually nick's job? ...yeah, then nick like sticks his head in next to kev's, and SMILES!! and i was like, you FOOL, you don't need to lean into the mic to SMILE!!! and THEN, kevin lifted up or tilted the moonman, and the little flag thingie hit nick on the forehead!! haha!! what an idiot!! ....but it was cute how he was like, well i never get to talk so i just wanted to say hi everybody back home....i thought that was cute...stupid, but cute....and it's all kevin's fault!! he took nick's line!! you know why?? cuz kevin didn't thank fatima!! you know why?? cuz fatima's gone psycho!!! ....but anyways, another thing, AJ's GOT to lose those cop glasses....those are hideous!!! oh yeah!! and those sparkly shirts that kevin and howie were wearing!! i don't know, that print on kevin's shirt, looks like something my gramma would wear!! and howie's was just so bad, cuz it sparkled wayyyy too much!!! ...oh yeah, and side comment, did you see diana ross tap li'l kim's boob?! ugh, that was nasty!! man, i'm sorry, i didn't mean for this to get so long...i guess i just have a lot to say...haha!!

I know a lot of you guys are not going to agree with me, but I think the Backstreet Boys performance at the MTV awards was terrible. Now don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan, but I was very disappointed last night. I'm sorry but Backstreet Boys does not equal black leather. Nick looked like he hasn't taken a shower in days and why was it necessary for AJ to wear a half-top? Kevin looked like Edward Scissorhands. It just seemed to me that they were trying to portray an image last night that just isn't them and never will be. I will give them credit for their dancing, it was really good. I think they should just stick to their clean-cut image from now on. It shouldn't matter what you look like, it's the talent that counts. I just think they went a little overboard last night.

I know everyone watched the VMA's last night! Backstreet was incredible! They all looked awesome. I know everyone was saying how bad AJ looked in that short top... I admit he shouldn't have worn it, but he looked cute! Everyone said Nick looked bad, he needed a hair cut, he looked dirty..blah blah blah. My opinion is that Nick looked wonderful. I loved his hair, his outfit, just everything. I was shocked that he showed off his arms...cuz he never does, but is he built! Those arms were WHOA!! And it showed off his tattoo so that was cool. Brian, Howie and Kevin looked great as always. Larger Than Life was just amazing.....and they sang it live unlike Silicone Spears and N Stink. Anyway, I was a little disappointed that they didn't win more awards, but I knew Lauryn Hill would win Video of the Year for certain reasons that I'm sure you all know about. But TLC winning Best Group..um no. That shouldn't have happened. I was crying and screaming when BSB won Viewer's Choice! I'm sure all of you have it taped just like me! Crackers with attitude was so funny!

No one has said anything about Brian almost collapsing at the awards yet and it needs to be brought to the fans attention... I was watching their awesome performance that brought tears to my eyes when my cousin called at the end and she was yelling into the phone "Did you see Brian collapse?" and she started rambling about what happened. I rewound my tape and watched it very closely. It's very hard to see and I had to rewind and pause a lot. When they are up on the stage at the end you can see Brian in the middle grab the area between his chest and stomach and lean over like he is about to fall and then (what a babe) he gets up and finishes the dance routine. My Mom and I were freaking out and were so scared we didn't know if he was ok or not. Thank God they won viewer's choice and he came out and was just fine. He is just so awesome but let's just hope he was out of breath and it wasn't his heart problems coming back! BSB rules! BTW, who the heck was that guy that came out and was like "wake up at 3"? LOL! That was hilarious when Brian's like "Get that guy outta here!" That's what proved to us he was fine and dandy! KTBSPA!

I thought the performance was great! It was nice and different, no offence but it would a pretty boring performance with IWITW! That song is great, but it would not get a crowd that big (and not everyone there was a bsb fan) pumped. But Larger Than Life did! I am so sick of peeps losing respect over one performance! Yeah it was different, but, the song is a little more on the egde, and that is such a dumb reason to lose respect just over one performance! Critics are having a lot more respect for them now, because they proved that they can look good doing anything! They had to sing AND dance (unlike many other acts!) with only one day to get it all together, I think it totally rocked! They looked great too, Howie's hair looks awesome like that, Kevin looked fine like usual, Brian was adorable, Nick looked sexy with that look, and AJ was hott! I liked their outfits too, even AJ's it was different but I bet thats a new trend or something, well, you know him! So, overall, it rocked!

Sorry to say, but the performance that BSB put on was one of the worst! I mean i think they're the bomb but this was one of the worst performances! What was up with AJ's shirt?!?! I was like, what the freak?! And the dancers...I'm not even gonna go there! Most of them looked so skanky! Next time they should pick a better wardrobe. This performance was nothing compared to last year's. Last year's performance rocked! This year, *N Sync and Britney's performance were even better then there's! I don't mean to put them down or anything, i love these guys, but they can do SO much better! At least they won the Viewer's Choice Award!

Hi!! Just like all of you, I watched the MTV Video Music Awards and I must say that the Backstreet Boys gave the most awesome performance ever! Some people complained about the guys and their performance. One thing that ticked me off is you guys talking about Nick! What's up with that?! Can you imagine how much stress he was under last night? They got at the Metropolitan Opera House THAT VERY SAME DAY they spent rehearsing for their performance they were doing THAT night! The guys try their best to look great and I think Nick was pretty dang hot! Second of all, about the dancers. You've got to understand that those are just COSTUMES!! Do you actually think that they dress like that off-stage (no, they're not like Britney Spears......hopefully!)? Please don't critize the dancers because of what they wear on stage. Its just costumes! I litterally sit there in front of my TV in awe Thursday night. It was the best I've ever seen them, the Boys and dancers both. Just wanted to point something out. Did anyone see when Chris Rock was talking about Backstreet and asked who was gonna be the one who got Britney Spears pregnant?!?! Well, when they fliped they camera around to Brian and they guys, did you see Brian's face when he said that??? I laughed so hard!! *hehe* Anyways, thank you for reading this and remember, the guys are normal human beings! They have their flaws just like we do. Congratulations Backstreet fans and of course, the Backstreet Boys for winning "Viewer's Choice Award." Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive in the new Millennium! :-)

Of course I watched the MTV Music Awards and I was in awe with what I saw. The Backstreet Boys were SO SO SO awesome. Words can not even DESCRIBE how perfect the routine was. I can't believe they put it together in only one day. The only problem was Nick's hair...I really don't understand what he was trying to do with it. Don't get me wrong girls! I still love him but his hair needed work. AJ looked original and stylin with his short shirt! Brian...OMG...can we say ADORABLE? He looked so sweet and just perfect (he's my fav)! Howie looked really cute with the braids....i really like them. Last but definetly not least is fine-to-death Kevin! He looked the best I'd ever seen him last night. You need to show your muscles more often hottie! =) And congrats to them for winning Viewer's Choice! Thanks to everyone that voted so that they could win. What was with that guy with the 3 AM thing? LoL That was kinda psycho! Anyway I thought BSB were the best preformers. N'SYNC and Britney Spears looked so so bad compared to the BSB. I want to say that the BSB amazed me with their preformance. Possibly the best I've ever seen them. BSB...if you are reading this, we as fans love you and we always will support you! =) Thank you for reading everyone! I'm so proud to say I'm a BSB fan, and I hope you are too!

My god, I'm sorry to say that this BSB fan was VERY disappointed in the performance last night. First off their clothes. Nick looked like a grub, and AJ looked like a girl in that shirt. Brian was the only normal looking one. Secondly, what was with their dancers clothes? The girls look like hookers, sorry to say. They should wear more clothes next time, and the guys should look at their wardrobe too. I think it was the worst one that I have ever seen from them. All I have to say is that their concert better be WAY better, as I paid $70 Canadian for it, and am going to Tacoma. This is my opinion, so attack me if you wish.

Last night I sat in front of my TV in awe. The Backstreet Boys performance rocked. I absolutely enjoyed the whole performance. The only things I had problems with was 2 of their appearances. Sorry girls, but AJs shirt could have been longer. My friend and I decided he wore that shirt to show off his "69" tattoo, but he should have just worn a completely see-thru shirt. And Nick, needed some cleaning up. He looked like a scrub. When they arrived, they all looked great, and by the time they accepted their award, Nick looked horrible. Im mainly talking about his hair folks, nothing else. Kevin, oh my god, he looked so hot in those tight leather pants. Brian was adoreable as always, and Howie was stylin. Congratulations to them on their award, and keep up the good work guys. CRACKERS WITH ATTITUDES ALWAYS!!!!!!

Of course, every BSB fan watched the MTV Music Video Awards. I thought their performance this year was nothing compared to last year. I liked the idea of switching songs. Howie kinda looks weird with those corn rows. But it was okay. Kevin looked good. AJ was looking fine as usual. I just thought his shirt should be a little bit longer. It looked like he was wearing a shrug. Brian was looking the best! He was so cute. Their dance moves were okay. But the best part was when they weren't singing but just dancing. I'm going to have a hard time dancing that one! I know everyone noticed those girls jumping on the guys? Who was that guy that got onstage when BSB was going to accept their awards?? I loved what they wore when they got up there. But all together, BSB was sportin' it this year.....Crackers with Attitude!!!

My daughter and I just finished watching the MTV Video Music Awards. Let me say congratulations to the Backstreet Boys for their Viewer's Choice Award! Their performance tonight was beyond fantastic. IWITW is one of my favorite songs, but I could not wait to actually hear them sing Larger Than Life finally! The choreography was awesome!!! Their outfits were awesome, their performance was awesome! They really outdid themselves with this song. All of the guys looked great too! I don't think anyone will be complaining about anything. Nick was looking better than ever. I've always liked AJ's hair the way he wore it tonight. As my daughter said, this is the reason why we KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!!
