The Video Music Awards. The last one of the century. It turned out like many other events - getting people OVERhyped and the show doesn't turn out to meet the expectations. First off, even though the two years before, Chris Rock well...rocked, this year, his dissing jokes (for everyone but lauren hill) was just a dragging rock that pulled him down. Though I gotta admit, I was loving him when he introduced Britney and *N Sync as "get ready for some serious lip-syncing!" and afterwards, "Why did they even need the mics on?" The first part with the choir singing Bawitdabaw was creative and original, and the Kid Rock performane with Aerosmith. I'm a Kid Rock fan and I love Aerosmith, so it was great. The problem? A much too great act for other acts to follow. FatBoy Slim's act was...well, one of a kind. *N Sync and Britney, ok, hate to say it, but you can't get anymore 'bubble gum popping' than that. They were trying the tradional, teen pop star's way of, 'getting out of being just a teen idol', only it bombed. They were way too fake and made-up, with so much lipsyncing, it only proved to those who had always believed in fake, pathetic teen pop groups (such as *N Sync, no offense to any fans, my opinions only), that they were right. They tried too hard. However, Backstreet kicked butt. they pulled their many-time-used song-to-song trick. I loved the black leather...though to AJ...the shirt was a bit...uh, didn't Miss Missouri wear that on Miss Teen USA only in a different color? The dancing was totally righteous, Fatima took that into a whole new level. If Larger Than Life have any of those moves in it, if it doesn't win 'Best Dance Video' next year, I'll sue MTV. Sure, Nick's going through a hairdo-switchoo time period, but let him, soon he'll get to the perfect style for him, besides I thought it was nice that it wasn't so...made up. It was so sweet to see that he took his dad (who I thought had a much better hair-do) with him, and finally, knowing that he CAN talk on stage when accepting awards! The whole "I never get to talk..." was way cute. What I was so proud of was - A] they didn't lipsync and sang themselves while dancing their cute butts off. B] They took home Viewer's Choice. C] They were just a shout-out that they AREN'T a pop boy band, but a rea l talented musical group that deserves respect. and D] They all looked so darn cute. My only real disappointment? that when other celebrities were being asked who they were looking forward to see, none of them mentioned Backstreet Boys (well, except for Sugar Ray, who pretty much mentioned everybody.)

hey everybody. heres what i gotta say about that damn bsb performance. well i was expecting the ususal sassy pretty boy look, but i hafta admit, when they walked on in friggin black leather, i was pretty surprised. when they began, IWITW, Nick was a little off key with his voice, but i understand he was sick earlier, so i give it to him. i mean, it takes courage to get up there and sing when your sick. i was VERY proud of him for that. then for LTL, i must admit, Nick perked up a hella lot, and for being sick, he did those moves pretty damn well. the god awful shirt AJ was weraing, relly got to me though. but i understand aj is the adventurous type, so i give him snaps for trying out a new "trend". kev, and bri looked good, i say. howies hair, man it was cool. i really liked that. i do agree that there were too many dancers on stage so it was hard to find the boys. but the performance overall, i thought was excellent, a big step for them. nick looked so totally hot and tough and i loved his greasy long hair. looks like he is over that pretty boy look, but i dont mind. now for viewers choice, they totally deserved that!!! if you look, right after they announce they won, nick is asleep in his chair while the rest of bsb is standing up. obviosly he woke up in time to go get the award!! thank heavens!!! remember he was sick, so he was probably real tired. i hafta admit, the backstreet boys looked real smooth when they got that award!!! i espeacilly loved nicks lil saying about how he never talks!!! well bsb was one of those dynamic awesome acts, unlike the gAY SCHOOL CONCEPT OF BRITNEY SPEARS AND n'sucks performances. now if ypu wanna see an example of an awful performance, and good lip-synchers, look no farther than NSUCK!!!! i mean, c'mon, JC whts with the hand move?? well i thought the VMA's were quite sucessful!!!! KTBSPA, everybody. for those of you who did not like the performance by bsb, i respect your opinion. i just cant understand the hell why.....

Hi, I would like to submit my review of the Backstreet Boys Performance during the VMAs. First of all, I would like to say that the Boys sounded great. Their voices sounded great and they danced like crazy! I didn't really LOVE the dancers outfits but they really added character to the show. I really liked Kevin's outfit and I thought Brian was the most normal one. I didn't really like AJ's shirt all that much, it made him look kinda girlish but that is my opinion. I liked Nick's hair but I preferred it when he had the pretty boy look. He looked so hot then! I am hoping he will get a haircut before the tour so I can enjoy staring at him during the concert. I thought Howie didn't look bad at all. Like Brian, he looked pretty normal. I loved it when Chris Rock made the crack about one of the BSB getting Britney pregnant. I cracked up at Brian's face. When Chris Rock was saying "Why The Hell Would You Want To Be A Backstreet Boy," the camera zoomed in on Nsync's faces and it showed them cracking up. I thought that was kinda immature. The BSB showed a lot of maturity clapping for everyone. They were great sports for the winners even if they didn't win for that certain category. When the Backstreet Boys accepted the awards, I was kinda sorry for Nick who didn't get to say very much. Anyway, I loved their performace and they were really good. Can someone e-mail me and tell me why Nick didn't have a date? Thanks and KTBSPA!

Caitlin, please put this on your site, because I'd really like to be heard. My website is http://ajmclean.findhere.com

Okay, I have read every single review about the MVA's, about peoples bashing it and loving it. Some of you are so disappointed because their performance was 'less that perfect.' WELL WAKE UP! Of course it's not going to be perfect! Nothing ever is. Although I do agree with you about the stage being cluttered with the dancers was a little overboard, but I still loved it. The whole thing sent shivers down my spine, it was so awesome. Kevin, Howie and Brian looked so hot like usual, even though Brian was a bit shaky at the beginning, but I don't think he was feeling well at all. Did you see him almost pass outin the middle of Larger That Life? That was scary. Now, the most talked about was probably A.J. and Nick. As you've already probably figured out, A.J. is my fave. I love his voice, his dancing, and his unique sense of style. So of course A.J.'s going to experiment with fashion. I'm not saying it was a great choice to wear that crop-top and pilot glasses, but hey, we've ALL had our fashion victim moments. Now Nick. Nick, Nick, Nick ... I was incredibly impressed. That is probably the best I've seen him. Ya, maybe he did look like he was in a desperate need of a shower ... I still thought he did a great job of singing and dancing, even though he was ill the past week, and was still getting over it. Give the poor guy a break ... change is good, especially if you're labeled 'the good, innocent one.' I was in the Ottawa airport about 5 minutes before Nick left after seeing Aaron. A salesperson from a giftshop told me that 'The little blonde Backstreet Boy' had been there. Must I mention, that he's not only 19 years old, but he's also 6'3, the tallest BSB? Geez! So, after that, he must be sick of being labeled that. I would be, so he's tried something different. Don't criticize him for that. Nick may not have necessarily liked it, but I respect him for taking that chance. Overall, the performance was wonderful. Defiantly the best performance at the 1999 MVA’s. This is all my opinion, and I'm sorry that it was so long. I just wanted to say it, and let it out.
Thank-you.

Hi! My name is Mandi, and I would just like to say, that the Backstreet Boys were AWSOME at the MTV awards!!!! I have loved the song Larger Then Life since I heard, and seeing them perform it live like that, was amazing! They all looked totally awsome (even AJ with his little shirt there) but I have to say, Nick definatly looked the best! It was so cute when he was doing his little punk-rocker thing. I have to admit, it was quite strange though to see the Backstreet Boys shed their clean cut image, and do that song. It was over all great, though!!!!1

Hey All. Just a few thoughts I'd like to share about BSB's performance at this year's VMA's. After reading many of your negative reviews I just couldn't resist putting in my two cents. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here's mine. First of all, THEY KICKED MAJOR BOOTEY!!!!! I mean completely kick ass!!! It proves that they are men and not boys anymore. It simply blew me away. It's amazing how they delivered a spectacular performance with just one day of rehearsal. They actually sang and didn't lip-synch, unlike some people who shall remain nameless. I liked the transition from IWITW to LTL. They just brought the house down and got the crowd pumped. Something the show needed. I do enjoy Chris Rock's humor, but he really ripped on everything in sight and it came to the point where it was plain damn rude. No matter how painfully true his comments were, he might just have the crap kicked out of him someday by a ticked off celebrity. It was completely overdone, at first I enjoyed it and laughed, even the BSB cracks(I had visuals about a BSB member and Britney, OMG, not pretty at all),but then it got old. Especially his obsession all night with Jennifer Lopez's butt, it was odd how they never showed her reaction as Chris made the comments, I would've liked to see that. To tell you the truth it's just proportionate. The "black" jokes as well was overkill. I thought we lived in an open-minded society where we weren't hooked on race and color. Chris became repetitive and annoying as the evening went on. OOPS, got off tangent, sorry!!!!! Well back to BSB. It was refreshing to see them experiment and take a fashion risk. I do like black leather btw. It's not like they would wear this walking around in public. Anyone heard of the word costumes??? The dancers looked good as well, it fit the song and the mood of the evening. With MTV you need to be edgy. I mean who wants to see the same thing every time anyhow?. Bottom line, CHANGE IS GOOD!!!! It's fun how BSB are unpredictable. The dancing was incredible, GO FATIMA (Susan Lucci of VMAS 0 for 4)!! How duz gay "Whiteboy Retarded", sorry Fatboy Slim, win best choreography anyhow over BSB?, MY GOD!!! (Little breathe of Chris Rock there). Someone is smoking the reefer apparently. I wish I could groove like that, my sister can!! She already memorized the VMA routine in just one weekend. Especially the "robotic" moves. I don't know how they can move like that and sing at the same time without missing a beat. Their voices were great. Nick's is definitely deepening. I do agree Nick is in desperate need of a haircut and/or shower to say the least. I'd like to take a pair of scissors to his head as well and his samurai get-up, that's what happens when you let him dress himself. AJ shirt was funky and only he could carry it off, it could've been longer though. He stall looked good. Brian looked very hot with the lighter hair and healthy tan. It suits him well. Kev's my fave and he looked incredible, but the sequin flowered sleeveless top didn't sit right with me. At least it showed his buff muscles. Howie's new do is pretty cool, something different. Sometimes, when you're a celebrity fashion sense goes out the window. It's a competition for who can be the most outrageous. I think this is BSB's way of escaping the "boyband" label and bubblegum pop. They are constantly evolving with the times and keeping it fresh. That's what make them so successful and separates them from the rest. I do like them having someone special in their lives and being open about it, everyone deserves that. It makes them more human. Do you really think handsome, sweet, talented, smart, famous and rich guys like them would be single forever. It would be so sad and worry me if Kevin didn't settle down sometime soon. I mean the guy is almost 28 for Christ sake. Most men his age are married and have 2 kids by now. The performance displayed their incredible raw talent and versatility. I am proud to keep the BSB pride alive even as an older BSB fan at 20 yrs old. It's a connection I share with my younger 14 yr. old sis Bev. We really don't have anything else in common, she actually got me into them after I saw Backstreet's Back (Everybody) video. It's so funny because at first a couple years ago I couldn't stand them, now I can't get enough and love them to death. A real die hard fan. You can tell Serena Altschul is really into them as well. Her face light up when she interviews them and always gives them props. I don't know how anyone could be disappointed or ashamed about the VMA performance, unless you have tunnel vision and like repetition. But oh well to each his own!!! Sorry I know this was kinda long, but now I have said my peace!! Peace Out!!!! Roxanne.

My name is Ashley and I have to say that the Backstreet Boys performance was definatly not my favorite. Don't get me wrong I love them but they are trying to be something they are not!! The reason they are so popular was b/c they had that good guy look , smooth sounding, and all around nice guy vibe. Now since they joined The Firm they are slowly turning into this Korn wannabe group. I mean Nick looked like he hadn't showered in weeks, Aj looked like nasty! Howie..well he just looked like Howie and Kevin..don't get me started!!! Brian was the only one that looked decent! and the only reason BSB fans are putting down Nsync, Britney Spears and TLC is because they don't have the guts to admit they did better then BSB!!! NSync did not lip-synch...get over it! Britney Spears might have I'm not sure and TLC definatly didn't!!!!BSB has been performing "LArger Than Life" all throught the tour w/ the dancers so they had more then 1 day to learn it. I am also willing to admit that NSync did a better job because they were just being themselves!!! And also by saying all this mean stuff about the other band to make BSB look good just gives BSB fans a bad name. Don't send me hate mail cause I don't wanna hear it.

Okay, first of all I have to say, I am an older fan - I'm 26 and I think with age comes understanding. I have read several reviews written by younger fans and have to admit that I'm pretty mortified by the harshness of those reviews. Man, if these people are the BSB fans, I'd hate to see their enemies.

Anyway, with that out of the way, on to the performance. Sadly, I was not as impressed with this year's performance at the VMA's as I was in 1998. I really did like the opening of I Want It That Way and would like to point out that Nick cannot be expected to keep his voice high pitched forever. It's called puberty people - look it up. I thought the dancing was pretty awesome for Larger Than Life and their outfits were very cool. Yes, I'll admit, I was a little shocked (okay that's an understatement) when they ripped off those trench coats to reveal black leather, but after I rolled my tongue back up off the floor, I was impressed to see them wearing something other than button down shirts. I think maybe the guys should have worn another color so they would have been easier to spot amidst all those dancers but that is not to say I didn't enjoy the dancers. I thought they looked fabulous and they're outfits were very hot. I've seen girls walking to school wearing less clothes than those dancers had on.

More importantly, I thought their singing was okay. It wasn't a stellar performance but then again, it wasn't so bad that I changed the channel either. Anybody who's been to concerts knows that live music almost never sounds the same as the CD - that's just life. It's part of the thrill of seeing somebody live. So, while I didn't exactly go ga-ga over this performance, I am not about to stop listening to their music over it. And I am certainly not ashamed to let people know that I listen to BSB.

I have read other reviews where fans are upset at how the guys looked and what the dancers were wearing, and I just don't get it. All I can say is you people need to grow up - and FAST. Fortunately for us true music lovers, you're ability to sing is not directly related to what you're wearing or how your hair looks. Otherwise, there would be no Otis Redding, Madonna or Busta Rhymes.

I realize my opinion is probably going to raise quite a few eyebrows and I accept that. Lucky for me, I am old enough to stand firm in my beliefs without fear of retribution. Hopefully, some of these so called "fans" will one day achieve that level of maturity also.

Hi, you all BSB FANS!!!!!! :) Ok well, I loved it! :) Thier performance was AWESOME! Thier styles was incredible! :) Howie looked hot and cute in those braids!, Kev looked HOT in those tight leather pants, Nick looked GREAT! Brian looked adorable as usual. And AJ, well...you all know him. He'll wear something that no one would be caught dead wearing. So, ,that's what he did. Chris Rock was funny. (Especially the comments on N Sync!) :) And as you all can tell: They were laughing at Chris Rock's jokes on them. They didn't take it seriously like N Sync. (Ha ha....Lip N Syncing...that was FUNNY!!! :) For some of you fans, are embarrassed by thier performance, and are ashamed to be their fan....THEN YOU'RE NO FAN AT ALL. Imagine if it was them reading your comments. How do you think that would make them feel? To me, being a true fan...means SUPPORTING THEM NO MATTER WHAT. Usually, I don't make reviews like this, but since all the negative responses are coming out I would like to voice my positive opinion on this subject. I'm an adult fan of the Backstreet Boys. And I'm not ashamed. I love them. And I always will. I'm also very happy that they won viewers choice awards. Thier performance was incredably awesome! :) So please, if you consider yourself a TRUE BSB FAN, then don't be trashing them just because of one performance. (that happended to KICK MAJOR BUTT!) Thank you and goodnight! REMEMBER TO ALWAYS KTBPA!!!! :) *Please put this on your page, thanks! :)

I'm an over 21 fan of BSB and still shaking my head at these reviews. I don't know what you guys wanted them to do. The fact that they were able to sing both the song up for the awards and LTL was great. IWITW is a slow song, beautiful, but let's face it, no excitement! And fans are complaining that they "only" won for Viewer's Choice. Wasn't it the "video" awards? Let's face it, the IWITW video was nowhere near as good as the last one. But it's a different tempo so it was very low-key. With LTL it should be wild. I can't wait to see it. Wait til you see the concert. I was fortunate to catch it in Munich while vacationing (I live in Canada) but was unable to grab tickets for Tacoma near my home. The guys have at least 8 costume changes and at one point come out in leather. Are you guys gonna whine when they come out flying in their "space" outfits, or when they flip thru the air during one number (wearing leather), or say "how gross" when Nick pole dances!

Come on, loosen up! BSB have come a long way since 1993. They are 5 very talented guys who just happen to be good-looking, who love music and can REALLY sing and write, too. They are trying to please their fans, and themselves at the same time. How many "groups" can say that they have fans of ALL ages, boys, girls, men and women who love to listen to their music. Give BSB a break and let them be themselves. I think they would want you to say that you love their music FIRST and their looks are secondary. They don't want to be mere "pretty boys". Music is their life! Too many of you are so hung up on what they wore, how they looked, etc. That's not what they are about! SO JUST CHILL OUT AND ENJOY THEIR AWESOME TALENT!!

And enjoy the concert if you were lucky enough to snag tickets - it's absolutely incredible! If you leave disappointed - then you're really not a BSB fan!!!

Okay Bsb Fans....First of all if u were really a dedicated and loyal fan u shouldn't of made those comments about the boys. We like the boys for the boys not for the way they dress its what inside that counts. I mean if the way they dressed was that bad then how come they were the fifth best dressed that night according the mtv's house of style. i mean Nsync didn't even made it to the top ten. Everyone has their own sense of style. i would not call my self a fan if i dissed the boys just because of the way they dressed.

Okay, I may be a bit late with this one, but I've been reading various reviews all over the 'Net, and I've just got to throw my measly two cents in, so here I go........

Finally, it's 9.9.99. After all the commercials, reminders, and pre-award shows, it was finally time. My little sister had been bouncing off the wall all day, so at 6:30, we settled down to watch the night's events.

The pre-awards show was fun, especially when we sang along with Blink 182 and Smashmouth at the top of our lungs and when one of the MTV guys suggested Will Smith call his new album "Willinnium." That would be kind of cool, wouldn't it.

Our jaws dropped when the Boys showed up. Little Sister flew into a frenzy over Brian's very stylin' outfit and I just arched an eyebrow at Kevin and Howie's sequined shirts. Pamela Anderson Lee's hat has got to go, though.

The actual awards show started off great, with those opera singers singing "Bawitaba" (I know I spelled it wrong, sorry). One of those guys was really getting into it! Anyhoo, Chris Rock's monologue was hilarious, especially when he made that crack about getting Britney Spears pregnant (shudder) and Brian flashed that face at the camera.

Down to the nitty gritty. The performance was awesome. When they were singing IWITW, the two of us were like, "Oh man, don't just stand there!" But when they launched into LTL, I, Miss Calm Cool Collected, screamed at the black leather. WOW!! And I must admit, Nick is looking better and better. Hubba hubba! They sounded great, looked great, and got the place jumping. Great job! I loved the note of surprise in Chris Rock's voice after that one. Crackers With Attitude....hee hee.

While the Boys only took one award, it was certainly the most important and telling of them all, the Viewer's Choice. Did you hear the fan reaction? I'm glad they all got a crack at the microphone (when Brian was talking, did you see Kevin trying to get some screen time behind him?) and I loved Nick's little tag on the end. We love you guys!

All in all, it was great fun. The Backstreet Boys proved once again that they are a true force to be reckoned with.

KTBSPA!!

I myself thought the performance at the awards was awesome. But honestly, thats not really what im writing about, we all have our opinions bout the awards, yes, but their are just a few things that ticked me off. First of all, whoever said that them doing a not so great performance made us look bad should be ashamed of themselves!!! True fans stick by them and don't care what others say, I mean how rediculous and childish is that. People have their off days, I mean cmon people, they work hard all the time to put on great shows for us, make wonderful music that we all sit and enjoy, theyre entitled to have their off days. Are any of us touring constantly, in the studios constantly, have a #1 record, making sure our fans are happy?!?!? NO! They are very hard working and talented, and they surely cant be expected to keep everyone happy all of the time, and anyway, who are we really to judge what theyre wearing, its not supposed to be about the clothes etc, its all about the music baby, the music. Give the boys a break already, they work hard all the time keeping us happy, making music we love to hear, give them that much. If you are really a fan you will stick by them no matter what and forget all this "im embarassed to be a fan" crap. Because thats what it is, crap. No matter what happens, if aj or howie look a tad fruity, or nick looks sick, which btw, maybe he was sick, just b/c hes nick doesnt mean he doesnt get sick, hes human like the rest of us, but no matter what, i am a fan, and im proud to say that i am, and will always stick up for my boys! And so called "fans" really need to rethink wether or not they can truely call themselves that.

Anyone who watches TRL on a regular basis is quite familiar with the VMA Awards. The event was more hyped than Woodstock for goodness sakes! Everyday, it seemed, Carson, Kurt, and the gang would announce which new acts were joining the list of performers. The Backstreet Boys were practically there from day one and I couldn't wait to see the awards. I haven't been a fan that long...I bought "Millennium" for my mother, but it didn't take a couple of days for me to fall "in love" with the group. I now proudly own two of their CDs :0) Anyway, the night of the VMAs, the much-heralded 9/9/99, I was stuck at work, staring at a computer screen until 11 p.m. Luckily, I had remembered to set my VCR and I rushed home to check out the performances and the winners. For the most part, I was disappointed in the awards. The scripting for the presenters was off the lame-o-meter, the majority of Chris Rock's jokes were racist and low class (though I LOVED the expression on the guys' faces after he made the "pregnant Britney" remark), and the sound was horrible. I was already cranky by the time I finally found the performance that I was waiting for. On first impression, I was like, "They're off-key...I hate the leather...Nick needs to wash his hair!" However, the next morning, with a fresh new outlook, I viewed them again. The performance was excellent. I thought that it said alot when you could hear everyone singing along with "I Want it That Way." I could still do without the leather...it was such a drastic change. LOL. Maybe it would have been better if they had been a little more gradual with it, but I can learn to live with it. As for Nick's hair, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I personally dig the old look--clean blonde, but he didn't look bad. The dance routine left me flabbergasted (I now have a new aerobic routine to learn ). As for the off-key sound, well, a lot of performers had that problem (except for the screamers and the rappers). In a building with the acoustics that the MET has, it is hard for singers to "hear" themselves, which makes it extremely difficult to stay on-key, but at least the BSB actually sang, unlike other pop performers (we won't mention any names). I thought the boys looked very nice with their dates (those lucky girls)! Their acceptance speech was beautiful. It ranked right up there with Will Smith's comment on video violence and profanity. They thanked God, their families, their fans, and MTV, just the way it should be. They may not have "cleaned up" at the awards, but they won the most important award there...the one we voted on. I am anxiously awaiting the concert now!

I just wanted to say two things:one, I thought the boys' performance was awesome on the VMAs, except for Nick's hair. Second, I would like to comment I Chris Rock. I thought that he was a bad choice for host of the last VMA of the century. He insulted many artists. I thought that the thing about the BSB "ooh, they're tough, they're on the Backstreets" was funnny, but he went a little too far with the "which one's gonna get Britney Spears pregnant" joke. He also insulted Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez throughout the show. Others he insulted: Britney Spears, NSync, Beastie Boys, Lil' Kim, and many, many more. I thought that MTV could have hired someone else who could have been funny but not insulted practically all the guests there. Thank you for reading this. Emilie i_luv_backstreetboys@yahoo.com

Does it really matter what the Boys wore at the VMA's? Should we love them less or critize them cuz they may not look as "Hot" as they usually do?

I Personally don't care what they wore or how they looked. I was just glad to see them and that they won the most important award of that night. To me "No one comes close" and their performance was spectacular.

To all the people who complained about their performance who are you to complain? Do you even know the first thing about choreography? Do you even know how much hard work goes into a performance like that? On top of that considering that the Boys had only 1 day to prepare I thought they did a damn fantastic job!

Backstreet Boys are all about growth and change, its either you are moving into the Millenium with them or you are not. In the end TALENT is what is MOST important, and that's what will keep our Boys at #1 for a long time to come.

hey ya'll. well, i just got done reading all the vma reviews and i felt the need to write one of my own. i missed the awards on thursday because i had to work so when the re-run came on Saturday, i threw a tape in the vcr and watched the whole thing. in all honesty, i have to say that the guys' performance was quite different from any i've ever seen by them. at first, i didn't like it, but after watching a few more times, i think that it shows that they've grown up. so what if nick was going for the "Kurt Cobain" look? though truthfully, i love his blonde locks (what nick fan doesn't?) but if it's a different style he wants let him wear it. i just think it could have been a few inches shorter. and aj's shirt, what can i say there? the man likes to be different. you know it, i know it, everybody knows it. besides, how do we know that they picked out the outfits? they do have a stylist. brian, kevin, and howie looked pretty good. the dancer's wardrobe looked fine compared to what ricky martin's dancer's wore. and at least bsb didn't lip-synch like bratney and *n stink, and bsb even had more choreography then either of them. personally, i'm glad that bsb performed the way they did and i can't wait to see how they perform at the lexington show in november.

I definitely have to say that the MTV performance rocked.  It was Aj, Kevin, Nick, Howie, and Brian we were watching, not the Backstreet Boys.  Finally, with Millenium they showed us (the fans) who they are and with this performance they proved what they were, musicians having a great time.  The MTV performance just rocked.  They proved that they werent just a boy band, they are a. R&B/pop act.  Actually I dont consider them to be a boyband, the only reason they are called this is because of their name.  They've proven where they stand in the music industry.  I dont care what they wore, how thery sounded, this was a LIVE performance, and a hell of a good one.  Backstreet Boys are here to stay.  And the N'Sync/ Britney Spears performance or whatever you would like to call it, did not live up to my expectations.  I dont like them at all and it still didnt live up to my expectations.  They could have been a littloe more mature, like over the age of five.  I dont want to start rumors, but my friend recorded the p erformance and she thinks Kevin's date is one of the dancers.  Maybe...  KTBSPA!!!!!!!! -Jen   Dopey_XIII@hotmail.com

After reading all of the VMA reviews, I deduced that from what most bsb fans wrote, Nick's hair was too long, A.J's shirt was too short, Howie's braids were too funky, Brian needed a haircut, and Kevin, well, let's not get into that. What I'm saying is, that's the stuff I REMEMBER. Sure, there were a few comments on how the choreography was wonderful, how the boys' IWITW and LTL were beyond beautiful, but as a fan who wasn't able to watch the VMA's (no cable :( ), I was simply appalled at how so many fans could only write about BSB's looks. If you are truly a Backstreet Boys fan, you would look further than their appearances, and remember that THE MUSIC is what its all about. Why not try to see the VMA's from their point of view. I agree with those who say that BSB are in the process of reinventing themselves. Every artist does it. But do you think Nick WANTED the fans to rank on his new hairstyle? Probably not. I've been a BSB fan for a few years now, and from what I've seen and heard, they really do try their best to make their fans happy. Basically, when the fans aren't happy, they're not happy. And they can't always be PERFECT. Now don't get me wrong. It sure helps that Nick, Kevin, Howie, Brian, and A.J are not only a talented vocal harmony group, but they are beautiful as well. That's why they have to work twice as hard to "prove" that they are truly gifted singers, not just some "teeny-bopper oriented boy band." But in my opinion, they don't have to work so hard. Many fans accept BSB for who they are, not just what they look like. Not to leave anyone bursting with anger at me, I do give props for those of you who wrote reviews, whether you talked about the performance, or the scoop on Kevin's biceps. Thank YOU for bring the VMA's to me. And as BSB's band member Tommy Smith puts up on the band website, ITS ALL ABOUT LOVE. =0)

Greetings fellow BSB fans! Here's an open message about my opinions about the overall VMA show.

First of all - congrats to our boys for getting the viewers choice award!! It was almost 12am here by the time they finally won an award and I ran around my house screaming and yelling and i woke everyone up 'cause I was so excited! They really deserved that award, I hope they appreciate that a lot of their fans (me included) voted countless times daily for them! Although I really though they would get 'video of the year'.. oh well. LAWRENCE (lol.. Paul must of felt like such a dork!) Hill is great and everything but she's no BSB!

As for the performance.. I think it wasn't their BEST of the best shows by them.. I must say it was really original and interesting performance. Although I personally have issues with the leather wearing theme (although that's because i am an animal activist), I actually liked the 'different' looks of the guys. I must admit AJ surprised me with that crop top though! (but hey - that's AJ!) My mom even commented on it.. "Who is that with half a shirt? Britney Spears?" *lol* Too funny. I think Brian's outfit when they won the award was really cute.. it reminded me of this outfit in 'I'll Never Break Your Heart'.. the light tan. Nick's hair was kinda different.. did he remind anyone else of the wrestler - the Undertaker? But it was nice to see him get away from that 'bowl' look that he's been sporting for so many years (oh nick...).. I love Howie's cornrows and his overall outfits for the evening. I thought the sleeveless shirt was a really nice look for Kevin! but he should stick to his suits No one wears a suit like Kev! I liked their outfits during the performance too.. the only ones that were kinda weird were Nick's and AJ's.. but I guess it really doesn't surprise me that AJ would wear something like that!! Um.. what else? Oh! Did anyone else think Nick's voice sounded a LOT deeper than usual on IWITW? It was really weird.. I've heard him sing it a few times and he's never sounded like that. I wonder if his voice got deeper in a few weeks or if he was trying to make it deeper. Did anyone else notice that? I thought it sounded good.. but I just noticed it was different. But overall.. I think the guy's performance was amazing and I think they blew the crowd away! Good job boys!

One thing I found "off" about the guy's performance was the dancers. Is it just me, or are they distracting? I think they are all really talented and are awesome.. but having to frantically scan around the screen to find one of the Boys' in the big crowd is a hard task! The guys themselves are great dancers and really don't need all that fancy background stuff to spice up the show. I personally would be thrilled to just see them sit on stools and sing. (?) But they obviously think the dancers help their performance so hopefully i'll get used to them eventually.

As for the Chris Rock issue. I think Chris is a funny guy to an extent. I admit I laugh at some of his jokes, and he knows how to push people's buttons when it comes to what I like to call 'critic-comedy'. As for the VMA's, he did exactly what he was hired to do and I'm sure there weren't any hurt feelings at the end of the night. Especially BSB - these guys can take a joke (remember the Ben Stiller thing last year?) and I'm sure they were light hearted about the whole BSB-bashing portion of the show. As for the overall show.. I found the whole thing to be well.. rude. Again, Chris was there to do his job.. but I think he went a little overboard. I must admit I find his racial based comedy a bit too hyped. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all - but there's a difference between making fun of Jennifer Lopez's butt and referring to Metallica's Lars Ulrich as 'a white guy who actually plays white music'. Music is music.. it has no color and I really took offence to his comments like that. Know what I mean? I usually let that kind of stuff slide but Chris Rock rubs me the wrong way with a lot of his comments. You can say I need to relax and not take it so seriously but I know what he's doing is offensive and I know quite a few people who agree with me.

Anyway, I think the Backstreet Boys were the best part of the evening. (Aside from the Nine Inch Nails performance! I've been waiting four years for that!!!) BSB were real.. they were original and best of all they were themselves and they weren't afraid to try something new! That's something I've always repsected them for I'm sure they sure changed a lot of critic's perspective with that 'edgier' image. Another highlight of the evening was definetly the Beastie Boys' thank yous.. they always have something repsectable and important to say and I'm glad they were given the chance to speak their mind.

To be honest the Britney Spears and Nsync performances didn't do much for me. The dancing for Nsync was good, but that was about it. I have nothing against them, I'm just not exactly into the pop/dance scene (although i'm a BSB fan.. explain that?) I won't even get into Britney Spears performance.. I just have one thing to say.. nice wig babe. I saw you interviewed earlier that day and your hair was brown. *shakes head*

As for BSB not winning the other awards.. there's always next year!!! Atleast they are finally being recognized in the states and are actually nominated! That's an honor within itself and a real treat to their Canadian and European fans and I'm sure to them as well!

Hi...my name is Kim, & I'm an avid BSB fan. I'm 19, & I shamelessly tell pple that I LOVE MY BOYS!! I just read these disappointing so-called fan reviews...I now, I just appreciate how mature & loyal fans can see that our Boys are changing...setting themselves apart from that teeny-bopper category...Sadly, there are pple out there who have the nerve to call themselves "fans" of the Boys when all they did was criticize on how they looked on the VMAs. Some of those peeps don't know that the Boys change w/ the times..as their music did. Right b4 "Millennium" came out, the Boys were like nervous on how us fans would react to their sound, though still the distinctive-BSB sound, it was a lil different. It totally had more of an adult-contemporary feel, & some of it, edgier than what their known 4...like say "Larger Than Life" & "Don't Want U Back"... This edgier sound explains the outfits..if some of u can't understand that...then just take your posters off the walls & get rid of your CDs now...THE BOYS ARE NOT GONNA STAY THE SAME 4EVER; get it in your head...

I dunno how many pple I've told that BSB are adult-contemporary..they totally fit into that genre of music. The MTV VJs & reporters even commented on BSB after the awards show..they were like Britney & NSync performed their old songs.."Baby One More Time" & "Tearin' Up My Heart"...& BSB were the only ones who came out there outta the "bubble-gum" artists...& "layed it down!" I love quoting other pple who'd normally pick on BSB...They tore the place down & I enjoyed every minute of it! Those losers who have the NERVE to even send in a negative comment need to check themselves...BSB fans LOVE BSB first & foremost b/c of their music--NOT their wardrobe!! And the fact that they're adult-contemporary says that they don't hafta stick to this so-called "clean-cut" image that's expected from teeny-bopper "bubble-gum" artists..it pisses me off that some of these "fans" write in saying that they're disappointed b/c they didn't find the Boys visually appealing. I thought they totally rocked, & a new look CANNOT hurt...artists & their music change w/ the times...as do the fans...excluding the ones who haven't heard of the saying "change is good!"

Well, sorry this has been so incredibly lengthy...hope I haven't sounded too preachy...but if this leaves any of u pissed, then it's only b/c u didn't see how disappointed I was upon reading such negative comments on BSB over this one performance. It was one of the best on the VMAs...there was so much hype leading up to it that it wasn't all that good when it actually happened...but BSB made me quite happy after seeing it. Fatima did a great job, despite all those awful fans out there who think that she's gone nuts...her dancing will change w/ the times as well..u don't see anyone walking around nowadays doing the Macarena, do u? Well, I'm gonna call it quits here..hope some of u agree w/ me!!! Thanx 4 giving the time to read my words!!! KTBSPA 4ever!!!

Like many others....I was going to try to stay out of this debate about BSB's performance at the 99 VMAs but I just can't do it. I love Backstreet.net, it's one of my favorite pages on the net and I love how so many loyal BSB fans come there to talk about our boys. So it really upsets me, seeing all these negative reviews of their performance on the VMAs. I'm gonna' start with the most important thing...the performance. That is why we love them so much right? Not because of how the dress and how they wear their hair. It's because they're incredible singers and performers. Yes, I'll admit it Brian's voice was a little shaky in the beginning and Nick sounded a little different during IWITW. But that proves that they were actually singing. I absolutely loved the performance of Larger Than Life. It isn't your typical BSB song and the performance wasn't typical either. Everything about their performance was different and unique and just makes me count the minutes until next Sunday when I see them live. Now on to their outfits. Okay, I'll admit the outfits weren't exactly vintage Backstreet Boys. But that doesn't make them bad. They're trying new clothing styles and hair styles. That doesn't mean they're gonna' dress like that forever. They defintely were not the worse dressed people there (For example...Lil Kim). You can't expect them to dress exactly the same at every show. I think the guys looked great. And I like the fact that they tried something different. All in all, even though the performance wasn't perfect (and nobody should expect it to be) I think the guys did a great job. Especially considereing they only had ONE day to practice KTBSPA

I have to say that this years' VMA's did kinda suck. Chris Rock is kewl and all, but he had no right making fun of any group all night like he did 'NSYNC and BSB. (I'm a fan of both groups) Now, I keep reading about how this was the worst performance that BSB has done and I have to say that I totally disagree. The costumes rocked, the dancing rocked the music rocked and they all looked hott! I luv IWITW and I was so glad they sang it and I personally enjoyed them ripping off the coats. As for AJ's shirt, please, that is just AJ. There's nothing else to say with that one. He is just AJ one of these days ya'll are going to have to realize that. Nick's look was so kewl! He didn't have the little boy image that he normally does. (not that the little boy image is bad!) He looked just like he does in the LTL video. Kevin even looked good and I don't really like him. Howie D's hair was awesome. I think that is the best hair style for him yet. Brian, as normal, looked like a normal human being and I thought he was so sweet when he and Leighanne kissed when they won. I thought it was so cute. The dancers we could have done without cuz I had a tough time following the guys, but I bet live in concert the dancers would be kewl. Them winning the Viewers Choice just clinches the fact that they are the people's group and no matter what Chris Rock or Jonathan Davies (Korn) says BSB is the best band around. Congrats guys and here's to more and more VMA's in the future along with a grammy or two! :-) Laura

Dear Backstreet.net readers,

Hi! I thought that since everybody was stating their opinions about the performance , I might as well put my two sense in. I thought the performance was AMAZING!! It didn't quite compare with last years Backstreet's Back perfomance , but then again what could compare to that? I thought the dancing was very slick and perfected given the fact that they had only put it together the day before!! Fatima Robinson , their choreographer , is a genious. I think that has to be said. Granted the singing wasn't as good as we're used to , but for all the dancing they did we should be grateful they sounded real and didn't lipsync like SOME people. We're spoiled silly by the Backstreet Boys 'cos they always sound perfect and we shouldn't hate them for not sounding perfect once in their career. A lot of fans are critisizing the band for their wardrobe , but I really don't get what the big deal is. I thought they looked as great as they always do. I mean just because they went a different way this time doesn't make them any less the well-mannered boys we know. And AJs' shirt was a bit too short , but he does have the body to pull it off and I agree that he wore it to show off his great 69 tattoo. Well I guess that's it. I just wanna say one more thing. Don't fundamentaly disregard everything you've ever felt for the boys just because you didn't like this one performance. Loving the BSB is like being in a relationship , you don't doubt first , you trust first!!

Peace , Love and Good Vibrations!!

KTBPA!!!

since everybody who's everybody is writing their opinion on the VMA's, i thought i'd share mine. so, here i go... Chris Rock - man i don't like that guy. he tries to be funny but to put it simply, he isn't. but i luved how he said "i wanna see who'll be the bad backstreet boy to get britney spears pregnant!", howie and brian's expression's were priceless! i think i was expecting to much from bsb's performance so when they came out singin IWITW, i'll admit it, i was dissapointed. they weren't singing their best but i don't care. they gave it their all and that's what's important. AJ - k, the shirt just scared me! but u gotta luv AJ... Nick - nick's my fave so no matter what he wears, i luv it. i thought his outfit was totally cool, a good change. i kinda liked the long messy hair look. but ya, it could've been a lil' bit cleaner. Kev - he looked good, that's all i gotta say Brian - i think we all luved Brian that night Howie - Howie Howie, i don't really like him but he was alright, 'ecpt for his hair!

i felt so sorry for nick when they accepted their award, let the guy talk! kev almost hit him with the award too...

Ok, I think that the Backstreet Boys Performance was awesome on thursday. Yeah, their outfits weren't the most flattering thing, but if you were a REAL fan, that wouldn't matter. I thought that it was awesome how they started with IWITW and went into larger than life, that was so cool, even though they skipped a verse in Larger than Life. I was really upset to read all those reviews by "fans" I mean, their dancing and singing was awesome, especially Nick (hehe, he's my fave), And if you like them less now, well good for you, you're a snob. I mean, yeah, I think Nick needs a haircut, and AJ's shirt was kinda short, but those things didnt bother me, my opinion didn't change any about them. And all you Nick Bashing people, give him a break! He's doing his thing, and shouldn't have to worry about what other people think about him. Personally, I think that him and Brian were the best dressed when they walked in and when they accepted their award. I thought that the dancers were awesome, they didn't look like hookers, well, ok, maybe they did, but they were costumes, and i think that they looked awesome. Ok, now onto other parts of the awards show. Chris Rock's monologue at the beginning was wicked funny. I thought it was interesting how when he mentioned 98*, there were barely any cheers, than nsync, louder cheers (The spice boys thing was funny) and then he said Backstreet Boys, and there were the loudest cheers...I just wanted to point that out. And when he said the Britney Spears thing, the expression Brian made was hilarious! But, I think Chris should have said that crack for nsync, considering the ugly blond curly thing otherwise known as Justin is going out with Titney, but whatever, it was still funny. I can't believe that TLC won best group video over the boys, and that Ricky Martin won best pop video, personally, I can't stand that man. But anyway, I didn't really think that they would win best video because of the people that they were up against, but I think that it was awesome that they were nominated! And Viewers Choice, that was awesome. That was the most meaningful award to everyone and BSB won it! You go guys! I thought that Their acceptance speech was so cute. Brian's so funny, and Nick was so cute when he said he never got to talk. When they said who won, the hug that Howie gave Nick was so cute. Why wasn't Nick with a date? the other guys were, I hope that Nick and Mandy didn't break up, I felt bad for him, but anyway, TLC really annoyed me, they were mad that they didn't win Viewers Choice. They were in like last place, they thought they were gonna beat BSB, nsync, Ricky Martin and Korn? Ya, right! I thought that BSB was the best performance there, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan. They didn't lip synch, I few people who did come to mind, *cough* nsync, TLC, Titney Spears *cough* and Ricky's performance was weak, he does need another hit fast...Like Chris Rock said. Even though I'm not a big rock fan, I thought that Kid Rock's performance was good, and I liked Eminem's performance, i think he's cool. Well, you've heard me go on for long enough. But Let me just wrap up by saying that their performance was da bomb, and I can't wait to see the new video. The Boys have turned into men; they have gotten older, and all you teeny-boppers, get over it! I think that now they are better than ever, and I can't wait to go to their concert on September 21, 2nd row baby! Maybe Nick will serenade me...one can always hope :) If anyone is offended by what I said, I'm sorry, i was just expressing what I feel, Like all you so called fans. One more thing, I love what Chris Rock said about them, Crakers with Attitude, CWA forever, and KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!! I hope you could follow what I was trying to say, hehe, thanks!

I was so excited to see the Backstreet Boys' stellar performance on the VMA's on MTV. My roommates and I watched it and afterwards, talked about how it was the best performance on the entire show. Once again, they are exploring a new fashion in their clothing, which was racy, but I loved it!!!! And I think that they sounded awesome as they always do. And to think that they only learned the routine a day before the performance.

I am agreeing with many of the fans out there who will stick with them through anything, even the day that they may split. I can't comprehend the people that call themselves fans and can't see what a remarkable show that they put on. I saw them on tour last summer and am going again this year and know that my high expectations will be met because I know that they are dedicated to their fans and work their tails off to give the best performance ever in the history of performances!

They all looked wonderful on Thursday night and sounded wonderful. Thanks to everyone who voted with me also for the Viewer's Choice Award. They are so deserving of that award and so much more. And it was touching that they thanked God and their families. I would like to thank their families also for nurturing such wonderful guys!!

Backstreet Pride forever!

Ok A.J's top was a little short but it was what he wanted to wear ! nick did need a hair cut but big deal you cant just stop liking them because they didn't look perfect one night If you call your self a fan then you wouldn't care what they looked like all the time! In my opinoin they looked and sounded Great!! I really liked the dancing I thought it was great it was cool how they had alot of dancers it was really pumped up!! I also liked that they sang Live and sounded awsome! Well that's all I have too say really =)

Hey Caitlin!! Please please publish my opinion... I am so sick of reading how their performance sucked and that they dressed awful. I want them to understand things...   I absolutely loved their performance. It tells everyone that they are no longer the clean-cut-boy-next-door band like others. It also shows off that they can sing and dance at the same time, without voices warbling.   Nick didn't look scrummy nor does he smell. His hair was very much fine in the pre-show and I guess he applied some gel and water to it just before their performance just to look hardcore since Larger Than Life has a "rock and roll" sound to it. You can't blame the guy, he's growing and is probably sick of his blond-nice boy image. A lot of people (not BSB fans that's for sure) will see that they are trying to step away from the Boy Band image. We all know that they usually come in awards dressed to kill with designer suits and long coats, they don't wanna be branded as a Boy Band anymore so they're taking small steps one by one away from it.   To those "fans" who kept dissing the Boys' look and performance, please read these circumstances first before launching in another "Nick is awful, AJ looks so gay blah blah blah" tirade: 1. They just flew in from another country, so they're pretty tired and prolly had no sleep. 2. They only had to put up a routine a DAY before the awards show. 3. They have been dancing and singing almost everyday for the past 4 months and practically flying to every country after every show. 4. Howie said in the pre-show that it's their first time to do the steps on stage. 5. They worked hard to perfect that IWITW-LTL routine for just one day. Yes, I know you all know that they just arrived form another country, but did you guys ever think that because they had to practice for the show, they didn't had a time to sleep? What about the fact that of course they went shopping for their clothes? So number one pretty sums BSB up to 2 words: DEAD TIRED. Secondly, with those awesome moves they pulled off the stage and with no mistakes at that, who would think that routine was only put up a day before the awards night? That's enough for me to decide that they are indeed the greatest band worldwide. Next, if some of you have attended concerts, you will notice the next day that you lost your voice because of screaming and singing along with them right? But not Our Boys, they have been singing and dancing everyday for 4 freaking months and yet they didn't seem tired (which is far from I know) nor their voices seemed strained. This just strengthens the fact that they are indeed DEAD TIRED. I know Nick's voice sounded a bit unlike from the album but, hey... he c an have an off-day right? He's been sick for the past week so he's just recovering. Don't let one performance ruin Nick's impression to you... look at his live performance of I Need you tonight in Homecoming, he was great! Lastly, no one can pull of those moves without a number of practice, but this made them stand out much much more than the other performers since after all, they're tired and yet they managed to perfect those kick @$$ dance moves!   So please before you go and diss them another time, don't base your decision about their performance per se and their over all look, instead please consider the circumstances BSB really went through. With all these, it's clear that the things that weren't clearly saw by everyone overruled everything televised.   Everyone can make sure that I'll Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive FOREVER and I will tell all the wonderful memories BSB gave me to my grandchildrens, great grandchildrens and, hopefully, great great grandchildrens. This is my personal oath, you can adopt it too if you want: I SWEAR (from this day forth) that I will stick with MY BOYS whatever happens, through thick or thin, through sickness and in health, til death do we part.

PS Fatima really outdid herself again. Have you ever think of thanking her right after you saw BSB performed live? She's the one responsible for those "deadly" moves BSB does. So e-mail her and let her know that we all appreciate her hard work for the BSB... thank her at fanmail@gofatima.com     Aless, 17 Manila, Philippines

Have you ever seen a more amazing performance?????? Backstreets performance was THE high point of the MTV award show!!! A.J looked so sexy it was unbelievable and I can't understand why everyone is trashing it. I mean did you see the crowds reaction? They were going crazy and the age level was not 10 and under. When N'Sync appeared with Britney Spears the audience was just standing there and staring at them! If I were them I would have been so embarassed. Did anyone catch when Britney almost tripped? It was when she was walking backwards, towards the end of her "short" performance! How can "fans" dis the guys? Didn't anyone hear when Howie said " To all our fans around the world" and then said "this is for you" ? What other band totally thanked us? Only our Backstreet Boys! Also A.J did a very admirable thing, he acknowleged the other artists that they were against! What a total sweetie! Gorgeous AND humble! At least A.J HAS a gorgeous body to show off!! Never change guy! By the way WHO was A.J with? I thought he officially broke up with Amanda?? KTBSPA

hey all! my name is colette (aka angelface4ever19) and i just wanted to say to the other bsb fans that the reason why most didn't like the performance is cause the guys (in my opinion) didn't look the greatest, so, they say they didn't like the performance. i think the same way. i think they sounded great but they didn't look the best. please don't send me hate mail. this is just a opinion.  and i just want to say to all the ppl who liked the performance and are e-mailing ppl who didn't to leave them alone. its just an opinion. we, as fans, don't have to like everything they do. if we just went along and said we liked everything, even if it wasn't the greatest, we wouldn't be very good, honest fans. thanks for reading.

Hey everyone!

Now, me, like everyone else, has been noticing mixed thoughts of the Backstreet's Boys' performance Thursday night at the MTV Video Music Awards. I, too, had a few disappointments but, as time has gone by, I've realized that it was in fact, an incredible performance. I mean, compared to the Britney Spears/N'SYNC performance, BSB were wicked. I'm writing a list of good and bad things about BSB's performance on Thursday. You can disagree or agree but these are just my opions.

-Is it just me or did Nick sound, well, not exactly his best? I'm not sure if his voice has changed A LOT or if he was sick or if he accidently started on a wrong key and had to go along with it. This is at the beginning of "I Want It That Way". In "Larger Than Life," he sounds excellent.

-Does anyone really think that BSB look all that good in leather? I don't mind it occaisionally, but it seems like it's becoming their trade mark or something. What happened to Khakis and Jeans?

-THE DANCERS! Everyone's been saying that the girls have been a little underdressed. I, personally, don't think it's inappropriate. Not only is it just a costume, but, do you think that people would get the same effect if they were out there dressed in baggy sweatshirts and jeans? I don't think so.

-More on the dancers. I don't know why I didn't like them that much. At the 1998 Vid Awards, they looked awesome on stage with BSB. This year, it just looked crowded.

-AJ's shirt. First off, I thought it was stupid and ridiculous. But then I thought, you know, in this performance, they're going along with a futuristic approach like in the Larger Than Life video. And who knows, maybe in time, those shirts will be stylish. But I wouldn't wear it now. It's looks like something out of Menudo or something. :)

-Howie's hair. Most people who commented on his hair said it was nice but I have to say that I really don't like it. At all. I like it the regular way.

-Nick's hair looked really weird. It looked like he hadn't washed it in a week! I like the wet look on guys' hair but not Nick's! It just looks greasy. I really like the cut when it's clean and nicely trimmed and stuff. :)

Now that I've said all that bad stuff, here's my compliments to the guys on their performance!

-Nick! Wow! He looks great! (Except for the hair.) Has he been working out or something? I loved him when he was a bit pudgy (he was sooooo damn cute!!!) But now? I can't handle it!! That was like the first thing I noticed when he took off the leather coat. Even with that big vest thing he had on, you could tell that he's gotten into shape over the past few months. Did you look at his arms? They're wicked!

-Brian's hair! I love it blond! It's excellent!

-All of them look great.

-Their performance was one of the best!

-The next day at school, I heard so many people making good comments about their performance! Even guys! I couldn't help but smile!

-The dancing was awesome. They did it so well. Even though the dancers were kinda flooding the stage, BSB still stood out because of their excellence!

-When they accepted their award and Nick says "I don't have anything to say so I just wanna say hi to everyone back home!" I guess he couldn't think of anyone else to thank. It's usually, Brian thanks God, Howie thanks their families, AJ thanks fatima and the band, Kevin thanks their producers and everyone behind the scenes and Nick thanks the fans. But this time Kevin thanked the fans. I dunno what's up with that. Maybe it slipped out or maybe Nick told him to say it so he could say something cute. :)

-The guys still laughed when Chris Rock put on his little shin dig of BSB trying to be the New Kids On The Block.

Well, those are my pros and cons or BSB's MTV Video Music Awards performance. Personally, on the whole show, I was slightly disappointed. I mean, this is the last Video Awards of the Millennium. (Hehe, that sounds so corny!) And last years was so wicked, I thought for sure that this years would be the best. I'm not saying I was disappointed in BSB but in the whole show.

Thanx 4 listenin' to my opinions!

First of all, those jokes Chris Rock made about BSB, and Jennifer Lopez's ass were hilarious! Secondly, why did TLC win for best group? WHY!!!!!! But it was soo sweet when BSB gave TLC a standing ovation! Next...the performance. Well, see, me and my sis made a bet about what song they'd sing. I said LTL, she said IWITW. So when the opening notes for IWITW came on, I was MAD! Plus, Nick sounded constipated. But the, LTL started, and I was like YEAH!!!! What was with those dancers costumes. They looked like...I won't say it since this is family page. Anyways, the choreography rocked! And of course, our boys proved their talents in singing and dancing! But Nicky, honey, get a haircut, PLEASE! And buy a new shirt to show off you muscles, that one was just bad. I beg of thee. And A.J, dear, your shirt got caught on a nail, I think. Howie, braids look pretty good on you.Kevin didn't look as good as he usually does. Brian looked HOTTER that H-E- double hockey sticks. Just a note. The Britney, N'Sync performance stank! I'll give them one thing, they're pretty good lip syncers! When they (BSB) won viewers choice, I was so happy!!! Yeah! You Go Boys! That was sweet when Brian kissed Leighanne. And, when that 3 AM dude came out, that was funny! And Nick, gee, I wonder why you don't get to talk. You thought Boyz2Men was a trio hun. But all in all, they were great, as usual:)

How could you guys hate their performance! They all looked totally awesome.I thought Nick and Brian looked so Hot, and I thought Aj's shirt was a little too short. But if he likes it then it is ok by me. I didn't like all the dancers cause you barely see the BSB. Oh Congradulations to the Boys for winningvthe viewers choice award. KTBSBPA AE!!
