Okay I know this is a little late but how can you all call yourself BSB fans? Does it really matter how they look all the time? I mean come on do you always look perfect? They are human and I thought we were in love with the guys because of there music not there looks! Yes I thought they looked fine! Leather is in right now and I would have been wearing it to if I was at the VMA's! Did you all pick them for viewers choice because they looked HOT in IWITW? Yes they are good looking guys the best looking group out there! But it dosen't always matter how they look! I read reviews from MTV and I hear celebrites talking about their performance and they loved it! But why don't the fans? Because they don't want the guys to grow as artists and if we don't let them grow then they will end up like NKOTB! I mean we all like change and we should allow the guys to change, cause like I said I don't want them to end up like NKOTB. I personally thought the performance was off the hook. I mean they danced they were singing and they looked like they were actully having fun espically Nick when he was head banging! I personally didn't like some things about there performance but I still love the guys so it dosen't matter. If you really love the guys then it shouldn't matter if you thought Nick needed to cut his hair or if AJ needed a new shirt! AJ likes to be different okay and Nick was supposbly sick! So I mean I know the true BSB fans didn't care how they looked and they thought that the performance was one of the guys best! So KTBSPA FOREVER!

Hey people. I've just finished reading what everybody thought about the Backstreet Boys performance on the Video Music Awards and I decided to write one of my own cuz I want to say a few things that I thought someone else would say but no one has yet so I will.

First off, I've gotta say that I am SO disappointed. Of the fans. We have no right to judge them on what they wear or how their hair looks or how awfrul they sounded. {ok, so everyone has already said that but it's part of my lil thing} I personally think that they were awesome in every single possible way imaginable. I loved the clothes, the hair, whatever. Well, not the dancers. There were too many of them, I'll say that much. But you know what guys? It's THEIR life, they can dress however they want, whenever they want. We can't just be sitting our asses in front of the T.V. and be dissing them on it. Cuz, frankly, that's not what matters. It's the music and their talent, which they happen to have a lot of, unlike some people.

Nick's voice was different. It was lower. So what? Maybe {Gasp!} he's growing up. Or it could be that he's just sick, since he was, right? Either way, I have never loved his voice more than that night. It was terrific, and so was the rest of the guys'. Granted, I did not like Nick's hair. In my opinion, it was too long, and I never really liked it that much long. It's cute, but I just don't think it works as well as it does short, like in the IWITW video. Maybe a lil longer, but hey, if he wants to have it long, let him have it long! It's his hair. He probably doesn't like every single person's hair that he sees either, you know. I really didn't like the head bang thing he did. I thought that was kinda retarded. But if he wants to do it, that's his choice. He'll probably grow out of it, and if he doesn't, well, fine, he doesn't have to. I love him because Nick's Nick. I love everything about him so I respect him and love him for wanting to be different, for trying something else. I thought that was the best performance that I've seen from them. And I hope he got well or will get well soon from his cold. He didn't HAVE TO sing live, you guys. He chose {I think} to sing live for our benefit. So be happy that they want to make us happy. Okay, can you guys tell my fave is Nick? I can't help it. I'm just really pissed at all the fans who be dissing on them and think they can judge them on what they wear. Okay, I'll move on now.

AJ's shirt...umm...was not the highlight of my evening, I'll say that. I really don't like it too much, but it's his style to wear what no one else is wearing so it's cool with me. He can have his opinion and I can have mine. I just hope he doesn't wear it at the concert. Oh yea, keep in mind that this is my opinion. I know that I'm going off on everyone who was dissing on it when I'm here saying what I didn't like about it too. But this is how I feel and you people that don't agree with me, don't. You can write me or whatever. I don't care.

I really liked their performance. I thought it was awesome. I liked the all black leather, although I agree with some of you and think they should have had a lot less dancers or none at all on stage with them; or have them wear different colors so we could actually see where they were. I think they shoulda swept everything cuz they deserved it. I mean, Lauryn Hill is cool and everything, I have nothing against her, it's just I don't think "DooWop" was the best video. I just think that she won so many cuz she racked up at the Grammy's. But I won't get into that.

I thought Kevin's shirt was really cool, as was Howie's, Brian's, AJ's, and Nick's. When they were in their normal clothes. It was sooo cute when Nick said his lil thing about never getting to talk! At least he did talk, rather than not.

Umm...okay, what else did I want to say...I know that I'm saying alot, and I'm sorry this is so long, but I want to get everything in so that people can see what being a true fan is.

Oh, yeah, one last thing: LARGER THAN LIFE is for the US, the FANS! And yet here we are, dissing on them, saying you embarassed and ashamed {?!?} being known to like them cuz of one performance that was slammin' in the first place??? I'm sorry, but I don't get that. I mean, when Brian co-wrote this song and they sing it for us, on the MTV VMA's that has the highest ratings and everybody watching it, I don't think what they had in mind was us putting it down while they were singing it, for us. So...I just can't understand what you guys are saying. I love them no matter what and I always will, no matter how or what they look like. Thanks for reading this, well, if you did, cuz I know that it's really long, and once again, I'm really sorry about that, and I hope this will give you a new perspective on the whole thing. I realize that not everyone will like them as much as I do, but I honestly don't think we, as fans, have any right whatsoever to judge them on their hard work.

Oh, yea, by the way, CONGRATULATIONS on winning VIEWER'S CHOICE!! The Boys DEFINITELY deserved it!!!!

~Luv lots

Hana

Hey wassup everybody? Well I didn't know we could still send in the reviews for VMAs so I decided to send my opinion in and hopefully Backstreet.net puts it up! Okay well here's what I thought of their performance at the VMAs.Well first off I thought the performance was off the hook! I totally luved the dancing for "Larger Than Life"(Our song!).Fatima did a tremendous job with the choreography.Props to her.I liked how they switched from "IWITW" to "LTL".That was tight.About the clothing of the female dancers, well, some people thought it was inappropriate but I thought it looked tight cuz it had an edge to it.The thing that I didn't like was the lighting on the stage cuz I could hardly see their cute faces!! Did you guys hear how Carson liked the fact that they had a real live band playing for them instead of just playing the track? Unlike Miss Britney who did some lip-synching...I liked how Chris Rock introduced her and 'N SYNC..."Are you ready for some real lip-synching?".LOL,I liked that. Now onto how they were dressed...Kevin looked good as usual.Brian, gosh he looked so adorable!! Howie,he looked cute.I thought the cornrow braids thingy looked cool.Nick,he looked so you know...ugh.Don't get me wrong ladies but he's my favorite member. He could have at least comb his hair back with a little part of his hair hangin' on his forehead.Gosh he looks so cute like that! A.J.,well you know A.J. is always stylin'.I thought the shirt(midriff top) he was onstage was eeewww.I thought it looked weird(sowwie!!).I luved the whole 'leather' concept.Dang, they look GOOD in leather.I think what they were wearing, not onstage but what they wore to the awards show, didn't compare to what they wore last year to the VMAs.They looked oh-so-fine last year in Versace. But they still looked good this year of course.Yeah!! They won the "Viewer's Choice Award"!! I wanna shout-out to all the fans who voted. Nick, awww he never gets to talk! Well,he did this time. He's so cute! By the way,who was that weird dude who went on the stage and said "Get up at 3"??? I think that was it.WEIRD.Anyways,Backstreet was AWESOME!!! All I can say is that I enjoyed their performance and when I watched the repeats of the VMAs,I make sure I watch the show 1 hour into it cuz thats when BSB performs.:) Okay well thanx for readin' my review.I know it's long,SOWWIE.KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!!

Hi, ok pull up a seat, cause here we go ! I think that alot of these reviews seems to be more focused on what they wore and not the performance . I think they had one of the better peformances that night. Their coreography was different, the look was different, the vibe was different and they pulled it off like only the BSB can . I respect the fact that they sung live , they had a live band and in one day , they put together a performance that killed Britney and Nsync { even with her awesome dancers } ! Everyones looking at the fact that the image is different . Remember, this is the Backstreet boys, they rock because everytime you see them, the performance is new ! I think that Fatima is one of the best in her field ! I like how she turn's their performances into almost a theatre show, they do what their paid to do, entertain ! The dancer do not look like hookers, if you look at celebrities, does are the styles !  I personally loved the crop top AJ wore, because he would be the only one who wo uld . That's AJ for ya, never boring ! I liked Howie's hair, it's the style now, get over it ! I love Nick's hair long, I think it looks better that way . Although they went a little over board with the grease during the performance . I thought it was sweet that his dad came with him . Brian was beautiful . Kevin, "good lord" , all I can say is more form-fitting clothes !! I  still love my boys, because with all the crap they have to go through to be respected, they laid it down at the awards . they were the only " pop group " to go past the fans and get into the " holier than thou " celebritie's faces' .The whole vibe of the performance fit the vibe of ' Larger than life ' perfectly . They kept it real by keeping it BSB, which is unique and entertaining ! The things every other boyband wants' ! They actually have a chance of making it past this level and beyond if they stay together ! Go boys, much love !

ok, I know this is a little late but I just finished reading the other reviews and I had to give my opinion. First of all I just have to say that BSB's performance was GREAT!!!!!! They really out did themselves. Second of all, I have to address the so called "fans" who dissed the boys performance. How can you call yourself true fans after the things some of you said about them. I mean come, a true fan shouldn't really care about how they looked. A true fan likes them for their talent. I admit, I do think that they are extremely good looking, but that's not the only reason I like them. I think that they are very talented. We are suppossed to be fans and we are suppossed support them no matter what they may do. I mean come on people, you have to realize that they have to change with the times, if they don't they'll end up like New Kids On The Block and disappear, and I'm sure that most of us don't want that to happen. Well, I think I've taken up a little too much time, but on one last note, I think their performance was a slap in the face to all artist, critics, and anyone else who may have dissed them in the past. They proved the other night that they are not just another "boy band". KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!!!!!

I just wanna say that these people shouldn't say "oh I absolutely hated Brian's hair blond" and junk like that. Especially with Brian's hair--- he's had the SAME EXACT HAIRSTYLE for how long now?!?!?!?!?! so you shouldn't be surprised he changed it!!! it's not illegal for any of them to change their hair OR hair color!!! and just because that performance wasn't their best you shouldn't be ashamed to say you LOVE the BSB!!! Now I do hafta admit the girls could have been wearing a little bit more, but........... it's not really that big of a deal. I also happen to like Britney Spears and NSync, but I mainly like Britney Spears cuz I know all of her songs BY HEART bcuz my brother loves her soooooooooooo much (and I really like the beat of her new song Crazy---IT RULES!!!), and I only like NSync's songs. I could care less if they lip-synched, just as long as I didn't pay to see them lipsynch. (and when I saw NSync in concert they weren't lip-synching, FYI). What I'm trying to say is even though the Britney/NSync performance wasn't very good, you shouldn't be complaining cuz even if the performance was awesome, a lot of you out there would have said it was rotten because you didn't like them. Anyways, I just think u guys shouldn't be complaining about the BSB's performance, especially since they were NICE ENOUGH to perform like 4 days before their tour starts. I know if I had been asked to perform 4 days before a 2-month long tour started for me I wouldn't have!!!!!! Well, I've said enough, so remember to KTBSPA (hint hint) and have fun if you're going to a BSB concert, 'kay? (like that'll be a problem!!! hehehehee!)

I am compelled to write a review of my own after reading all the sorry teeny-bopperish reviews the site had posted (well maybe not all of them are teeny-bopperish, but most are).

I can't believe how biased younger BSB fans can be. I understand that they admire BSB and put them up on pedestals, but if they would stop to actually watch another performance they would see that it wasn't that bad. All they seem to see is 'oh I really hate this group they suck'. They don't even give them a chance.

With that said on to my review. BSB's performance wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I thought it was alright for what it was, but last year when they did 'Everybody' my mouth stayed open the whole time. I didn't get that effect from this performance. Maybe it was just because I was already bored out of my mind.

I personally think the leather thing wasn't working for them, and AJ's shirt was killing me. Other than that the dancing was descent (way to go Fatima) and the singing was alright. Although, i've heard them sing better.

Now on to this Nsync thing. I believe one of the reviews said that what they did was 'babyish', well I must be a baby because i'm on what is called a STEP SQUAD and we do that sort of thing all the time. Of course, I doubt many of the younger fans know what a step squad is.

I thought their performance was o.k. for the short time that they had, and I don't think the desks and school atmosphere was their idea. I think it was Britney's.

One more thing, I just saw 'Larger Than Life', and it looked alot like the dance that they did at the VMA's. A day to practice my arse, sometimes they brag a little to much.

I want to say that, I wish they would've won the "Video of the Year" or "Best Pop Video" because, they ruled...I love alot of people! Anyway, I was maaaaaaad of course!! When they didn't win that, that prove that they still ain't GETTING RESPECT FROM THE MUSIC BUSINESS!!! Just call me crazy, but I still believed that they are not getting respect from fellow people in the the music business. I also hated the way Chris Rock was doing to the Backstreet Boys. Anyway, Congrats Backstreet Boys for wining "Viewer Choice Awards." I'm keeping the backstreet boys pride alive!!! Love ya, Linda.

hey everyone. i just wanna say that the Backstreet Boys performance at the VMA was like, so tottaly AWESOME!!! I mean, people!!! I've read most of the reviews about the VMA, and the negative ones are just downright freakin' RUDE!!! Hello?! Have ne of you people heard of the saying, "If u don't have ne thing nice to say, don't say ne thing"? keep those negative opinions to urself. i dun think ne one wants to read about them, k? well, on to my review. i think their performance was awesome out of all the other performances at the VMA. the black leather thing was dope. so what if their dancers looked like hookers? they're not there to "do it" with ne one. they're there to entertain people by dancing with the Backstreet Boys. Brian is my fave, and he looked great. Kevin is just FOINE! And Howie's braids are just adorable. now, most of the negative stuff is about A.J. and Nick. I know his shirt is a wee bit short, but so? he just wants to try something new. Same as Nick. And hasn't ne one noticed that Nick lost some weight? Ne way, about Nick's hair. So? My hair is a little bit like that, and people at my skool like it. So y not like Nick's hair? And i also feel sorry for him cuz he just split with his g/f. sorry this is soooo long. one more thing is that they won the viewer's choice award. Yay! they won the award! stop being so sad about them not winning some more. one is better than none ne ways. hey caitlin, if u put this up, thanx a bunch! and people, thanx for taking ur time to read all this, sorry its so long. ~Steph

I am a daily visitor to Backstreet.net and I appreciate the info that I get here, but I have to say that I was highly disgusted with some of the reviews you guys have been giving BSB reciently. What I don't understand is why you are here. I can't even imagine that you would consider yourselves fans!

Are you the same people who sold out their "INTO THE MILLINNIUM "tour in one day?

Are you the same people broke Garth Brooks' record by rushing to the store to buy Millinneum the first week?

Are you the people who know every lyric to every song that BSB has ever made?

If so, whats wrong with you now? Don't you realize that Backstreet Boys are number 1!! They obviosly care alot about you but all you can do is talk about how bad they looked at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Don't you people know that the song that they performed (LARGER THAN LIFE) is a song written for you and about you? You should respect the fact that they went on stage and sang and danced their hearts out and they did it just for you, the so - called fans. I'm starting to wonder why they even bother putting up with you guys.

But they continuously do it because they love us, the fans, and I was under the assumption that we all loved them, too. With all the haters and critics out there we should be Keeping The Backstreet Pride Alive, insted of saying we are ashamed to be fans.

So, anybody who is here saying something bad about BSB's VMA performance (which Rocked, by the way), or anything else, you should take a good look at yourself before you call yourself a fan, because real fans are there for you no matter what!

KTBSPA - Elise

Okay, This is a comment about my review that I wrote, and about everyone who e-mailed me!! Thanks to the people who e-mailed me and told me that they agreed with me, and said that it was cool that I gave my opinion, but to those of you who e-mailed me and basically harassed me, get a life. I'm not sorry that my opinion isn't the same of yours. Many people liked it, but also many people didn't!! Get over it, it was one performance. Just because I didn't like it, you didn't need to e-mail me with nasty comment. Such comments for those of you who are wondering were, that I'm not a true BSB fan because I dissed them. Now my comment to that. Just think about it, if you agree with that, that i'm not a true BSB fan, cause i said that I hated the performance, and it was awfull, then just think about it for a min. If you call yourself a true BSB fan, and you still think that, then you aren't as true as a fan as you think. If you were a true BSB fan, you wouldn't harass a fellow BSB fan just because they didn't like a performance of theirs. I'm sorry to say, but some of us have eyes, and aren't mesmorized by every single thing that the boys do. We have eyes, and can see when they have crappy performances. Everything they do isn't wonderful. As even the boys say, they aren't perfect!!!! Even they realize that, why can't you?? And another comment I got was that I'm harsh, critical, disrespectful, and childish. Scuse me but I'm 18 and not childish. Childish would be e-mailing someone and harassing them cause they have a different opinion, anyone dissagree with that?? And disprespectful?? Do you think the boys would care what I had to say? I bet if you asked them, they would tell you that that performance was awfull. And as for harsh and critical, I was just telling the truth!! So you people who disagree with me, just think about it before you e-mail people telling things like I've been told. Do you think it'll change their minds?? Cause with all what people said to me, no one changed my mind. I still think it sucked, and always will. lol, I'm sure I'll get more lovely e-mails from some of you who disagree out there, but please just think about it before you e-mail me, or anyone else for the matter of fact!! Thanks for listening.

Erin

I just wanted everyone to quit picking on Howie D. and saying he looked gay in the concert he looked fantastic and they all did a fantastic job on the VMA's. I think that everyone fails to realize that they are just trying out new looks and so far everything has looked great. I don't see anyone complaining and saying that people in other groups look like they are gay because they have their hair in braids or dredlocks in rock bands such as Korn and Lit or anyother band. I don't see anyone talk about the cloths that alot of other acts were such as Kid Rock (I like him but his cloths well) or N'syncs baggy pants or anyother group for that matter. If you saw TRL yesturday you probably noticed that they wore the same outfits in the video that they did on the VMA's. They were cloths which looked futuristic. And another thing quit picking on AJ's shirt those are the kind of shirts guys used to were in the gym and they still do for that matter it is not gay. Also I think that Nick look good to not greasy just tough like he was ready for a good fight. Before you criticize someone think about their feelings and hey they just might read what you wrote and the things that have been written were not very nice how would you like someone to talk about you like that. Oh yeah I forgot to mention for all of you that said that the singing was not that great think about it if you were up in front of all of those celebs wouldn't you be nervous to? I just want to say that they did a good job and I am proud to be a BSB fan.

Hey Caitlin! i'm just writing in response to the comments on bsb's performance. Actually, when i first saw the boys appear, i thought that IWITW was good! and then, they took their coats and started perform "larger than Life". My 1st impression was:" Man, what are they doin'?"; i didn't really like it; and you know why? because this style was new to me, they had never shown this aspect of themselves. But now that I look back at it, I"m the proudest bsb fan! because they have changed and this is something that only great artist do! I mean, if an artist (a bad,of course!) finds a style or a music that catches people attention, he will stick to it in order to get the most profit, if i can say so! whereas the boys evolue and that's a really good that they're gonna be here tomorrow; because if you stick to just one style, eventually people will get sick of it. The boys just keep on surprising us and i couldn't be happier! So to all the bsb fans that were shocked and dissapointed, just stay tuned, you'll love it at the end! Thanx and bye! KTBPA! Hey guys- I know this is a little late but like many people i felt like i needed to express my views on the performance after reading so many bad things... I for one thought that the performance was off the hook!! Everything was absloutley amazing!! Obviously everyone there thought so too because all i heard was praises from big time celebrities! And any one who would be ashamed to be a fan after that awesome performance is no fan at all!! "all you people can't you see, can't you see? How your loves affecting our reality... everytime we're down, you can make it right and that makes you larger than life!" They wrote the song for US people!! The whole song is about US the fans!! Anyone who disses on them for giving their all for us, performing for us, doing it all for us and then thanking us by writing a song for us... I mean who else do you know of that writes songs for their fans?! NO ONE! So there you go! It shouldn't matter what they wore or what their dancers wore, or if they were a little off-key (which they weren't!!) and anyone who thinks that stuff is what's important sorry to say but you are shallow!! Those are five of the most talented guys and they would do anything for their fans!! You all should apprectiate that instead of dissing on them!! I know the guys personally and they are the sweetest guys in the world!! they love their fans more than anything and you all should take that into consideration before you go slamming them!! Well.. I am gonna shut up now, and i know that people are entitled to thier own opinion but if you are gonna do a bad review... then don't slam them because it isn't appreciated! Thanks and KTBSPA FOREVER no matter what!!!!

Peace out... ROXY

oh and congrats to the guys for the viewer's choice award!! That says it all right there!!!! WAY TO GO!!!

Okay...I'm just writing this review because i know all of you are saying N'sync did a bad job...Yes they did, but it was once they hardly ever lipsync. They are a great group. Now for BSB they did an okay job. I mean I love them to death it's just that Nick looked like a scrub(he should be in TLC's No Scrubs), A.J. looked gay(What was he thinking with that shirt) not even the stupidest person in the world would wear it. Howie, Kevin and Brian looked the best and they didn't even look that good. Atleast N'sync didn't looked like greasy freaks. Okay now on to their singing...Nick sounded so bad(Yes, i understand that he was sick)but it still was fun to laugh at him. LTL sounded really good...Their outfits for the performace were just stupid...i mean the whole leather thing just didn't look right on them especialy Nick...he looked like Hercules(No he's not FAT!!)Way too many dancers i mean i couldn't ever see nick in his hercules outfit...good thing i taped the show. Well, I have to say that they were better then N'sync(but just by a little. Very little) I mean you would get mad at BSB too if the sung with Britney Spears...But I think she made N'Sync lipsync, because that's all she does, because if she sings live everyone will laugh at her. I'm also glad that I didn't spend the money on tickets to one of BSB's concerts because I don't think it's worth it...after there performace on the VMA's who care's..woohoo they try to act cool...now lets spend $500 on a stupid last row ticket...I know I'm gonna get a lot of E-mails about this...so bring it on...

I've read so many negative reviews and a few good, I decided to throw my 2 cents in.

I'll agree that the awards were over hyped, but anyone who watches MTV knows they wanna over hype anything. I thought Chris Rock was really funny. Being an older BSB fan (24) I cracked at his jokes made about the Boys'. Now, on to the preformance. I personally loved it, even my husband said it was well done and a step in the right directions considering he's in to Limp, Kid Rock, and Korn that was good coming from him. So Nick was off during IWITW and Brian's voice was shakey, people really don't sound the way they do on the CD. It's just life, everyone hits a bad note every once in a while. I personally didn't mind Nick ditching his "pretty boy" look considering he's 19 it's time for a change. I thought Brian and Kevin looked hot. And I totally dig Howie's hair. AJ's shirt was a little, I don't know, out there. My sister-in-law has a shirt like that. I didn't personally like it, but it was him. The dance routine kicked ass. I loved it. There were a few too many dancers, but it was good. As far as Britney and 'N Sync go their dancing was great. It looked as though they put more time and effort into it then the Boys' did. I'm don't think Britney sang live, buy 'N Sync may have. I enjoyed their preformance overall. The Boys' winning Viewer's Choice was great. I didn't feel sorry for Nick not getting to speak because I really think he doesn't want to because if you watch when they get on stage Howie motions towards the mic for Nick to start talking and then Nick motioned for Howie to go on, but Brian ends up talking first. Overall I thought the awards were pretty good. A big change for the Boys' in the right direction.

Hey, everyone. I know I'm a little late (actually, a lot late cuz I just got back from New York City), but I had to give my opinion on the Video Music Awards, being a really huge fan for the past four years. I thought the Backstreet Boys performance was awesome. I must admit Nick did look a little out of it, but he was sick the week before and he looked like he hadn't completely gotten over it yet. But then I was one of the very incredibly lucky few to actually attend the Video Music Awards, so I got an upclose look at him. I got to sit behind them a good portion of the time I was there. They were the whole reason I went (thanks for sending me and my friends, grandma!!!). As for the dancers, I will agree with most of you and they could've used less dancers, but I did like the outfits they were wearing. And the dance moves were great. Anyway, I thought all the Boys looked great, of course I got a better look than most. Kevin was looking gorgeous as always, Brian was looking so adorable, Howie looked cool with his new 'do, AJ was being himself and looking different but cool, and Nick looked really good (even though I, too, think he needs a haircut) but he looked tired to me as well. I mean, he actually fell asleep and had to be woken up when they won Viewer's Choice. If you were paying attention, he was a little late in reacting to the great news. And the Boys were really gracious about all the jokes Chris Rock made about them and laughed along with the rest of the crowd. That's all I have to say. Thanks!

since everybody who's everybody is writing their opinion on the VMA's, i thought i'd share mine. so, here i go... Chris Rock - man i don't like that guy. he tries to be funny but to put it simply, he isn't. but i luved how he said "i wanna see who'll be the bad backstreet boy to get britney spears pregnant!", howie and brian's expression's were priceless! i think i was expecting to much from bsb's performance so when they came out singin IWITW, i'll admit it, i was dissapointed. they weren't singing their best but i don't care. they gave it their all and that's what's important. AJ - k, the shirt just scared me! but u gotta luv AJ... Nick - nick's my fave so no matter what he wears, i luv it. i thought his outfit was totally cool, a good change. i kinda liked the long messy hair look. but ya, it could've been a lil' bit cleaner. Kev - he looked good, that's all i gotta say Brian - i think we all luved Brian that night Howie - Howie Howie, i don't really like him but he was alright, 'ecpt for his hair!

i felt so sorry for nick when they accepted their award, let the guy talk! kev almost hit him with the award too...

Hey!!

I just wanted to voice my opinion on how the Backstreet Boys performance was at the MTV VMA show. Hopefully, my review, will be up in the bullentins with the rest of the fans:)

I think the guys put on one of the BEST performances at the show, despite with other fans may think. I remember, one reader stated that Nick was out of tune or something and Biran's voice was shakey. Well, if I was up there in front of alot of people, especially music artists of ever kind, I'd be nervous too... and besides, I'd rather hear Nick sing a little off than to lip-synch... you know what I mean?? Yea, need I not mention WHO they were. That's the beauty of singing live... and far more, we all know that Nick can sing. The phenomenal Michael Jackson can hit some bad notes at his shows, but atleast we know he's not fakin' it. So cut the Boys some slak...

I was reading most of the other reviews, and alot of you guys say that some of there moves were, "gay"??? Umm, can someone PLEASE email me at: bsbkevvie@backstreet-boys.com and tell me what that means.. I would REALLY like to know... seriously. Is that some new slang or something else or is it just what it means?? Like i.e., someone told me that "Nobody But You" is the gayest song"... Does that mean it's good or what??? I have to admit that I am a Black, 1- year-old female and I've never heard anyone say that in my part of town. Someone PLEASE explain to me. Thanks

I also thought that their clothes were cool... what's wrong with the guys wearing the same thing when they picked up their award?? Just becuase a whole bunch of other celebs want to change 4 and 5 times, doesn't mean the Boys have to. I actually think they're the smart ones. They use their money wisely... see, that's how many stars go bankrupt. They spend way too much for one dress for the evening. Then just imagine... they've bought 4 outifts for a one- night show?? Oh, pLease. The guys looked Gr8!!!

Now, Nsync fans, don't hate me for this, but I got bored looking at Nsync. Really... that military routine, just isn't their style. Towards the end, it just got tired. Usually, I'll look at them, becuase they are ok, but I just got bored. I don't know.. maybe I was tired. Question: Not that I care, but why does Britany spears hang out with Nsync all the time?? They're not her label mates at all. Oh, you guys DON'T want to know what I think. Well, since she's beefin' with BSB anyway...

And lastly, I couldn't agree with you guys when you said something about the dancers. They totally cuttered up the stage. It's ridiculous. Ok, the dancers are fun to watch, but I spent most of my time, trying to find atleast ONE of the Boys, through all them dancers. There are WAY too many dancers. I don't even know how the Boys got up on that little rising stage at the end. Nevertheless, on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best), I'd rate the performance a 9 1/2.

Ok, I read the messages from some of you guy (the fans) about the BSB performance being terrible and everything like that, and I really don't understand what you're talking about. It was different from their normal, clean-cut attitude, I will admit, but I thought it was the best performance I've ever seen, even better than their concert last year.

I understand that alot of you would rather the Backstreet Boys be their old selves, the young, innocent ones that would never harm a thing but you guys have to realize that they are all getting older and are gonna change. You also have to understand that they are trying to break they're 'boy-band' label and make music for everybody, instead of little teenybopper girls. I think they're performance on Thursday was a message to alot of people that The Backstreet Boys are more than just a cookie-cutter boy-band, new kids copier. It showed that they are growing up alot, and that may be a bad thing a few of you, but if you don't like their new sound and attitude, than don't be a fan anymore. Don't complain to us true fans about how much their new sound sucks and that they shouldn't act so grown up, because that is really you're own opinion and we don't care.

Ok, so maybe this is a bit late, but I was hoping you could put it up anyways. I read a whole lot of the reviews everyone else gave about the VMA performance and was really shocked!! So many professed fans turned their backs on the BSB cus of the way they looked that night!!

So heres my review; I must say I agree that the outfits Nick and AJ were wearing that night were, ummm, unusual to say the best. Personally I'm not one for the whole crop top thing on a guy, but hey, whatever makes him happy. And Nick's was not the most flattering outfit, plus his hair was very different. But those of you who have been keeping up on BSB news knew that he changed it cus he got sick of the wholepart down the middle church boy routine. However, if ya'll were really paying attention to the VMAs you would also have noticed Nick has REALLY buffed up. And that tummy everyone teases him about? Where did that go?!! Brian, Howie and Kevin looked good as always, and the black leather really looked pretty good on Howie. Plus his braids looked awesome. I think he has them in their new video too. I didn't see much of Kevin, but what I did see he looked good.

Onto the performance itself, yeah their voices were a bit shaky, but it was pretty good(BTW, LMK did Nick's voice get deeper?). For all of those performaces people actually DID sing to that night you probably noticed that the sound system really sucked and every live performance was pretty bad. Not that the Boys did bad, their dancng and singing were pretty good, just the equipment was working against them. All together they did really well that night(personally I think they should have won best group video as well, but no one on the committee that chose the winners seemed to want to grant them what they deserve)and Brian was really cute when he joked about that guy. I am VERY glad they won viewers choice, not that there was any doubt, but hey :), N'sync was pretty close there for a while.

Well, thats all folks. Keep on keeping the BSB prde alive, these guys have earned it and my greatest respect. They put out great music, aim to please us and still face the adversity others place in front of them cus they happen to be a pop group. TO the Boys, wherever you may be, Thenk you and we all love you!!

Oh, BTW, did anyone else notice everyone Chris Rock made fun of won an award...just thot I'd put that out there......

Hi!

I just thought I'd add my two cents about the VMA's. Now as a BSB fan AND an NSYNC fan, I must say that neither of their performances was awesome. I did, however, enjoy the dance remix of Tearin Up My Heart. It was different, but enjoyable. And on another note, what does it matter if they decided to lip-sync? I don't think they did seems how you can hear JC running out of breath, but they still looked good. It's not like groups don't do it all the time and just because they did and BSB didn't doesn't make them any less of a group than BSB. BSB seemed like their normal selves. Not that impressive, just a show (which ened up being much better than the video by the way). I still had a good time watching them though.

Why must everyone turn everything around to make BSB out to be the good guys and NSYNC to suck? They sing the same kind of music and they're both awesome groups so get over it!

VMA: after all the Head Banging , and Lip singing. One savior came along, who says that performance wasn't good? what fan? because they kept their shirts on? well i guess u aren't a real fan. Anyways they showcased their talent, and shut N sync and Britney spears LIL performances DOWN with LIVE singing and hard chreography. I mean i cant even get it down and i can do every artist chreography. But when u are gettin down and really performing, u don't look at dancing as a task, and u can sing live, and give a real performance. I must admit, I wasn't thrilled with the outfits, they were going for extreme tight, and i woulda liked extreme baggy, since they did STEP and stuff but hey whatever! I love backstreet boys, no matter what they do, i love it. I can grow with them and i acknowledge they are growing as people and artist. SO nick, i don't blame u for not wanting to be a pretty boy! who wants to be one, someone who noone takes seriously and only likes their looks, how long did u think NICK would enjoy that? he's a growing BOY. he is a real person too. Nick's to low key, he doesn't like people talking bout his butt and abs and stuff, who does? it's disrespecting when u are not a MODEL but a SINGER. I appreciate BSB whatever they try to do is amazing to me. I was all up into da VmA performance I loved it. GREAT hit! they got DOWN. i mean D O W N

Hey Everyone!

Well, after almost a week I have thought of what to say here. The MTV awards were amazing, although I do have to say I was anticipating BSB the most.

I thought the leather was absolutely earth-shattering; the boys looked amazing. Let's start with the monologue. Chris Rock, I really don't know what to say about that guy. He was funny but some of the jokes went too far and he needed to cut down on them. Take for example the Jennifer Lopez joke and the Britney joke; although that one was funny. I guess you just have to take it with a grain of salt.

I have to say when it came down to the BSB's performance; I was absolutely blown away; I've heard various things about it and they being not all good, but all I know is that they did a terrific job. Seeing this I am even more excited about the concert that I will attend later this fall.

I couldn't believe some of the reviews that I have read about the show, things being said about the performance that it was bad, that they did the "all to familiar" songbreakintoanothersong thing, that Nick looked sick, that Howie's hair looked awful, etc, etc; I FOR ONE DO NOT BELIEVE ANY OF THIS. The boys are individuals, they are not going to dress like WE think they should dress, they are not going to go to an event by themselves because WE want them to.

So, I think that as BSB fans we should all grow up and realize that they are in this business for the music not to get picked apart; and as FANS that should be the furthest thing from our minds.

Thank you, and goodnight.

I am sure that just like me, everyone reading this was stoked to hear that the Backstreet Boys were preforming on 9.9.99, at the MTV Video Music Awards. I am a HUGE Backstreet Boys fan, and I couldn't wait to catch every little glipse of them. I saw them on the red carpet, they looked so good! Especially Brian!!

And when the show started I was counting down the minutes until thier preformance! I must say that it was a very good preformance, but at the same time it was a little disapointing! When they came wearing the long coats, they of course, looked incredible, like they always do, but then they took them off... That right there was a big mistake if you were A.J. What in the world was he wearing? Guys don't wear shrugs! Don't get me wrong, I like A.J. and all. It just looked like he went in to Britney Spears` dressing room, by accident. And Nick, oh my gosh, he's a whole other story. I don't think he's had a hair cut since last Christmas, and by the looks of it on Thursday, it seemed to me that he hasn't washed it since then either. At the begining of I want it that way, he sounded like a 13 year old boy going through puberty, it was disapointing. I could have done better, and I can't sing worth anything! But maybe he was having a bad day!

That of course doesn't change the way I feel about my favorite guys in the world but I was a little upset about A.J.'s shrug. The rest of the guys looked great and sang and danced great too. Oh well what can I say, I am not the one who does their wordrobe! I still love them to death but I just wanted to know if anyone else thinks it is a little wierd that A.J. had on a shrug?

hey!

ok...now i was waiting for soooo long for the vma's to come on...i was actually counting the days down to 9.9.99...i couldn't wait for them!...then the night finally came and i was, huh..i waited for this!...the performances weren't that bad but the vma's in general, sucked...chris rock was funny but come on...he went overboard especially with his jennifer lopez jokes...i thought the 2 limo thing was totally not needed...i could just imagine how she felt when he said that....and then the thing w/ who will impregnate britney spears...why'd he have to choose the backstreet boys...i actually thought he'd say justin from nsync cuz of all those rumors...anywayz...to all u's who said that the bsb performance sucked...u are so not true fans...i thought they were great!!!!! it was totally different from all their other performances...yea they looked tought and nick might have had his hair a little too long...but who care bout that...the performance in general was great....and the fact that they actually sang their songs and had a live band playing for them instead of some cd or tape in the background proved that they are true singers....britney spears and nsync's performance was good but only that...they coulda atleast have sung the song...that showed that the can't sing and dance well at the same time...anywayz...overall the bsb performance was the greatest performance and the vma's itself sucked....lauryn hill took home awards that she didn't deserve and tlc so didn't deserve their award for the group video..i mean i like them, but come on...they came back after like a 6 yr. break and all of a sudden they're like the best thing ever....anywayz..bsb should have taken home more awards but i'm happy that they took the viewer's choice award...that counts the most cuz it's from their fans...anywayz...bsb rocked...KTBPA p.s...put this up in your review section if u can....sweetu (that's my nickname)

I feel compelled to write my opinion on the BSB at the VMA awards. This was the first performance of the boys that we have had an opportunity to see since the "Into the Millennium" tour started. Boy, were our expectations high! Too high in some instances, I think. I think they handled themselves wonderfully, despite all the jokes Chris Rock told that were in such poor taste. As for their actual performance, I enjoyed it. I don't think it was the best performance they have ever given, but hey, I am a fan, and WHATEVER they do, I'm behind them 100%. I give them props that they actually sang, which is more than many others did on this show. I think that we need to give them some space to expand and update their image if they wish. Lots of people are unhappy about their physical appearance in this performance, but I really don't mind them trying new looks. Their music is evolving, and so is their appearance and style. If you are a fan solely because of their physical attr! activeness, then you are missing out on the real talent. Their musical talent and ability to collaborate as a group in every way is the real talent here! The fact that all of them are very attractive physically is an added bonus! The dancing was great, as always, and yes, some of the moves were a little "out there" but that goes right along with the theme of the song. I, for one, can't wait to see them in concert this fall, and whether they dress wild as wild can be, or in their more traditional sports gear or blazers, I know I won't be disappointed!

Well i just wanted say that after watching the performance by the Backstreet Boys at the MTV Video Awards I finally came to the realization of why they have been so successful in the Music Industry. I am an 18 year old male into rap, r&b, and other types of music. Along with many of the other BSB "haters" i used to knock and bash them. I watched the perfomance on 9/9/99 and was like WOW theses guys aren't too bad. I actually thought they were by far the best performers at the awards show. I saw that they actually had talent and they showed that they can amaze the crowds with it and not get by on good looks alone. I commend the BSB for a job well done and i hope that the continue to be successful in the future. HAHA listen to me, i guess i'm a fan now, well after seeing how good these 5 crackers with attitudes really are, i'm not ashamed to admit it. Rock on BSB. you won me over.
