On August 19, 1999, Toronto's radio station 92.5 KISS FM launched their Backstreet Boys - Backstreet Location Contest. The contest was to run from August 19'th through to November 11'th.

People were supposed to tune in every Thursday at 4:00pm to hear them announce the street corner that they were on. You had 92 minutes to get there by car, truck, or bike. Every vehicle that got there received an envelope... hopefully your's had the BSB concert tickets! Sounds cool, eh? Every envelope contained something. Everyone was a winner!

Talk about traffic chaos... it was backed up for blocks. Cars were parked in the middle of intersections. Complaints poured in on the first day. Transit buses were in gridlock... ambulance and fire services weren't able to respond in a timely manner... police cruisers were caught in the jam and traffic cops were called out in full force!

At one intersection alone over 60 tickets were issued. Traffic in parts of downtown TO came to a stand-still. By September 2'nd the city had shut down the contest. Rumour has it that KISS FM will announce a new contest soon...
