Sears Presents Backstreet Boys Into The Millennium Tour

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S) and the Backstreet Boys announced the dates of the U.S./Canadian tour, Sears Presents The Backstreet Boys Into The Millennium, which kicks off September 15 in Ft. Lauderdale. Tickets for all announced concerts go on sale Aug. 14.

The tour, one of the most highly anticipated schedules in pop music, will visit 39 cities in 11 weeks this fall. Due to high demand across North America, the Backstreet Boys will perform back-to-back shows in some states.

The sponsorship of the Backstreet Boys -- whose album, Millennium, shattered sales records last month, moving 1,134,000 copies in a single week -- provides Sears with a solid platform to reach youths during the key back-to-school time frame.

Activated with an aggressive integrated marketing plan, the Sears sponsorship will connect younger customers with Sears through Backstreet Boys-themed advertising, promotions, merchandise and cause-related activities on both the national and local levels, providing unique opportunities for fans to meet the group.

Through a major deal with pop sensation, Backstreet Boys, and its management, The Firm, Sears secured the presenting sponsorship of the band's U.S./Canadian tour. In a move unique to industry standards, tickets for the Sears Presents Backstreet Boys Into The Millennium Tour will go on sale simultaneously in all cities across North America.

Tickets to all Backstreet Boys concerts can be purchased through Ticketmaster or local ticket outlets.

The Backstreet Boys sponsorship continues Sears long tradition of supporting major national music acts, including the successful North American concert tour of international superstars Phil Collins and Gloria Estefan in 1994 and 1996, respectively. Recently, Sears announced its sponsorship of Latino superstar Juan Gabriel for his 24-city U.S. concert tour Sears Presents Juan Gabriel Gira '99.
