Just what goes through my head when I listen to it...

'Kay y'all... I'm sure you'll all agree that Millennium is yet the best album to come in 1999. And you may be right. But still, there are some things I really wouldn't mind changing on this album...

The Songs

Somehow, every song contains something that HAS to go. or almost

1. Larger than life **** (/4) This is a fabulous song. The fact that is was written by Brian about us, the fans, makes it even more lovable. My bro thinks this is, like, the best song out of Millennium (he usually doesn't like bsb). The arrangement is just great, it's a big step ahead for the guys. And the guitar solo... well, it's definately not the backstreet sound, but I love it! The screams of fans kinda look fake, but it's not so bad. Oh, and I just LOVE when they all go ayi-ayi-ayyy.. it's cute!

Fav part : Intro. AJ's devilish laugh. Muahahahaha Has GOT to go : the sampling of "I wanna be with you" ...okay, I know most american fans don't know that song, but for those who do, just try singing "yeah, see you once again, yeah, everybody swing" instead of "yeah, every time we're down, yeah, you can make it right.."... it's the same thing Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: Everybody (Backstreet's Back)

2. I want it that way *** (/4) It's a great song, although not one of the bests in my opinion. But the guitar is beautiful, and I really like AJ's part (yes i knooow, it's too-oohoo late...). I also think it's the only song off Millennium we can really relate to the previous album. I lik e it when Nick goes "Don't wanna hear you sayyyyyyyy yeah-eah yeah eh eh yeah...", and the "You are, you are, you are... " somehow reminds me of *N Sync... but it's better. Oh yeah. And this songs cuts weirdly at the ends. I mean, it's like going mid-tempo and suddenly, it's like awfully slow.. okay anyway

Fav part : AJ yelling in the background ("No matter the distance...") Has GOT to go : The lyrics. They just make no sense. Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: All I have to give

3. Show me the meaning of being lonely **** (/4) This is a real tear-jerker. The lyrics are fabulous, Kev's part (and voice) is just beautiful. I also LOVE the vocal arrangements. Oh, and have you noticed, when Nick sings his part (guilty roads to an endless love...) how much he sounds just like kevin?

Fav part : "How can it be you're asking me to feel the things you never shoooooow oooo-oh ooohhh oh-ooo-oh-ooo-oh..." Has GOT to go : The ending. It's just plain ugly. Well it kinda grew on me since the first time I heard it, but come on... " there's something missing in my ... BOOM BOOM .. heeaaaart" Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: 10,000 promises

4. It's gotta be you **** (/4) Go Nicky! "Bab-ay, it's the way you make m-ay, kinda get me go craz-ay never wanna stop!", and the "uh huh, uh huh" is just great :) I love the chorus... My bro pointed something out tho. You know when they go "It's only you..", well, it's the exact same chords as the end of "I wanna be with you" (try singing it.. it works!) Anyway, it's a VERY good song!

Fav part : when brian goes "'coz of you... yeaaaaahh [boom boom, boom boom] Has GOT to go : These was absolutely NO NEED for sampling "Everybody" (the ooh ooh's) Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: If you want it to be good girl (get yourself a bad boy)

5. I need you tonight *** (/4) It's a very beautiful song, but having heard "Heaven in your eyes" before, I can't help but feel like's something missing. It just has half the effect it had live, like, Nick doesn't seem so into it. The "aaahs" and "ooohs" during the chorus sound kinda weird to me. But the guitar gives a different feel, and I like it. Oh... and Nick's voice at the end. It's beautiful. I just still can't believe he sings that, it so unds so different from.. what he usually sounds like. And the piano, as always, is just plain gorgeous.

Fav part : When he goes "Whoooh-oh-oh-oooooooh" when changing key... Has GOT to go : the stupid "'coz I really need you tonight".. I'm sorry but "I see heaven in your eyes..." was sooooo much better. I'm pissed at Mutt Lange for that. :P Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: That's what she said

6. Don't want you back **** (/4) Wow. I LOVE that song. It's like, really off the track from what they've done before. Nick's voice sounds like.. distorted. I find it funny how he always seems to end up with the "sexual" lines.. :) One thing tho.. Am I the only one who thinks the chorus do esn't fit with the rest?? Anyway, it's still very good. Okay. There's a few more things I think sound just great in the arrangement. Like when AJ goes "but how you fooled me" with howie hitting those really high notes... love it. And sampling "everybody" wa s a great idea (the only place I approve the sampling, btw..). And the ooohs and aaaahs during the verses sound just great. Or when AJ whispers "that's right" ... *smack*. Okay I could go on forever on this song but anyway... I really can't wait to hear tha t song sung live. 'Coz I mean, it's ALL computer-made or smth (just take a look at the credits. No musician, no nothin'. Only Max!), and I really wanna see how the band managed to make a live version that is similar to this. Also, on a side note, could anybody tell me why do ALL their up-tempo songs HAVE to have that slow part near the end?? I'm just gettin' tired of these...

Fav part : The beat. I like it how they based a whole beat on the bass guitar. 'coz there ain't much drum in that beat... Has GOT to go : The first lyrics. It's soooooo cheesy! ooooh, jaws, I'm scared (j/k) Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: Hey, Mr. DJ

7. Don't wanna lose you now **** (/4) Hell, that song is AWESOME. Two thumbs up for Max, once again. Nick, I LOVE your voice in that one! What happened to the Nick I knew? You just keep gettin' better and better... hehe :) (side note : anybody, like me, loves the way he pronounces his 'l's?? I dunno.. they sound... wet. And it's damn sexy !!) okay, hmm... besides, I like it when the, um, beat come on (Brian's part). And when AJ goes "that I was stronger than youu-ooooohh".. it's just wonderful, with "Don't wanna lose to loneliness, don't wanna lose to emptiness" coming on...

Fav Part : Don't ask me why, but when AJ says "And I" during the 1st verse... I get chills all over ..:) Has GOT to go : uuuuh. Nothin. that song is PERFECT! Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: As long as you love me

8. The One *** (/4) Um.. anyone noticed how the beat during the 1st verse (with the bass guitar) sounds exactly like *N Sync's "Tearin' up my heart" .. that's the first thing that went through my mind when listening to it... Somehow, this song always makes me feel happy. The lyrics are kinda cheesy and all, but it's like, so joyful. And I was really surprised when I heard that timpani rolling (after Brian says "just take my hand, baby please...")'coz I've NEVER heard timpani in a song like that before. Only in my school orchestra. And I think it sounds good!

Fav part : "I'll be tha one, I'll be tha light, where you can run..." it sounds so good, with the guitar behind... Has GOT to go : The guitar strummin' at the very beginning. Both my brother and I thought we were like in a Zorro movie or smth. Totally innapropriate. Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: That's the way I like it

9. Back to your heart **** (/4) Okay. I've got a confession to make. I cried when I heard the 1st lines. AJ's voice's never been so beautiful, from what I can remember. Nick's too is great in that song. But the song in general wasn't just as good as I expected it to be when I heard those first few lines. I dunno why. But it remains one of the bests of this album. I just feel like there's something missing... weird.

Fav part : "I turn back time, to make you mine, and find a way back to your heart. I beg and plead, fall to my knees, to find a way back to your heart" Has GOT to go : Well, there's nothing that's SO bad in the song. But anybody noticed how Brian's voice just comes out of the bunch for his solo? like, there's more echo in his voice, and it's kinda louder. I dunno, it really bugs me. Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: Anywhere for you

10. Spanish eyes ** (/4) Don't get me wrong. This is a really good song. But there are still things I think sound... wrong. Like in the chorus, "And it comes from deep within, and it's telling me.."sorry, but that sounds... strange. But howie's voice is great. And I like what the song is about.. or what I feel is about.. like, inter-racial love... it's cute. Nick, good job with the singing on that one (notice the 'l's once again). Though one note makes me cringe every time.. when he says "when I look into your spanish eyes" I dunno.. it sounds off key. Well, it's certainly not the same note Howie did at that same place (in his verse), which sounded good.. Oh yeah, anyone gets the feeling the song is over right before AJ's solo?? it sounds exactly like the end!

Fav part : AJ's solo Has GOT to go : The ending. it's just so... I dunno. It doesn't sound good... Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: Set adrift on memory bliss

11. No one else comes close *** (/4) It's a very good song... but that one sounds a little too much like boyzIImen. Though it kinda reminds me of AJ everytime I hear it. It's sooo... him. And Nick, well, he doesn't have the boyzIImen-like voice he'd need to sing that song ('specially when he goes "ey-eyes"). But he sounds good anyway.

Fav part :"Damn, I love you"... it's cute:) Has GOT to go: ummm.. I dunno, nothin specific. Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: If I don't have you

12. The perfect fan **** (/4) Congrats, Brian. This one's a really good one. My mom's b-day is May 19th... so right when I got my CD, I taped that song and gave it to her as part of her b-day present. She just loved it. Anyway. I still can't figure out why Nick doesn't sing solo on that one. I think it's rude (like, for his mom). Well, maybe he was sick or smth the day they recorded it, but still, it's a song about their MOMS! he could at least have said "mom you always were...". Besides that, it all sounds very good. I love the choir, it's beautiful... Oh and here too, I was kinda surprised, 'coz there's like a clarinet solo line, which isn't an instrument we hear very often....

Fav part: hmmm probably the piano part... it's very nice Has GOT to go: The drums at the end -> "the perfect faaaan... [BODOUM]... I dunno, it ruins the mood. plus, they,re not like, exactly together, so it sounds weird. Backstreet's Back (the canadian album) equivalent: Like a child

Okay, so as you probably all noticed, there are some things that bother me on Millennium, but much more GOOD things... so that's why I'll give it , um, ***½ (/4), 'coz it's not perfect...
