Date: Jul 11, 2099 "Jam on 'cause Backstreet's still got it!" is the phrase that pops into my head when I hear the word millennium in reference to the Backstreet Boys' newest album. Millennium certainly proves that the Boys are not just a "flash-in-the-pan" as many claimed they would be; that they can actually sing and have more than a good chance at longevity in the pop music business. The Florida-based Boys have once again shut the mouths of many of the doubters with their newest addition to the BSB repertoire. The songs on Millennium are well-versed, excellently harmonized, and beautifully expressed. They up-tempo numbers such as Larger Than Life are full of infectious rhythms and thumping beats to get your feet tapping. The ballads like Back To Your Heart and No One Else Comes Close are stirring and able to bring tears to the eyes of the eldest fan out there. The personal touch that the Boys lent to this album makes it even more special, both to the fans and to the Backstreet Boys themselves. Kevin Richardson's Back To Your Heart is probably tied with Brian Littrell's The Perfect Fan for being the most beautiful song on the album. They both are well-written and completely touching, with heart-warming words and full, close harmonies. It's also a very pleasant thing to hear all of the Boys sing solo parts on this album. We, the fans, also have to give a very big thank-you back to the Boys for the first track on the album Larger Than Life which is dedicated to, you guessed it, us! The fans! Thank you, Boys! It's a wonderful feeling to know that you appreciate and love us, too! All in all, Millennium is a very impressive album! The Boys have grown in their craft, improving tone and achieving an even fuller and warmer harmony. They have expanded into writing more of their now material, a skill which will prove very useful and rewarding in years to come! So, I guess that all that's left to say is, "Backstreet's definitely back, alright! Melissa Gibson - The Cayman Islands
