Frankfurt/Main (dpa)- The Backstreet Boys have energetically dismissed rumors about breaking up. Before the performance that started their Germany Tour on Friday in Frankfurt, Nick Carter said, "Such rumors existed a year ago. And here we still are- together."

The five teen- idols Howard Dorough, A.J. McLean, Kevin Richardson, Bryan Littrell (the author's mistake) and Nick Carter - perform their new record "Millennium" on Tour.

Hysterical fans and screaming teens, wherever they publicly appear - that is something that Kevin still cannot understand. All the things that may be, it is no problem for the group, declares Nick. "It is much more of a present." says Kevin. He has not never really gotten used to the hustle and bustle, but he has learned to go along with it.

They are not really happy with the label of "boy group." "We are singers," stresses Kevin. With their new record "Millennium" they considerably further developed themselves. "We would like to win over some older fans along with the younger ones." Fear that they will sometime be too old for the teen fans the smart black haired one does not have. Many fans from when we just started over six years ago are still loyal," he says. The many awards that the Backstreet Boys have earned, do not mean much to them, reveals Kevin. They are however very proud of their Grammy nomination. "And the greatest award that we have ever received is the love of our fans."
