Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin Take Home Blockbuster Awards

CDNOW Submitted By: Pinaysista@aol.com The Backstreet Boys led all musicians with two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards each on Tuesday (May 25) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The million-selling boy band, whose new album, Millennium, just broke the SoundScan first-week sales record previously held by Garth Brooks (allstar, May 26), won for Favorite Group, Pop and Favorite CD (Backstreet Boys). After that, it was anybody's ballgame. Mariah Carey won for Favorite Female Artist, Pop, Will Smith snagged the Favorite Artist, Rap award, Matchbox 20 won for Favorite Group, Modern Rock, DMX and Lauryn Hill took home awards for Favorite New Artist, Male and Female, respectively, Backstreet Boys rivals 'NSync walked away with the award for Favorite New Artist, Group, U2 won for Favorite Artist or Group, Rock, and the Beastie Boys won the Favorite Group, Rap award. The Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, which also includes awards for movies, will air on June 16 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
