Me, my little sister Carrie, and my friend Janet, met the Backstreet Boys after their concert at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York. I've only just calmed down, so I can tell you all about the BEST day of my life!

My dad's friend's brother (pretty complicated, huh?) works at the New Amsterdam Theatre. He's the head of security. That also made him my new best friend.

Living in New York City, me, Janet, and Carrie (who LOVES Aaron Carter), have been at Times Square many times staring up at the back of celebrity heads. We were there for the Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin, Geri Halliwell, Ryan Phillippe (AHH!), and 98 Degrees. However, we were never lucky enough to be able to go up to the studios and MEET the celebrities! Therefore, I saw my connection as my golden opportunity and jumped at it.

Carrie and I begged and pleaded and cried and begged and pleaded and cried and begged and... ok, you get my point. After a lot of exaggerated screams, my dad finally agrees to ask his friend to do us the favor of getting us backstage. To make a long story short, he agreed.

Unfortunately, he couldn't get us to the front part of the stadium. We were somewhere around the middle back, but we could still see and hear the Backstreet Boys fine. The songs were GREAT! They performed hits from their first album and some songs from the new one, including "I Want It That Way," "The Perfect Fan," and "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely." They did awesome! I noticed something though. When Brian (my fave) sings, he kicks his left leg a lot. It's not a huge Sporty-spice kick, but a little swing. WEIRD observation, I know. I know Carrie will kill me for this, but she cried when they sang "Show Me The Meaning." Me and Janet will make fun of her for the rest of her life!

Anyway, after the show, we hunted down my dad's friend to take us backstage. He said that he will, just as long as we agree to behave (Austin Powers, anyone?). We promised we will, and we did.

I've always wondered what backstage looked like, but it was very different than I imagined! They had a pretty large room, where there were some tables with drinks and some chairs. Nobody sat and only some adults helped themselves to the drinks. The rest of us were too excited.

We waited about twenty/thirty minutes when the Boys finally appeared. Brian, Nick, Kevin, Howie, and AJ (along with about three bodyguards) walked into the room. NOBODY SCREAMED. Can you believe this? I think everybody was so shocked that they forgot to breath or something, but nobody screamed shrilly. There were a lot of "omigod" and "i can't believe this," but no ear-splitting screams.

The Backstreet Boys were so nice! They signed my CD, Carrie's T-shirt, and Janet's CD. It was so cute- Carrie said to Nick, "Can you tell Aaron that Carrie Mitchell loves him?" Nick laughed and promised her that he will. Howie, Nick, Brian, and Kevin was wearing suits. AJ, always wanting to be different, wore a tank top with cargoes. I couldn't believe how many tattoos he had! I asked him if he planned on getting more, and he said, "definately."

I was surprisingly calm. I didn't freak out or pass out like I thought I would. They were all so nice! Many fans asked them questions, and they would give them straight answers. One girl asked them if they liked N Sync, and they basically said that they thought they were talented (ok, so maybe they didn't give honest answers to EVERYTHING).

About halfway, four girls entered the room. One of them was Leigh Anne, one of them was a pretty Chinese girl, and I think the other two were Nick's sisters. They didn't join the Boys. Instead, they sort of hung at the back of the room watching everything. A fan asked Brian if he was going out with Leigh Anne (she called her "that blonde girl over there") and he said yes. Janet turned to the Chinese girl and asked, "Are you going out with one of the Boys?" and she answered, "Yup, Nick." Later, Janet told me she was really jealous. Now she knows how I feel about Leigh Anne.

Anyway, back to the Boys. They signed autographs, posed for pictures, and answered questions. Janet, Carrie, and I took some pictures with Brian and Howie (which was enlarged and is not hanging on my wall). A girl started crying, and AJ hugged her and told her that they're human. Awwww....

Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. My dad's friend as well as the other security guards "escorted" everyone out (which is just a nice word for kicking everyone out so the Boys can rest). The Boys hugged a lot of the fans (I hugged Brian and Carrie hugged Nick) before we left.

It was THE best day of my life! They were so nice, funny, and sweet! Carrie is still talking about how she told Nick to tell Aaron that she loves him. I think she's expecting a marriage proposal in the mail! LOL!

That's it. That's how my perfect day ended. The Backstreet Boys are not only great performers, but they're great people too!
