On Saturday night, millions of Backstreet fans in the United States stayed up late to watch their favorite fivesome on Saturday Night Live. I wasn't one of them, because I was there.

Thanks to my uncle's network friends and lots of luck, I scored a pair of tickets to the set of Saturday Night Live to watch the Boys and Sarah Michelle Gellar live. I took my sister, who had a driver's license and loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer. After many, many, many wrong exits and threatening to turn back, my sister was finally able to park her car in a parking space at the studio. The building looked a lot like an indoor concert arena, but with lots of satellites on the roof.

I'll make this review short and sweet, since I know many of you don't care about other acts. Before I get to the Backstreet Boys' performance, I just have to say something. The nature scene (aka the sexual one) was hilarious!! Before, I didn't have much respect for Sarah Michelle Gellar, but after SNL, I find her sense of humor very cool. Ok, I'll get to the point: The Backstreet Boys.

Well, it was nothing like going to a concert. There wasn't as much energy- it was more formal and quiet- and there definitely wasn't a lot of screaming fans! In fact, I don't know if there was more than ten Backstreet fans in the audience. Anyway, since I'm sure many of you watched SNL, I don't have to tell you that they performed "I Want It That Way" and "All I Have to Give." Even though the guys looked great, they weren't their usual awesome selves with the singing. I won't complain though.

Kevin… I have to dedicate a whole paragraph to him. It was hard to control myself when the Boys appeared, but when he sang… oh, man, I was clenching my fists like crazy! He really should have more solo parts. He sounded awesome! Of course, like always, he looked gorgeous.

After the show went off-air, the audience was allowed to converse with the cast members for a few minutes before they go to the after-party. Everybody rushed out from backstage, and I ran down to the stage (pulling my sister, who was nervous about meeting Sarah M.G.). I MET THE BACKSTREET BOYS! I was so nervous about approaching them, but they already had a small crowd around them (mostly 14- 17 year olds, like me). I somehow managed to push myself through, and my body literally was shoved against AJ when somebody pushed me.

I know you've heard this many time, but they were so nice! I shook hands with them, and they were kind enough to sign my CD. At one point, I was so nervous that I didn't know what else to do but laugh like an idiot. Howie put his hands on my shoulder (I vowed to myself I would never wash that shirt!) and said, "Are you nervous?" I nodded, looking kinda shocked, and he said, "It's ok. Why are you nervous? We should be the ones freaking out here!" Kevin was a real sweetie, and I remembered the exact words he said to me. "It's nice to meet you. How'd you like the show?" I stammered, but basically I said it was awesome. He smiled (oh, god... I practically fainted) and said, "I'm glad you liked it. Thank you very much for coming." Ok, so it wasn't exactly a marriage proposal, but there was a lot of people they had to greet.

After about five minutes of standing there like an idiot gawking while the Boys talk to other people, my sister pulled me to meet Sarah, who was also surrounded by her fans. She, too, was really nice. My sister got her Buffy trading card signed (trading card? Don't ask). You'd think a 22-year-old would be more mature, huh?

Anyway, fifteen minutes passed and the studio audience had to leave. Some people got to stay because they had invitation to the after-party, but I had no idea how to get them! To be honest, I was surprised at how much the Boys resemble their TV appearance and personality. They were so sweet! Also, I never realized how tall Kevin and Nick were. Nick seemed to have lost a few pounds.

Overall, it was one of the best nights of my life. It wasn't as intimate as I thought, but it's probably the closest I'll get to the BSB! Thanks for letting me share my Backstreet experience with the rest of the fans!
