Hi everyone, this is an interview BSB did here in the UK on Radio 1. It was pre-recorded and the DJ played it after talking a bit with the woman that got to meet BSB and interview AJ. After the interview finishes, the DJ and woman start talking about BSB, in particular why they were late, she quickly talks about Nick, Brian, Kevin and security. I didn't include that, but if you wanna know what she said email me, and I'll send you a copy :o) Be warned she was being a bit too HONEST, lol!! The stuff about security was funny though.

Note: If you don't wanna know about the tour, cos you wanna be surprised, then don't read this! :o)

DJ: Some people that are planing a tour are the Backstreet Boys. They're actually gonna be doing a tour next year and Briggy? (sorry didn't catch her name) managed to catch up with them and get some information on next year's tour , err also about their forthcoming album and life in a boyband...

Female:(interrupts) Oh no, you don't say boyband, I learnt THAT. (jokingly) MAN band.

Both laugh Female: I know.....

DJ:(in an old male voice, like someone speaks if they've got no teeth) man band, man band...

Female:(laughing) Oh no, they nearly snapped me head off when I said that{i.e. when she called them a boyband} and also I had to wait the longest I have EVER had to wait for any artist, five hours....

DJ: you're joking...

Female: Which is like a whole days work

DJ: (teasing) did you not make an appointment? Did you just turn up there... (laughs)

Female: I turned up at 12 as appointed and I was supposed to be speaking to them between 12 and 2. And they turned up at ten to two. And they were doing various tv performances and I didn't get to speak to them until 5o'clock. Then I only got ONE, this was AJ. And he told me that they were nervous about their new album "Black & Blue" because there are so many LAD bands, (laughs) I'll just say lad bands now, not boyband, there's so many lad bands around now that they weren't sure that they still had any fans....

AJ: (weird voice, sounds VERY tired, like he's loosing his voice, poor AJ) Just the fact that we've been gone for so long, you know with our brand new album there's still that self intimidation that you're not sure you're gonna BE successful again, or if the fans are into somebody else....

Female: Now I've listened to some of the album and to me it sounds less poppy and a bit more of an RnB feel.....

AJ: I think it's a lot of reflection off of us especially as we did 7 songs, that we actually wrote. The whole album itself definitely shows growth, in us......And now because of the big boyband scene, but we don't consider ourselves to be a boyband, we never have and we never will. We want to look up to groups like BoysIIMen and be called a vocal harmony group. But you now because of the mass boyband following or what not, we're kinda getting swallowed into that again, kinda getting shoved back into the frying-pan of boybands. You know we're trying to do new things. To still have to constantly separate ourselves from that image and that stamp, to be called a boyband, it just limits you, cos none of us are boys, we're all you know, we're all men (very funny, tough voice, *lol*) We're all macho men. So whatever we can do to try and keep on setting trends....we just wanna be trend setters.

Female: I suppose it's quite difficult with your name though isn't it, cos boys is in your name....

AJ: Well I mean Backstreet Boys is just like the Beach Boys, the Pet Shop Boys, you know. It's just a slang term, to be called the Backstreet Boys. We're gonna be 30 and 40 and still be called the Backstreet Boys because we're always gonna be 'boys.' You know, in the US in slang terms, or anywhere else in the world 'boys' are friends, you know, the amigos.

Female: You've got a tour coming up next year how different is it gonna be?

AJ: For one it's not gonna be in the round anymore. Which means the stage will not be in the middle of the crowd anymore. We're going back to the typical end stage. The stage will be about 3 times the size of our last stage. It will be about 225 feet long by about 90 feet wide, or depth wise. It's hard to explain the stage, it's very interesting. It's almost like another world, or like another city or planet. We've worked with guys that have worked with Kiss, an' Bon Jovi. So it's a very elaborate stage, everything on the entire stage moves (lol,i'm 99.9% sure that's what he said!) We're also gonna have a smaller stage out in the middle of the audience. And we are gonna get to use some illusions and things like that, so people will not know how we get there, (laughs slightly) but we're gonna get there! Mostly uptempos to keep the crowd interested, then we'll do the typical intermittent stuff. And we MIGHT play instruments as well again, like we did four tours ago and do like a medley of AIHTG, QPGWMH, ALAYLM with us playing the instruments and sing.

Female: I heard that you might well be doing some stuff with Elton John....

AJ: He definitely wanted to come out and do a couple of spot dates here and there with us, possibly while we are in Atlanta, where he has a house, or we'll possibly do something here in the UK. Or possibly put together a whole mini-acoustic tour, that would be cool. Or we might do an entire show together, or get him to do an hour, or us do an hour, whatever we can do, as long as he does it with us that would be incredible.

Right that's the actual interview over with. I didn't cut anything out of the actual interview, AJ sounded really tired. If you want the full version email me and I'll send it to you.
