Date: Oct 10, 2000 This is the transcript from the October 9th interview with Howie on my station Z104 in Washington D.C. during The Bush League Morning Show with Billy Bush and Janet Elliot. Billy Bush: Hey Howie!!!!! Howie: Hey wuz up buddy? Billy: Howie!!!!!!! Howie: Hey how is it goin? Billy: Wuz it like to be Howie D, I don't know I'm just, are you having a good Howie Day? Howie: This is Howie Do-It ya know!! Billy: This is Howie Do-It!!!! Hahahaha!!!! Janet Elliot: Hahahaha!!! Howie: Ah Nah! That's good, we actually got about 2 and 1/2 hours of sleep last night did some radio this morning and it's not too bad a life it's pretty good! ya know! Billy: Where are you right now? ya going across the bridge into New Jersey or? Howie: Yeah we're in New York City right now promoting the fact that were going on TRL to premire our new single "Shape Of My Heart" the video Billy: We're rolling with it right now! Janet: Yeah! Great song!! Howie: Cool!! very cool! Billy: It's really really good!!! Howie: Cool! ya like it? Billy: Yeah! first single off of "Black and Blue" of course which is coming out November 21st What are you guys, how much promo stuff are you guys doing? What kind of build up schedule do you have? Howie: Right now we're up here in New York doing 2 weeks of promotion, then all international, then next week is all here in America, then after that we have a week off and then we go over to Europe and do some promotion over there and then we come back here and hit America again then on the 21st acually we are going to do a 2 day around the world 6 continent tour... Janet: Oh my god!! Howie: Where we basically promoting the album on the release, we're actually going to Japan the day before It's like they are a day ahead of us, a day ahead so we're able to do the 6 continents and huh... Billy: You..You said 6 continents in 2 days? Howie: Yeah! it's actually 1 day the 21st both places and all the continents just umm so happens that Japan is being a day before umm since of the time difference and everything so we're promoting the album Janet: That is brutal!!!!!! Billy: What do you do? get off the plane, play do a song and get back on? Howie: Yep! I think we're actually doing it in the hangers listening party Janet: Somebody's making you all work very hard!! hehe.. Howie: Haha!! (sings) "We work hard for our money" Billy & Janet: Yeah! Hahaha!! Janet: You could litteraly put the album out just let people know the album's coming out and probarly not do any of this and still sell like a ga-zillion million copys Howie: Yeah! but ya know! It's like letting our fans ya know really feel part of it and ya know us being part of it as well so we don't mind doing this It's cool!! Billy: Howie! I mean.. Janet: Wow!! Howie: Actually some of these ideas were ours like I could say the whole thing with the 6 continents were actually our idea Janet: Ah! Oh my god!!! Billy: Howie! Do you all have a gym on the plane or? Howie: Hehe.. No! Hopefully a big bathroom.... Billy: Yeah! Exactly haha.. Howie: And a shower hopefully and a we'll be all good!! Billy: A man! that sounds pretty cool though!! Hey! that's the way ya gotta do it, the fans yeah the fans want some hype and that's definetly hype!! What are the goals, how many you guys want to sell I mean you know how people love to compare the Nsync and the Backstreet Boys and they did ya know 2.4 million set a huge number in week one with the last album with "No Strings" is beating that record important? Howie: We'll ya know what actually we're not ya know trying to set ourselves up for anything umm ya know were just, this to us is world wide and we have a huge fan base here in America were very fortunite as well as around the world that is why were doing the 6 continent thing here... Billy: Yeah! Howie: Umm.. and just see what happens with it ya know! Billy: What about you and the marriage scene, all the boys are getting married around ya how do ya feel about it? Howie: Shh!! I'm gonna be the last one I think now!! Billy & Janet: Hahahaha!!! Howie: I said 30 but that's coming up here in a couple of years and I'm thinking I'm gonna be 35 Billy & Janet: Hahaha!! Howie: I'm enjoying this thing of life Billy: Did you have fun at the weddings? Howie: Yeah! it was cool! I cried for them the poor guys but it was all good! Hahahaha!! Billy & Janet: Hahahahaha!! Howie: Nah... they both got great wives and their very fortunite Billy: As like Kevin was going down did you give like you can stop right here dude turn around!! Howie: Hahahaha!! Janet: It's not too late!!! hehe.. Howie: Nah! I was actually very pleased I mean Kevin has dated his girlfriend for like 8 years... Billy: Yeah!! Howie: Got a really really great girlfriend, Brian known his for the last 3 years so ya know they both found the right ones for them and I'm very happy for them Billy: Do you have a girlfriend? Howie: Nope!! I'm the single one! Billy: Nice! man!! Janet: Hey! look at that! You've been raising alot of money doing alot of good work to fight Lupus umm on your sister's behalf who you lost a while back how are things going? Howie: It's going really great actually we did a fundraiser in Orlando our hometown umm.. back in June and raised over a hundred thousand dollars had alot of celebrity friends of mine donate stuff everybody from Mariah to Gloria to Sting just ya know lots of people just donate their time or support even Shania Twain as well and I did a little tour I did down in South America in Puerto Rico to raise money for the foundation and in December were doing a Lupus Cruise or a carnaval cruise and they worked with me to on donating all the procedes of about 4 hundred cabins to my foundation that we are gonna be on Billy: Oh!! that's amazing and this is all your sister Caroline who I mean alot of people take up causes but you have really followed through with this one all the way and it is so much a part of you and that everybody who knows the Backstreet Boys and anybody that knows Howie D knows how incredibly important Caroline's cause is to ya it's amazing! Howie: Yeah! I just recently did the Stings save the rainforest umm benifit I love giving back ya know we have been blessed so much I'm all about it Billy: Yeah! Janet: I checked out your website Howie D.com Howie: Ah! yeah! Janet: Stole your mothers recipes!! Howie: Hahahaha!!! thats my family there I want with me it was also a way to get the promotion for the Lupus foundation and I have alot of fans that are very supportive of the whole thing and ya know it makes me happy to see that they support me in ya know my causes that I do Billy: I love it! Janet: That's right!! Billy: We'll hey listen Howie we are gonna let you go! "Shape Of My Heart" ovisoulsy the new single we're rolling it right now and ya know the album "Black & Blue" is November 21st you've heard about and again you'll hear about it a million times these guys are promoting the hell out of it, it is gonna be huge!
