- Date: Dec 11, 2099 December 9, 1999 LAS VEGAS — We all know that artists, be they actor, musician, director, you name it, are often cut off before being able to give their full acceptance speech at any awards show. It's too bad — the energy is in the air, and often they've got a lot to say. Which is why, afterward, they're often taken backstage to the press room, where the can speak their minds about anything they want to a bunch of scribes taking notes. Here's what some of the participants in the 1999 Billboard Awards had to say once they left the stage. Blink-182 "They thanked us?" The punk trio had just been informed that the Backstreet Boys had given them kudos for the video for "All the Small Things," which mocks the Orlando quintet. "Wow. Well, I guess we're friends now, then. Seriously, though, we come from different places, but we truly believe there's room for all different kinds of music.
