If the results of the MTV Europe Awards are any indication, the appetite for teen-pop is as strong across the drink as it is here. Britney Spears dominated the ceremony, taking home a whopping four trophies: she won honors for Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist, Breakthrough Artist and Best Song for "Baby One More Time."

Meanwhile, Ricky Martin, Madonna and TLC, each of whom bagged at least one Moonman in the stateside Video Music Awards back in September, all went home empty handed.

The show featured performances by Spears, as well as Marilyn Manson, Whitney Houston, Jamiroquai, the Coors, the Cardigans, and Iggy Pop, who opened the show.

The ceremony, hosted by Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating, also featured the presentation of the "Free Your Mind" Award to U2 singer Bono. The award was in recognition of Bono's championing of numerous causes during the course of his career, most recently his efforts to cancel third world debt.

United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan paid tribute to the singer via a prerecorded tribute, in which he thanked Bono for "making a real difference," saying that the singer has "taught young people that they have the power to change the world."

Mick Jagger, who introduced Bono, quipped that "His efforts for the poor have now tarred him with the brush of virtual sainthood."

In accepting the award, Bono remarked that this type of praise was "just going to make me worse, you know."

Here's the complete tally of who won what at the ceremony:
