Backstreet Boys and Korn were multiple winners Thursday in the inaugural ARTISTdirect Online Music Awards at the House of Blues in West Hollywood. Backstreet Boys were named favorite pop group and won the award for the best pop fan site, while Korn took home the Pioneer Artist on the Internet trophy as well as best rock fan site. The ARTISTdirect Online Music Awards, voted on by fans, recognize artists, bands and Web sites. ARTISTdirect is a leading online music company that provides music entertainment through the ARTISTdirect Network of Web sites offering multimedia content, music news and music-related commerce. The company also operates ARTISTdirect Talent Agency and manages Kneeling Elephant Records. Madonna was named favorite female artist, Ricky Martin favorite male artist and Sugar Ray favorite rock artist. Other winners included the Offspring, Eminem, Limp Bizkit, the Beatles, the Chemical Brothers, the Beastie Boys and Nine Inch Nails. The show, hosted by comedy duo Tenacious D, featured scheduled performances by Chris Isaak, Cypress Hill, No Doubt and the Offspring. Presenters were to include Metallica, Dwight Yoakam, Daryl Hannah, Dave Navarro and Traci Lords.
