Date: Jan 31, 2006 Going national Brian Littrell's Healthy Heart Club for Kids recently agreed to extend its surgical assistance fund to the national level. While many families have insurance for their child's surgery and hospitalization, the costs of travel, lodging, meals and other expenses are not covered. The fund is designed to contribute toward those expenses. Lexington native Littrell, of Backstreet Boys fame, was born with a small hole between the left and right sides of his heart and had his first heart surgery when he was 5. Many years later Littrell underwent more heart surgery, so he knows firsthand the stress medical expenses put on a family. The Healthy Heart Club also offers an eight-week program for children with heart problems that includes education, and nutrition and exercise counseling. For more information, call club director Brandon Edgington at (859) 299-2285. Offices are in Suite F at 216 East Reynolds Road.
