Date: Sep 07, 2004 Backstreet Boys Seeking New Bodyguard - Via Reality TV The Boys are back in town - and they're about to tackle reality TV. As the Backstreet Boys prepare to kick off a comeback tour this fall, the group is also looking for a new bodyguard. The Boys hope to find one by way of a new reality show called - what else? "Bodyguard," according to Variety. The "American Idol"-like competition will whittle down a group of contestants until one man or woman is left standing as the Boys' protector. The new reality series is being developed by the Boys' management team, Wright-Crear Management, and will be produced by Jonathan Taylor, creator of MTV's "The Osbournes." Although the Boys will make occasional appearances on camera, their role on the show will be secondary. However, "Bodyguard" will be used as launching pad to promote the group's return to the pop scene after a three-year hiatus. The final episode of the show will follow the winner's first day on the job as the group's arena tour kicks off. Plans call for the show to be pitched to the networks later this month. The Boys have already returned to the studio with producer Max Martin, who also helped fuel the careers of Britney Spears and 'NSYNC (see "What Year Is It? Backstreet Boys Planning World Tour, Working With Max Martin"). Collaborations with Boyz II Men and Take 6 are also in the works. The first single from the new album is expected to be released later in the year. - Brandee J. Tecson
