Date: Aug 12, 2003 By Andrew Gans 29 Jul 2003 Kevin Richardson, who made his Broadway debut earlier this year in the Broadway production of Chicago, will join the London production of that musical in the fall. A spokesperson for the New York production of the Kander and Ebb musical confirmed that Richardson — of "Backstreet Boys" fame — will reprise his role of Billy Flynn at West End's Adelphi Theatre in September. No start date has been announced. Richardson will also play the role of slick lawyer Flynn during the musical's upcoming engagement at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre. Richardson will replace current Flynn, Gregory Harrison, for three weeks while the show plays the Golden Gate Aug. 5-24. Richardson joins a touring company that includes Bianca Marroquin as Roxie Hart, Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Marcia Lewis Bryan as Matron "Mama" Morton, Ray Bokhour as Amos Hart and R. Bean as Mary Sunshine. As the smooth-talking lawyer who represents merry murderesses Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, Richardson will sing such Kander and Ebb tunes as "All I Care About," "We Both Reached for the Gun" and "Razzle Dazzle." Chicago, also playing Broadway's Ambassador Theatre, won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
