Former Backstreet Boy Nick Carter has landed a film role in a new Hollywood movie for director Rick Thompson.

He will co-star with Isaiah Washington and Keith David in Blood On A Happy Face, set to begin shooting in Manhattan and Brooklyn. on August 1.

The project is described as a quick-paced action-drama in the vein of Reservoir Dogs - and centres on an undercover agent, played by Washington, who gets caught up in the underbelly of Brooklyn.

His world is turned upside down when the woman he loves double-crosses him as part of an elaborate scheme to steal a large sum of money. It's then up to him to save his own life.

Carter plays the role of Fazio, the catalyst for the crooked scheme, while David plays a detective with a gambling problem who winds up working for a Russian mobster.
