Howie Dorough, one of the members of the group Backstreet Boys, is about to begin recording his first solo record.

The young singer is following in the steps of Nick Carter, the first of Backstreet to develop an independant career from the famous group.

Howie's record, (he is of Irish and Puertorican origin), will include songs in English and in Spanish.

''It will have a latin influence'', said the singer to Billboard magazine, ''but more than anything else, it will have an international sound.'' -he emphasized

Dorough also added that the project would be jointly financed by Jive and BMG Latin record companies
