Date: Aug 28, 2002 John Edward, the TV psychic, will hold his daily readings on a larger set in Queens this fall, but New Yorkers will have to stay up late to watch him.
Starting Sept. 16, WCBS/Ch. 2 will shift the syndicated series "Crossing Over With John Edward" from its weekday lineup at 3 p.m. to weeknights at 1:30a.m.
The changes go into effect Sept. 3, when "Crossing Over" opens its second syndicated season with Universal TV.
In addition to a new location, producers have restructured the set to mimic more closely the look of a traditional daytime talk show, with sofas placed on stage to enable Edward to engage in face-to-face conversations with guests he pulls from the audience.
In addition, the series will feature more of Edward's readings with celebrities, including Jenny McCarthy, rapper Coolio and Backstreet Boys members A.J. McLean and Brian Littrell.
Meanwhile, "Crossing Over" will continue to run on cable's Sci-Fi Channel, with back-to-back half-hour episodes (11p.m. to midnight) Sunday through Thursday nights.
However, original episodes this season will first air in syndication, followed by Sci-Fi, reversing the show's schedule of last season.
This fall, Ch. 2 also has reserved a weeknight overnight slot for the syndicated game show "The Weakest Link," which will move from weekdays at 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 16.
On that day, Ch. 2 will unveil a new daytime lineup that will include talk from "Oprah" show regular Dr. Phil McGraw at 3p.m. and the syndicated version of ABC's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" at 4 p.m. weekdays.
