The Backstreet Boys are making an unusual stop on their next world tour: Elwood City, home of Arthur, PBS' famous animated aardvark.

The Boys - Kevin, A.J., Howie, Brian and Nick - will guest star as animated versions of themselves in the back-to-school, prime-time special "Arthur: It's Only Rock 'n' Roll," airing locally at 8 p.m. Sept. 1.

For the special, the group will perform two original songs as well as the Arthur theme song.

Starting Aug. 19, the Arthur Web site (pbskids.org/arthur/backstreet/) will have several Backstreet Boys features including music video clips, coloring pages and song lyrics. The show is being produced for PBS by WGBH in Boston.
