- Date: Jul 12, 2001 BACKSTREET BOYS PLAY AT CAMPBELL FIELD BEFORE A.J. McLean went into rehab and stopped the tour, three of his Backstreet Boys bandmates celebrated July 4th in an All-American Way - by playing softball at Campbell Field in Camden. On the field were Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. Joining them were reggae/rapster Shaggy, who opened for them the night before at the Tweeter Center, dancers and crew members. It was a serious game, with uniforms and a score being kept. They arrived about 5 p.m. and played until the rain came in 'round midnight. How'd this come about? The BSB road crew contacted the Riversharks and said they wanted to rent the field. (You can, too: It's $2,500 for a game.) The BSB also wanted an all-you-can-eat barbecue, which lists for $30 a person and includes soft drinks and beer.
