Date: Mar 26, 2001 Were you popular with the girls at school? The girls didn't fancy me. I wasn't popular like the guys who did sports. I dreamt of having a pretty girlfriend and I had a crush on a few girls, but they were only interested in the cool guys! Who was the first girl you kissed? She was called Bryn and we were in the school play together. We were both about 8 years old. Ok, discuss an embarrassing dating disaster I met a girl in church who I ended up really liking. One day I waited for her after school as a surprise. When I turned up she was holding hands with a guy and I cried all the way home. Is being dumped worse than having to dump someone? Being dumped is horrible. If you really like a girl and she goes, then that's the worst So where would you go on the perfect date? To the beach at night. There would be a full moon with a bunch of stars out. The ocen would be calm with the moon light shining off the water. And the sand would be pure, white, beautiful and soft Are you a big softie when it comes to girls? Yep, I guess you could say that! My mum taught me to treat people right. I think I'm really considerate How sexy do you think you are? I can see photos of myself and think wow, that looks good or oh no, I look terrible! It depends. On what, exactly? Well, pictures can make you look better than you are. Like if you have a zit, they can cover it up, ha-ha! What do you think is the best part of your body? I guess it's probably my hair because of the colour Do you ever get fed up with being 'the cute one' in the band? No way! I love the attention! What's it really like being adored by millions? It feels weird that girls put me up on a pedestal and I can't figure out why they like me the way they do! Does that side of fame ever scare you? I remember running into a hotel with this girl literally hanging from my neck. She had me in a half-nelson Randy, our bodyguard, prised her off me. Looking back it was quite funny, but at the time it was scary! So would you ever date a fan? Yes and no. Sometimes you run into a fan who's really cool, but mostly you meet people who are in the business. I dated a fan a long time ago but that was in the beginning. Is it hard to have girlfriends when you're on the road so much? It's a big responsibility. You know, always having to call - especially when you're trying to concentrate on the group and the music. Relationships are beautiful, but sometimes they cause a lot of stress. So then, Nick, what would your perfect woman be like? My ideal girl is not some gorgeous pin-up model. First I look for a girl who has a good heart before I care how they look. And she'd definitely have to be understanding as well. So you're not interested in her looks at all? I'm not just trying to be nice and diplomatic. I do know what is more important. The only thing tha matters is what's on the inside and I strongly believe you should never judge people just by how they look. Does your mum's approval about your relationships matter to you? I trust my family's opinions on how they feel about certain people. If I met someone I really liked, but they said they thought she wasn't right, I would listen to them. Do you think one day you'll give your mum some grandkids? Definitely, but not for ages. Backstreet is the priority right now. There's so much we still want to do But do you reckon you'll be the last BSB to get married? I'm the youngest but it doesn't mean I'll be last! You never know, I might meet someone gorgeous tomorrow, fall madly in love and elope!
