NEW YORK--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2000--America's biggest-selling multi-artist album series NOW That's What I Call Music! unleashes its latest collection, NOW That's What I Call Music! 5, featuring nineteen current and recent chart hits spanning pop, R&B and rock.

To be released November 14, 2000, NOW That's What I Call Music! 5, featuring top hits from smash artists including *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Sisqo and Destiny's Child among others, is a cooperative project of Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, The EMI Group and the Zomba Group Of Labels. Both NOW 5 and NOW 6 will be distributed by Sony Music. NOW 2 and NOW 3 have both been certified double platinum and NOW 1 racked up retail sales of nearly 2 million. NOW 4 startled music fans and industry observers alike when its first week sales landed it at No. 1 on Billboard's "200" top-selling albums sales chart, the first time a compilation achieved this awesome feat. Since then, NOW 4 has gone on to sell some 2 million, achieving double platinum status as well. All four albums have achieved Billboard Top 10 status.

NOW 5 features nineteen recent Billboard "Hot 100" pop singles chart hits, including the No. 1s: *NSYNC's "It's Gonna Be Me." Janet's "Doesn't Really Matter," and "Incomplete" by Sisqo. The other Top 10s are "Jumpin Jumpin" by Destiny's Child, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Nocfe)" by 98 Degrees, "Kryptonite" by 3 Doors Down, "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" by Backstreet Boys and Nine Days' "Absolutely (Story Of A Girl)."

Five other selections are Top 20: Mystikal's "Shake It Fast," "I Wanna Be With You" by Mandy Moore, Mya's "Case Of The Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)," BBMak's "Back Here" and "Wonderful" by Everclear. The remaining tracks are the Top 40 "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)" by Aaron Carter, Britney Spears' "Lucky," soulDecision's hit "Faded," Bon Jovi's "It's My Life," "Don't Think I'm Not" by Kandi and Jessica Simpson's "I Think I'm In Love With You."

The NOW series debuted in the United States in 1998 after the NOW brand had become an enormous multi-platinum international success for 20 years with more than 50 volumes internationally. To date, the NOW series has generated sales of more than 70 million albums around the globe. In the U.S. NOW 1 (October 20, 1998), NOW 2 (July 27, 1999), NOW 3 (December 7, 1999) and NOW 4 (July 19,2000) have scanned close to eight million copies sold.

NOW, with a new edition released approximately every six months, is more than simply a hits compilation. NOW introduces listeners to music they may not have typically sought out and exposes its artists to a wider buying audience. According to consumer research, more than 50% of those who purchase a NOW album will subsequently purchase an album by one of the participating artists.
