Backstreet Boys Sign Game Boys For Charity

Date: Oct 10, 2000 Source: MTV Submitted By: Katja Before dropping by MTV's Times Square studios to appear on Monday's installment of "Total Request Live," the Backstreet Boys autographed four Nintendo Game Boy units to be auctioned off for charity. The BSB-enhanced items, each part of the Game Boy Color line, are being offered up as part of a national online children's charity auction which kicked off on Saturday and runs until October 20. The collector's items are featured as part of the Interactive Digital Software Association's third annual fund-raiser "Nite To Unite For Kids," which is sponsored by Amazon.com to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. "We love helping worthwhile charities, but it's beyond good when you can have so much fun doing it," Backstreet's Nick Carter said in a statement announcing the event. In addition to picking up his or her signed Game Boy, each winning bidder will also receive an autographed photo of the group. In other BSB news, the video for the group's next single, "Shape Of My Heart," will premiere on Monday during MTV's "Making The Video" at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The artsy clip, which features no narrative story line, was shot at Los Angeles' Orpheum Theater in late September by photographer-director Matthew Rolston, who has helmed videos for TLC, Marilyn Manson, Lucy Pearl, and Natalie Imbruglia.
