Date: Aug 29, 2000 The producers at Cheiron, the Stockholm-based production company which created the internationally revered sound of Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and 'N Sync, will close their 8-year-old operation by the end of December, just as their 3-year-old production and publishing joint venture with the Zomba Group expires. The company was founded by producer Denniz PoP, who died of cancer two years ago. It is home to 10 in-house producers, including Max Martin, who will continue to work together, sources tell Billboard Bulletin, although the studios will move from Zomba's Stockholm offices. Tom Talomaa, Cheiron's business affairs manager/co-founder, says "everyone will keep on working as usual. We're just moving studios and changing the name of our company." Clients including Backstreet Boys -- for whom Martin penned the smash hit "I Want It That Way" -- and Steps will be retained. -- Kai R. Lofthus, Stockholm
