The Wall Street Journal reports that Burger King will heavily promote the Backstreet Boys as you've never seen them --- starring as caped superheroes in a comic book and on an upcoming Web-based cartoon series. In what could be among the most expensive ad campaigns ever, the fast-food chain, currently backing the Boys' concert tour, will soon be offering $2.99-apiece action figures of the Boys --- Nick, Howie, A.J., Kevin and Brian --- in the guises of Power Lord, Ninja-Man, Top Speed, Ordnance and Illusioneer. The first Backstreet comic book, published in February at a steep $10 a copy, reportedly sold out its 50,000 print run in five weeks. Stan Lee, of Stan Lee Media ("X-Men,'' ''Spider-Man''), is the brain behind the Backstreet comics. The cartoon on the Web is due to premiere Sunday.
