- Date: Mar 24, 2000 [Please note that N Sync had nothing whatsoever to do with this. This act of violence took place near by. It could have just as easily happened at a 98 Degrees or BSB autograph signing session.] By: Ian Robertson TORONTO- Screams from fans of the pop band N Sync drowned out the sound of gunfire across from a downtown autograph session yesterday. Even Toronto cops providing security at the HMV store didn't hear a shot that hit a young man in the leg, Sgt. Ed Lamch said. "We called off the officers heading there because there were no victims and no one appeared to have heard anything," he said. "Then we learned a victim had shown up at (a hospital)." Robert Trowhill, who works down the street, said he heard a "popping noise." A man "was holding his leg saying 'I've been shot, I've been shot,'" Trowhill said. The street was closed by police who questioned fans of the pop band, in town to mark an album release.
