Gunpowder Scent

It was last night on a fireworks display
We used to gaze stars every holiday,
Our hearts were delighted before;
Now it seems I'm back on my own again
Still with you is what I pretend
To be just in case you would open up the door.

We have changed and live separate ways
So we can see our efforts never put to waste,
I had once a hangover of your kiss;
Throwing all the pictures and love letters
And place all into a shredder,
I can never stand off like this.

Yesterday it was fun
But today, girl, you're gone
I don't miss the day when we're together;
But today is New Year's Day
Burn all the memories away
Until it smells into a gunpowder scent,
Our love's already gone.

It's okay, I'll accept the fact
That we're never meant to be
And we're never gonna make it last.
