one of the only reasons i tuned in to watch the vma awards was to see the boys, especially as in england it was not shown until 2.00am in the morning. luckily they were on early and as soon as they appeared they lit up the stage as only they could. i was horrified when jamie foxx offered that bottle to them, i was disgusted. what an absolute pratt, over here we haven't even heard of him, and i wonder why!!!!!!! backstreet boys have earned great respect over here in the uk through years of hard work, extreme talent and just for being them! people like him, mr foxx will never breakthrough and earn any respect by getting off on other peoples troubles to raise a laugh. i saw a report on mtv yesterday 9/10/01 showing the boys travelling to their show after they had presented the award, aj was so dignified only saying "i have nothing to say", but nick said nobody messes with the backstreet! all us true backstreet fans along with aj, nick, kevin, brian and howie know that backstreet boys will be around long after the 'ugly' mr fox has finished shooting off at the mouth, thank god!!!!!! god bless you all, sarah, england

To the millions of Backstreet Boys fans and to Nick, Howie, AJ, Brian and Kevin, to their honies and wives, to their Families:

I've read all that my heart can read about the fiasco the MTV awards became that night for all of us. I couldn't watch the program because I read in People magazine that Jamie Foxx would take pockshots at AJ, Ben Affleck, even Myriah. He said that no one would commit suicide over what he would say. Well he's very wrong. In a sense, none of the Guys did, but they were hurting over what happened to AJ and only they know just how much AJ hurt over his addiction too. Have we all forgotten the pain on all their faces as they confronted their loss with their fans around the world via a poignant TV interview? I can still remember the pain I saw and felt for them. I know how much it has cost them in terms of concerts, rival groups, lowly comedians like Foxx, Leno and Letterman who get "high marks" for trashing personal tragedy in the face of triumph. I don't like what I see in these empty award shows. I don't want to support them if they can't be classy and fair. I'm a nurse and I see what kids do to themselves when they can't overcome similar problems of addiction, when life isn't fair, when people cause others pain. It's really cruel, unkind and desperate.

Yet,look at these guys. In spite of all of this, they continue to be the consummate, passionate talented performers we have come to admire. They love to sing, to smile, to make us smile and laugh, and overcome whatever makes our lives difficult. We are drowning in their songs, their talent, what they give to us and we to them. Guys if you are reading this, know this: you make so many people so very happy with your music. No award can capture this, no moonman can say it better than what you read in these testimonials right here on this website. Jamie Fox cannot extinguish in you what your fans feel deep in their hearts for you, your talents, or your songs. If only to say this, we want and will wait for more no matter how long it takes. BSB - serving millions worldwide. Love to all BSB fans and to the Guys. Keep singing, smiling, and loving! Screw the moonman; you've got millions of earthlings waiting to love you through anything!

I was completely disgusted by the comments made by Jamie Foxx at the VMA's. It doesn't matter who the jokes were being made about, alcoholism is nothing to laugh at. I have witnessed what this disease can do to people, and I find absolutely nothing funny about it. I am boycotting MTV until an apology is made to AJ and to anyone out there who has to deal with this disease.

i guess u start telling stupid jokes when u have no good material, this must be Jamie Foxx's excuse ,i don't find it cool at all when he would make mean comments to aj ,i mean come jamie u pretty much stunk,I don't really care about bsb winning any awards ,cause i would still find them cool if they didn't win any awards,so hopefully next year they get a better host,oh and mtv some advice GET CHRIS ROCK BACK U NEED HIM BADLY!

You know what guys? I think what Jamie Foxx said was wrong, don't get me wrong..but he got his payback for it. The whole world saw how NOBODY laughed, and for a comedian that's like a death sentance right there. He's obviously an asshole, and no petitions, or bitching on a backboard will change that.

This year's VMA's were a little better than last year's hosts (remember the Wayan's Brothers?), but it wasn't as great as Chris Rock. Jaimie Fox had his humourus moments. On the other hand, I felt he was really insulting in the beginning not only to the Backstreet Boys, but also to Jennifer Lopez. I can't believe he said that JLo will always be Puffy's girl when her fiancee was sitting right next to her!! Jaimie Fox could have just stopped at the "Long Island Ice Tea" joke, but he took it a little too far with the Champagne Bottle bit, but AJ zinged him back by saying he was "64 days sober and counting!" so that has to count for something.. u know??

Alright here it goes....

I, personally, thought that the VMA's were a lot of hype and no follow through. I was pretty disappointed with the show in general. As for what this board is *really* addressing... I thought what Jamie Fox had to say was tacky. However I do not think that a petition is going to get anywhere or truely prove anything. AJ knows that you all love and support him and were as upset with the whole thing as his bandmates. You could here the boo's and disbelief when he totally crossed the line and then some with the champange diddy after the award was handed out. The thing is, you guys, this is how it goes. Jamie made fun of quite a few other people as well. Rosie made that comment about Whitney and the "doobie brothers" on the Grammy's.... all through award show history someone is the butt of the joke. It is unfortunate that these people are in the spotlight and anything and everything that they do or go through is up for public display and in this case mockery. I think that AJ deserves some credit because that man conducted himself gracefully and maturely through the whole thing. His response to Fox's ridiculing "I'm not saying anything... if I got upset over every comment someone made over this...." I'm not saying it's right I'm just saying that that is the way it goes. Everyone at the awards and everyone tuning in at home knows that it was tasteless and really uncalled for. Perhaps this will make you more sensitive people in your daily lives. Remember that awkward and hurt feeling you had after Fox made those remarks and think twice before you lay into someone for their hair, or weight, or braces. We are all human and have our own impurities. No one is perfect and the sooner we accept each other's faults and become patient and loving the sooner we won't have to comment on issues such as this.

Hiya, it's me the pest. Agusta is right. We are fans, we biker and fight amongst ourselves, we bitch a moan about them not winning an award. IT'S WHAT FANS DO!!!!! WE as backstreet boys fans feel we have certian obligations towards a group who is almost always rediculed and laughed at. We are here to fight the battles that they can't. WE are here to fight for what we believe in. We don't let anyone get in our way, and if they do we say something. So if some idiot named Jamie Foxx picks on someone from our group...WE ARE GOING TO GET PISSED!!!

P.s: there is a local college that is having homecoming in oct. and their comedy act will be...who else Jamie foxx!! plus almost everyone in my family went there so 9 times out of ten I will be there.

Excuse me, Christina, but you said Aj's problem is fixed?! Maybe you should research, girl. Alcoholism doesn't get 'fixed'. It IS an ongoing problem that most people don't recover from. There is no such thing as fixed. Do you honestly believe that the cravings that alcoholics have just go away forever? Why do you suppose that there are so many AA groups and other support groups for alcoholics? Perhaps you should think before you post next time. Anyway, the point I want to get to is that there is a petition going around demanding a public apology from Foxx and MTV. Please sign it! http://www.petitiononline.com/kindness/petition.html
thanks,

Honestly, I am with everyone 200%, but I can't help but wonder if that Backstreet Boys might be a little upset with how we are reacting. I mean would they really want us to be expressing our hate like this? Before you start to hate me, just think about that before your next post. Don't get me wrong, I love BSB a lot, i just think maybe we should show more support for BSB and less hate towards other people. Sorry to whoever I made mad.....
Anyway, this has been posted a lot, but does anyone know if Brian grabbed the champagne bottle or not?
