To be honest my group of friends were happy for them and it was about time. The deserve to be happy and I am a teen who will listen to them no matter what. :O)

The Backstreet Boys and why we like them that way
02/17/00
I feel safe in saying there is no bigger fan of the Backstreet Boys than I. I can't imagine anyone being more excited to see them in person, even if it is in a place as big as the Greensboro Coliseum.
I am Julia Greer, a student at Kiser Middle School. I love the Backstreet Boys. But I am not alone in my love for the hottest band in music today. The group will appear Sunday at the Coliseum, and I am not surprised the show
took only 78 minutes to sell out. Everyone wants to see them perform. For me it will be my third concert and I can't wait!
Everyone knows about the Backstreet Boys - they have been together for at least six years. They have toured in the United States and Europe and have become international stars. They have recently won many awards, proving their popularity and abilities. But why do kids from 3 to 33 love them? What draws us to them? Is it luck or hard work that has brought them fame and fortune? Or is it cute faces and angelic voices? I would like to tell you why I love them and why my friends do.
First, I like the Backstreet Boys because they are the best group in the music world. Their songs have such a great beat that you can't help but dance along. And, hey, you can understand the lyrics so you can sing along, too.
It does not hurt that they are great to look at even when they are standing still. My room is plastered with posters, pictures and clippings about the group. Following the Backstreet Boys is like a hobby for my friends and me.
"The Backstreet Boys are a group that comes along once in a lifetime," says my friend Carrie Pratt of Climax. "No matter what kind of music you listen to, there is one Backstreet Boys' song that you like. That proves they have a sound
that nobody can compete with."
Carrie's favorite Backstreet Boy is Brian, but my best friend, Jenna Baker, says, "I think A.J. is the hottest Backstreet Boy of
all because he sings wonderfully and he is very cute." It is good that there are five Backstreet boys so we don't all have to have the same favorite. Even my mom likes Kevin because he, at 29, is not so "obnoxiously young."
Let's face it: Getting your parents to like a group you like is essential if they are going to let you listen to the group's music. Nobody's mom is going to drive around listening to what they think is "racket." My mom actually likes the
Backstreet Boys' music. I have come home from school and caught her cleaning away to "Millennium." She says, "Cute, clean-cut
guys singing perky songs - what's not to like?"
I think my mom and her friends don't mind how they look, either. They think the older Boys are "hotties" like Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias.
My dad likes them too, and I'm not ashamed to have him read the lyrics.
"The Backstreet Boys I can trust," he says. "Julie can buy their CDs, listen to them and attend a concert, and I don't have to worry about explicit lyrics or cursing."
I wouldn't be going to the concert if my parents didn't approve. I pay for my own tickets, but they would not allow me to spend my own money on things they don't approve of.
I have listened to their music for three years after being a fan of Hanson. Many of my friends followed Hanson as they now follow the Backstreet Boys. But Hanson didn't mature with us. They still look like little boys to us now. Their
music lacked variety. They didn't sing about relationships and growing older.
While the Backstreet Boys are the hottest boy band out there today they are not the only one. N-Sync, LFO, and 98 Degrees are modeled after Lou Pearlman's creation. Pearlman put the Backstreet Boys on the map and had great success.
He followed the formula with N-Sync and they, too, have been a success. But the difference between the Backstreet Boys and these other
boy bands for me is that they are individually very talented and that talent makes for a better performance. Their choreography on stage and in their videos is unmatched. They work very hard to put on a good show.
The Backstreet Boys are also nice guys. They feel it is important to share their success, so they give money from concerts to
charities and organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. They also have tickets auctioned at Tickets.com where all the proceeds go to their foundation. I bought tickets there for their
appearance in Charlotte tonight.
I like being able to follow the Backstreet Boys on the Internet. The best site is the official www.backstreetboys.com. There
are sites from fans all around the world and just in the past week a new site about the Backstreet Boys comics has started at www.backstreetproject.com.
Like a lot of kids, I am eagerly awaiting this Sunday's concert. We listen to the Backstreet Boys' CDs all of the time, but seeing and hearing them in person is the best. I saw them in September when they started this tour in
Charlotte and can hardly wait for them to come to my hometown. They put on a very good show - lots of special effects and costume changes make it very exciting.
So my friends and I will be there Sunday when the Boys come to our hometown. I did not get the best seats but I'm in the building and will enjoy every minute of Concert No. 3. It is going to be great!

I think it's great that Brian and Kevin have foudn girls that they want to spend the rest of their lives with. Sure, it kinda takes some fun out of "loving" them, but they'll still be our beloved BSB. NOthing will change that! Just be happy that our Boys are happy. KTBSPA!

I am kinda happy that Ryan and Seven are getting married, because that means that the Backstreet Boys are gonna either break up, or lose all of their fans, because that is what always happens when a member of some stupid teen idol band gets married.here are the reasons why i will be happy:
1. my older sister won't be yakking about how "dreamy" the sexaholic, who is R.J. anymore.
2.i won't hafta waste my poetic ability on making poems about how frickin' stupid they are.
3.everytime i open my locker i wont hafta stare at a dick parter picture, because the person i share a locker with is upsessed with him
4.there will be more than 15 out of the 25 girls in my grade who know that they all used to be girls (could ya guess i was one of them)
5.people won't waste there stuff on ryan littrell pictures no more
6. korn, limp bizkit, and blink182 will be number one on TRL again!!!
i am also happy that they are gonna lose all of their fans because dick parter will be in debt because he can't afford all of his alchol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bye,
jamie

Ok Ok, First and formost, Conguatulations to Brian and Kevin, the best to you!and second, ya'll make me sick, to think that you would just leave them like that because they are hot (yes they are all
pretty hot), but you know it's not just their looks that makes them sell music. It's the music itself. Personally it hurts
all the rest of the fans if you go off and start liking the stupid 'n suck or 'n stink, whatever you want to call the,
dudes. It's like hello, 'n stink didn't write a song saying how much they love you and they didn't come first and they
copy BSB (JIVE records, hint hint) and etc. etc. etc.
You are the ones that make BSB who they are, there is something about them that doesn't give them that stupid label, of
course, come on, you know it, a "boy band". 'n stink is a "boy band" always will be!!!!
Oh, and I think, I need to give a shout out to miss what-her-name, ASHLEIGH (read her stupid take on this topic, date FEB.
19). why because she said their music suck (right, whatever), she said she was going to move on to 'n stink, (go ahead
girlfriend), She just like BSB for their looks.
fine, you know, what ASHLEIGH, we the BSB fans, don't need you. all that you said about BSB in your whatever you want
to call it, goes right back to your face. first BSB will be here forever because the rest of their fans will keep them here,
'n stink , doesn't have talent, their music sucks, their bad looking a'holes or JA's, their dance moves suck, heck they
probably even suck themselves. if you know what I mean..... maybe I should quit there.
because if I keep going, there might be some not so nice words. since I have already starting say those words.
Anyway, I don't care If she want to go like 'n stink, then all i have to say is, let her go in her loser way!
the rest of the BSB fans, lets prove her wrong.
Ok
Peace out!
I love you Nick!

i think it is great that they r growing up and they can now say that they r getting married and not be worried.i think that if they r happy more wonderful music will come out of them. they deserve 2 be happy and not 2 care about what other people think. If kevin is happy and brian is happy thats all that matters.Boyzone has 4 members marred and one that is gay, and they still have fans. BSB will be alive no matter if all of them get married, because its the music that counts not the love lives.I think that the immature fans have 2 realize that they 2 r getting older, Kevin is almost pushing 30, and most people his age have familes already. they r getting older and have 2 start planning thier lives sooner or later. But common some of u think u will have a chance?? yea u can fantasise about that but there is also millions of girls competition.

I have to say that when I first heard the news I started to cry. But then I realized that I cried cuz I was happy for them. Kevin and Brian have finally found who they want to spend the rest of their lives with. We the fans should be happy for them not sending them emails saying that we hate them.CONGRATULATIONS Kevin and Brian!!!!!

To Ashleigh, you can stop posting your crap over and over, if you can't tell we really don't care what you say and don't agree with you. Sure there are some that MAYBE do, however from what I see, the majority don't so if you think that by posting that crap over and over you are going to convert people to thinking that you are right, you are so very wrong, get over it, go over to N'Sync and leave us true BSB fans alone. You've stated your position on this and that you no longer like BSB so get out!

I'm happy for them! They're growing up, which is a good thing. The only "teenybopper" bands that were able to survive were the ones that grew up as their audience did.I don't think it's going to break up the group. Kevin and Brian have been going out with them a LONG time, so it's not like the other guys are going to have a hard time dealing with having them around. They've been around with them for years already.
Yeah, maybe some people will stop liking them because of this, but they weren't real fans in the first place. And besides, if they were only interested in the guys for their looks, they probably wouldn't be fans for very long, anyway.
Anyway, best wishes to Brian and Kevin! http://www.piddirect.com/chris/bsb.htm

This is the Best news that could happen right now, for any of us Backstreet fans. It means that they are proving they're about the music, and they can count on their fansto be mature. I really appreciate their honesty, and I'm
a huge fan for the rest of my life.
To the little girl named Ashleigh, it is really better for
the Backstreet Boys if you go ahead and become an 'NSync fan
instead. The Backstreet Boys have always deserved better
than teenyboppers who aren't mature enough to appreciate
them, but fortunately there are less and less of them.
This is also good news because it will rid them of those.
If little girls who don't like them for the music go to
'NSync, that is bad news for "NSync. The more teenybopper
fans you have, the shorter your music career.
All I have to say, I'm looking forward to the Grammys, to
my next Millennium concert, and to the new CD. The Boys
are the best boyband of alltime, and just keep on breaking
the rules. I hope this news will rid them of the immature
fans like ashleigh who dragged them down. those fans will
now go and drag 'nsync down, and the sooner the better.
KTBSPA! I pity the fool who underrates the Backstreet Boys! :-)

I personally am very happy for both Kevin and Brian. I see no need to hate them or not be a fan anymore because they've decided to marry, they should be happy, right? All you fans out there who seem to think that your chances of dating any of them are over need to realize they were over before you even thought about it. They meet hundreds of girls each day they dont have time to sit around and get to know a fan. Most of you are too young for them anyway with the exception of Nick who many fans are around the same age. The fans should be happy for them, Honestly wouldn't you rather have them be married and happy still doing what they love-Music or would you want them unhappy and being poor musicians. The fans who aren't their fans anymore because of this weren't really fans to begin with.

I agree with some others, if you're mad over this you need to grow up. No, Brian and Kevin's engagement is NOT the 'kiss of death' to the Backstreet Boys. Actually, I think this is not only good for Brian and Kev, but also good for the whole group. This is seperating the 'true' fans from the fans that they claim they are. No 'true' fan would be willingly putting Brian and Kevin down for making a very important decision in their lives that they know they're ready for and no 'true' fan would convert over to 'N Sync (no offense if you've already liked them, you know what I mean)just because of this. Consider their feelings for once and quit being so selfish. And for all those that are 'true' fans, KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE!!

The one thing i don't understand is that why is it that in every interview the boys ALWAYS say that they are single and don't have TIME for girlfriends BUT all of a sudden two of them are engaged!!That doesn't make any sense....how can you have no girlfriend yet the next month announce that you are engaged!!!Can someone please explain that to me CUZ I don't seem to understand!!!well ne ways just because two of them are engaged doesn't mean that I am going to stop listening to them cuz I really like their MUSIC and thats all that really matters..but this last line goes for all the other bands....don't lie or mislead your fans!!NICK I sure hope you won't be getting engaged anytime soon!

Hello everyone! I think it's great that Kevin and Brian are getting married! All that I have to say is that I just hope it doesn't affect the Backstreet Boys as a group, you know? I don't know what I'd do if they broke up or if either Kev or Bri left! But they both say they love what they're doing, and I'm sure Kristin and LeighAnne will understand because they're in the business too. Congratulations Brian and Kevin! Well, KTBSPA! Bye! **AMY**
