Submitted by Jill from Decatur USA Date: Sun Feb 20 16:58:57 2000 okay, i realize this is number 4. but this reguards my last message about the suicides. in case you haven't heard, 4 girls have killed themselves over this issue. and i have gone other places and seen girls threatening to kill themselves if brian and/or kevin doesn't break it off. i want to stress again that this is NOT worth killing yourself over. i should hope that all of you are mature enough to deal with this in your own way. but please, DO NOT KILL YOURSELF. this should be a happy time for them. i don't think they would like to hear that someone killed themself because you decided to get married. so please, if you are considering such a terrible and final act, GET HELP. by the way, all of you who are sad about this, look at the big picture. they are happy. so why can't you be happy for them? i have heard from so many of you that all you want for them is happiness and they deserve the best. so now, when the decide to get married to the one person that makes them ultimately happy, suddenly these remarks go forgotten. just, think about this. thank you for reading this, and if you have any negative comments to me, say em to my face, (well e-mail) rather than in another message because that is really rude people. I didn't include the girlfriends/fiancees in that article as, I thought, it went without saying. The girlfriends/fiancees are part of their private lives...read: none of my business, or yours. First of all, I'm glad that Backstreet.net has this open forum. This is for the fans to discuss - the site is not offering an opinion one way or the other - so they're not violating that "no stuff about their private lives" thing. Secondly, Congratulations to Brian & LeighAnne and Kevin & Kristin. May you all have long, happy lives together. Thirdly, to the so-called fans furious about this news: A) Get over yourselves - you wouldn't have gotten any of the fellas anyway because 1) you're most likely too young and it would be illegal for any of them to date you; and - most importantly, 2) they wouldn't want to date someone like you in the first place because you're shallow and fickle and a conditional fan. You're only a fan because of the way they look, not for the music. You're only a fan IF they fulfill some deluded fantasy of yours. You WANT Brian or Kevin? Really? Well, how's it feel to want? There are people in this country and all over the world that want a warm place to sleep at night, a home to live in as opposed to living on the streets, a job, a cure for the disease that's slowly killing them and you want a fantasy playmate. Well, let's just forget about world hunger and stopping homelessness and finding cures for Cancer and Lupus (the diseases which took Kevin's father and Howie's sister, respectively) and get you that fantasy. GROW UP! The Backstreet Boys are here to make music. They are not here to be your personal love toy, no matter how many pictures you have on your wall, or whatever. B) The Backstreet Boys are not breaking up - Does anyone not remember that they just signed a five-CD contract? That means that they have to stay together for five more CDs. They'll be working on one after the spring tour and then there's a fall tour. Sounds to me like they're making plans for the future as a group. C) You wanna switch to NSuck now JUST because two of the BSB - that you've in the past sworn that you love and adore - have found happiness with another woman that YOU'VE KNOWN ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF FOR HOW LONG NOW?! 1) You don't truly love them because if you did, you'd know that love sometimes means having to let the person you love go. Still wanna switch? 2) All I have to say is "Bye Bye Bye" Email me with hate mail if you want - I really don't care - that's the beauty of free speech. Before you do, and I realize I'm asking you to think so this should be interesting, put yourselves in the same situation. What if that fantasy came true and you were dating Brian, Kevin, whichever and you were hopelessly, madly in love - real love - and this wonderful man that you love got down on one knee and asked you to spend the rest of your life with him and you said yes and people went crazy and started calling YOU names and started hoping for a divorce and everything else? How would you feel? So, what gives you the right to treat LeighAnne and Kristin any differently, or the fellas? That's my two cents - I'm gonna go toast the fellas' happiness with some real fans. Fans that love them and respect them, first and foremost, for their music and for the wonderful real men that they are off-stage. These guys bust their butts for us and what do you anklebiters do? At first I was kinda scared thinking that it might split up the group or what ever but I realized that everything should be all right and as long as they are happy I am too. I am really tired of hearing all these supposed fans saying, "I think it sucks! Kev/Bri should be marrying me!" or my favorite "I hate it, I am going to like N Sync now and so will a lot of their other fans!" If you think that Brian or Kevin are going to be walking down the street and see a girl much younger than them and say "that girl right there is the girl I am going to dump my girlfriend for and marry her" Then you really need to wake up. Sure it's fun to dream, I did too at one point but then I realized there's a million to one chance of me marrying one of them sure you might meet them and maybe go on a date with one of them but I highly doubt you will have the time to develop a relationship for the amount of time it takes to get to marriage. Please girls, just realize that it's not going to happen and be happy for them. You can still dream but don't take it out on the boys or their girlfriends because they aren't going to marry you. The next thing that I have to say is that because 2 of the boys are getting married you shouldn't go run to N Sync. If you really are the fan that you say you are and you really love them enough to get hysterical over them getting married then you wouldn't ditch them because of this. Just be happy that they love us enough and thought that we would support them enough that they could tell us this right away instead of a week before they actually get married. Please realize that it is not fair to them and that they are truly happy now. I am a huge fan and always will be just as long as they don't break up over this. I would still be a fan but quite mad.
