Well....I am very upset and SURPRISED that the guys didn't win a single thing!! I thought they would have took all 5 home but I thought at least 4 or 3....But they got nothing....I personally think that Santana shouldn't have won ALL of the awards....NO DOUBT ABOUT IT BACKSTREET BOYS SHOULD HAVE GOT "ALBUM OF THE YEAR" They had the best album ever....Well....Thanks and congradulations to BSB for a awesome proformance....Thanks!

I think that the Backstreet Boys were robbed! We all know how good their music is, but it's taking the world a little longer! But who better to loose to than Sanatana? I mean, that's like loosing a "good-ness battle" to God...it really is an honor that they got nominated! :) but i wish that they had won a few awards. their performaces were really great! i think that they opened a few eyes to their abilities! They won all of the awards in my book though!

I think every single Backstreet Boys fan across the land knew that there was no way they were actually going to win. I know we all had that little shread of hope for them, but in the end we knew Santana would get it. I don't agree with Santana winning them all though, I didn't think his album was that great.

But that performance was breath taking. It was one of their best. I aslo thought TLC and Ricky Martin did a good job in their performances. When they sang with Elton John it was magic! It's nice to see the Boys collaberating(sp?) with top stars such as him.

And finally to Ka, I see what your saying, and I'll try to respect your opinions. But you can't tell us fans to change, no one can. We're not stopping the Boys from getting a Grammy. It's all about the music. Not the clean cut childish stereotypes that they have. The Backstreet Boys songs are perfectly fine, everyone likes them. If it's not broken then why fix it? So they didn't win the Grammy, doesn't mean you have to blame it on their bubblegum pop image, or us fans.

I think by not winning a Grammy this will make the Boys work even harder on making better music until they do get that Grammy.

Take care

HEY! My name is KA! My REAL NAME IS KA! And I'm not that guy that's 27 and married, I'm 17 and am still fresh in high school. And the Boys are the DA BOMB! Anyone who knows music, knows that the boys sing like angels and no, Nick isn't the only one with the voice. There's the rest of the boys. And hey, anyone that knows music, knows that there are a variety of music out there, and singing is a form of music, and just how a person sings is a different variety of music. So, don't say that Nick is the only one with the good voice, cause the rest are just as amazing.

And to whoever said that KA is a dumb name, I'm sorry, but that really hurt my feelings...

I really apreciate the performances of Backstreet Boys at the Grammy but I was sad to know that Sting won the Grammy. I was sure that bsb will won it but ... And Santana won too much Grammy. I'm sad for bsb but they was very good and when you sing with Elton John, it's because you are very popular so... The show was very excellent.

A fan of bsb

I am referring to a commment made by a person of the name KA. I have read your series of comments and would like to add to them, or rather criticise them.

Being a person that works in the music and entertainment business for several years, and being fortunate enough to have met the Backstreet Boys, I am sorry to say that the comments you made on them are infact WRONG!

When I last saw the Backstreet Boys, they were working extremely hard on creating yet another award winning album. Despite the critcism they got from the media when they released 'Millennium' which I believe has sold well over 20 million copies so far (far more than Carlos Santana will ever sell), that never put them off. You may fail to remember that on the album 'Millennium' both Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson BOTH wrote songs, and they also co-wrote a number of songs. Not all of their songs are based on love too. You are obviously not as much of a fan as you say you are otherwise you would of noticed that 2 of the songs on the album are based on another subject, fans and parents. 'Larger Than Life' is a song dedicated to the fans, who have supported them all the way through and was co written by Brian. Its a way to say thank you, because to go and shake each fans hand for SUPPORTING them would take forever. 'The Perfect Fan' is a song written by Brian. It gives thanks to their mothers for supporting them through the hard times. Also, AJ, Howie and Nick have written songs for other artists.

The guys have been touring since June of 1999 and despite all the chances they have had, they didnt take a time out. They promoted a new single, a new video which is soon to be released. Press conferences, interviews and rehearsals for a new leg of the tour which they extended due to popular demand.

A lot of the content on the new album has been written by the Backstreet Boys, to prove to the media and people like you that they do actually have talent! When the Backstreet Boys were formed way back in the early nineties, they were not chosen based on looks. It was because each individual could sing and had other talents, and all 5 of them together made the perfect harmony. Not only can Nick sing, but Brian, AJ, Howie and Kevin can too!! Also, they can dance and all of them can play instruments. I do believe and I have heard it myself, that Brian, AJ and Howie can all play a wicked guitar, Nick can play the drums, and Kevin plays the piano, so does that still make them a boyband? My definition of a boyband are a group of boys that are picked from an audition based on looks, thrown together and given some songs written by others to sing. Then they make a video and do some dancing. But when I saw the Backstreet Boys perform, they picked up instruments during one performance and played one of their songs all by themselves without the band, and like I said before they all have the ability to write songs of their own! Not only that, but they can sing acapella also, which banishes the rumours of them being a manufactured boyband.

I want to quote you on a comment you made on your statement:- "Think of the Beatles ... they were the biggest Pop group ever ... they went on to some very innovative projects. BSB can do the same."

I can recall...although I am a little too young, the time the Beatles or John Lennon should I say, claimed that they were bigger than GOD. Can you remember what that did to their reputation? It ruined them, and it came with a lot of criticism. It seems that the Beatles let fame get to their heads. But the Backstreet Boys have kept their feet firmly on the ground and have never once claimed that they are bigger or better than anyone else. I would hope that the BSB never do the same..!

Also on this comment:- "The grammys are voted on by music industry professionals ... not the local high school BSB fan club. These people have an ear for quality that can be measured beyond "How cute Nick is when he smiles during the IWITW video"

If that is so...then why did the likes of TLC and Christina Augilera win? Now, I dont have anything against either of those artists and admire them very much, but it seems that if the Grammies were purely based on music industry professionals..then they would never have been nominated and artists like Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, and Elton John would win all the time. The music industry has broadened since the last time you noticed and has opened its doors to the more modern type of music.

Oh and this comment too:- "The main thing restricting the Backstreet Boys can be found in their fans: quit calling shows loading up the voting in their favor, quit voting on TRL for songs that really aren't that good (SMTMOBL) ... and most of all quit painting your faces and telling reporters how you are going to marry Kevin. The media and music industry will never take BSB serious until this atmosphere disappears. In fact, to most adults ... BSB is sort of a childish endeavor. Here today ... gone tomorrow. It doesn't have to be this way."

I dont know how old you are..but I do remember my mother telling me that she used to do the same thing when the Beatles were big. She painted her face and used to scream out the names of George, Ringo, Paul and John. Did that ever stop them from winning awards and gaining recognition? NO!! It made them more popular because the media picked up on something that was going to be big, and it was! And I think that some adults would agree with me when I say that, the BSB is not a childish endeavour. The Backstreet Boys music appeals to a huge age range and has fans that rise into the 70's. I saw a 87 year old lady at a concert in Birmingham, England and she was really enjoying herself.

But at the end of the day..they do not need to prove to people like you and the media that they have talent. They have proved this by being the most sucessful band in the world, having a sell out tour for every date in every country and state all over the world, for having a 3 number one selling albums, for being number one on the music charts all over the world, for setting up charities for certain diseases and funds, for donating money to charities, for singing with some of the worlds most popular artists (Shania Twain, Elton John) and many other memorable things.

So, it seems that a lot of the comments you said were in fact wrongly made and I am sure that a lot of the BSB fans would agree with me. I cant really understand what your problem is, or was..but I only put it down to not really looking into what the Backstreet Boys are about. Each video has a meaning that touchs the heart of every person that sees its. For example 'Show Me The Meaning' is about loss, whether it be through death or other. Now, surely you can relate to that? 'Larger Than Life' was a tribute to the fans, 'Everybody' is a spontaneous, original video.

Well..I hope you understand what I am saying to you. 'Dont judge a book by its cover', because that is what you have done! If you have never met the Backstreet Boys in person and seen how hard they work and all the effort they put into it, then you will never really be able to put into words what they are like. You are only saying what you see on TV or read in a magazine, and most of the time that is not enough!

Thanks for your time, I hope I didnt bore you too much!

Ciao!

Jen
