I think the backstreet boys are going to be around for a long time. Look at how much they did over all these years. When they first came out the was not a big hit. But they did not give up. And look at where they is now. They are the BEST boy group around today. I love the backstreet boys. Their music is the best. The backstreet boys will be here for a long time. BSB RULES!!

Unlike most of their competitors, BSB has a larger fanbase

with fans of all different ages. They defintely appeal to

more than just teens unlike their predecessors. Plus, they

are played on more than Top 40 radio(which I think is a

fickle market, anyways.) You can hear them on adult

contemporary as well. And the move to get away from

the likes of the Wrights and Pearlman, who only care

about the big $ & finding groups that follow each year's

latest trend, has helped and will help BSB outlast the others

for awhile.

Alright, for TWO years I have been saying that I will love the Backstreet Boys forever and ever. I STILL believe that. This "article" really got me pissed. The critics think we (the fans) only like them for their looks and stuff, but they're wrong. I know that some people do, but the majority of the fans enjoy their music. Just because most of us are teens doesn't mean we aren't true. The Boys will be around for a long time, no matter if they're on the front cover of every teeny-bopper magazine or not. They have worked really long and hard for all the success they're getting and I seriously doubt they'll let it all run out. They're here to bless the world with their music, not their bodies.

It has taken me an hour to read all the responses but it was worth it to see what everyone has been feeling and thinking about this article and many articles that have constantly

limited the Backstreet Boys time. My opinion is probably

the same as everyone else that has posted. For whatever

reason, my gut feeling says Backstreet Boys will last and prevail whatever the critics say. First off most critics

will not even acknowledge the older crowd that does exist. If they did acknowledge it then their theories would be out the

door that Backstreet Boys only cater to one demographic.

If the critics actually listen to Adult Contemporary stations, Backstreet Boys make up most of the music rotation. Also the Backstreet Boys have had a hit on AC radio since

1997. That is pretty impressive. That is were many of the difference start with New Kids and Backstreet Boys. New Kids

music would never be on AC stations. The marketing for Backstreet Boys have been impressive state side and further more internationally. That is also another point the critics miss is the international fan base. Compared to the other groups- BSB has a big international fan base and with an international community that has many groups out there for

Backstreet boys to still dominate and gain fans is nothing to sneeze at.

This group travels to the countries that helped them out. Granted not as much as they used to because of higher demands but they are still touring in Europe, Canada and hopefully get back to Latin America (where they are really popular), Asia etc... The point I am making is this.

The Backstreet Boys have many factors that will keep them around for a while. Their vocal abilitiy, the manner they

have grown and brought in more fans on board, the Adult Contemporary market, the international market, their

maturing their music, the touring etc..... Sometimes the media overlooks what these guys and many musicians have gone through to get to this place. They are not going to give it up that easily for some critic that sits in front of a computer and tries to predict their future. I would like to see them go up on stage and give their hearts out and see what happen. This group has worked to hard to let this go that quickly. As for their status who knows what will happen but this is one thing that Backstreet Boys will be around for a long time, in fans memories, cd players, videos, experiences, photos etc. No critic can take that away. Finally, I place all my money behind the Backstreet Boys out of all the groups out there they are going to make it. :O)

I am not afraid to say it either. :O)

well it is very easy I think to see that the BSB were an exclusion form the boy band rule from the beginning

, just because they are 5 guys does not mean that

they have to be just like NKOTB. First of all through my experience , I hated NKOTB, I couldn't stand them

whatsoever, but I LOVE the BSB for the simple reaon

that they have the entire package of talent , motivation , dedication , and complete humbleness and honesty that

NKOTB did not possess, and that most stars do not possess today.

Johnny Wrighty does give the BSB some credit and that must be admired. THe BSB have and continue to grow with

the audience

, you see there is a big difference in the audience makeup in a BSB concert

compared to an NSYNC or 98* concert . the BSB audience includes everyone form 5 - 90years of age. While in a BOIYBAND

audience the range is probably 10-15 ( excluding parents because they usually don't enjoy these concerts---ears hurt too much)

THe BSB publicise themselves in a extremely adult like and positive way but they manage to

keep their fans close. I do agree with the lady on the boy band craze being over next summer because

I find this to be the truth . bands like LFO and all these other semi talented groups do not have the special touch

that the BSB have had nearly 6 years to work on before they really made it BIG. THe BSB are NOT a BOY BAND

It took them 6 years to make it

not overnight like NSYNC etc etc, they broke the doors down and will NEVER BE A BOYBAND.

for NSYNC it seems like due to mismanagement their time has run out and perhaps if they had more time

they could perhaps grow with their audience BUT NSYNC IS A BOYBAND and unlike the BSB ,all these

problems which are occuring are turning away a majority of their fan base. OVERALL the BSB will last for

a long time if they cntinue growing with their fans and keep improving like other artists have done to last

many decades such as madonna. arrowsnith ETC ETC. KTBSPA ------ finally it seems like the critics are seeing

the BSB perhaps as NOT a BOYBAND but a group of 5 guys with a long career ahead of them. ( just wait till the GRAMMY"S

I am sure they will be nominated at least ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

At first I was enraged by this artical but I gave myself time to cool down before I wrote this. I realized that the aritcle is a one-sided opininon with little fact. Yes the author is entitled to their oppinion as am I, but I very much disagree with thier opinion. I realize that the Backstreet Boys are not going to stay as popular as they are now forever but they are not about to stop. There are millions of fans like me out there who are still keeping the backstreet pride alive and plan to for years to come. i totally disagree with how they, when writing the article, grouped the BSB with the "Boy Bands". Thier comment about it not mattering that they all sound the same because they are all cute was tottally a not fair statement! They dont sound like N'Sync or 98 degrees! Its not all about the looks its about the music. Sure they're really hot and all but thats just a positive extra. All its really about is their amazing voices and the beautiful music they can make. I know that no matter how old i get i will still be enjoying thier music.Even though i wont be obsessed and buying all thier merchendise all my life there will be a younger generation that will take my place. When i attended their concert in October i saw a wide range of people. It wasnt just teenage girls it was whole families. moms, dads, little kids... they were all there. Girls AND boys! Sure their were tons of teenage girls but Backstreet boys have a wide audience! i belive that even though there are a lot of people out there that like the authors of the article, think that the boys are just an imatation of New kids on the Block, they are going to surprise the world and be arround for a long time! they are at the top and show no signs of stopping!

I just read this article, and I don't beleive in it at all. The Backstreet Boys have something no other so called "boy band" does, and I really can't explain it. It's like when I look at N Sync, they come across as a cheesy younger kid band, but when I look at the Backstreet Boys, it's like wow, they are so much more mature than all the others. I also personally think that if the fans like them now, and have this much devotion, they won't just be gone in a day. And when this whole generation is gone, they will still live on in everyone's heart and minds. And they're legend will live on for milleniums to come.

Personally, I don't think the BSB's days are numbered. I mean, sure, kids are gonna grow out of their music, it's just a part of life. But while kids are growing out of it, other kids, teens and adults are tuning into the BSB's music.

I WAS totally obsessed with them last year (their bods, faces, hair, etc). But I have realised that I should be rooting for their music and not their abs. I will probably NEVER ever get a chance to meet them, let alone go to a concert, ( They haven't come to New Zealand for a concert since they started).

Even IF they do fade away, people will remember their music, concerts and records they smashed with their albums, singles and concerts. HEY! People still remember who the Beatles were after all these years. Music is evolving into new things into the millennium (excuse the pun) So this is what I say, bring it on! The Backstreet Boys are unstoppable!!!

i THINK IT IS ALL A LIE. BSB IS GONNA BE AROUND FOR AWHILE.

Hello! I am commenting on the article "Are Their Days Numbered." While I agree that the Backstreet Boys and the other boy groups will not be around forever, I think that this article is purely opinion. And that is opinion that should be kept to themselves. The chances of them being around forever are very low, I will give them that. Heck, just look at our (I am a teenager so I am talking that age group) opinion of the Bee Gees or the Monkees. But to say that they will not be around come summer is a little presumptous. Yo have no idea what will come of them. I, personally, wish them the best of luck in the year 2000. But if you don't like them, don't say things that you are saying just because you don't like them. Because it ticks me and I'm sure other fans out there off.

I also have a comment about how you said that it will go to "Girl Power." If Britney Spears and others have been around with no conflict with the boy bands, why will they go? Plus, keep in mind, even though they are girls, they will still have just as short of a shelf life as BSB and others. Also, there are so many of them, we will probably tire of them even more quickly than the boy bands!

This time, too, when I say we, I mean everyone. Yes, there are adult fans who will gladly admit that they own Millennium. And if there were so few, then why are there so many adult fan clubs that are full of members. Just ponder taht one for awhile.

Thank you for letting me share my opinion.
