I've been reading the responses for the article "are their days numbered?" and I gotta say that it hasn't been pretty. Everyone gets so defensive when replying to this article. The people who wrote it didn't make the statistics up. They didn't invent the demise of New Kids and aren't out to get the boy bands. What they say is based on factual information. And it's true, music goes through cycles just as everything in life does and when it's pop's turn to take the backseat, groups like 'N Sync and the BSB are gonna be less essential to our everyday lives. I mean sure, they'll still be talented and cute and everything else they have going, but the demand won't be as high.

People get bored of the same thing over and over and over again. If they didn't, the human race would never have evolved to what it is today! We evolve, we change, our tastes change, our idea of what we want changes.

These people who were quoted in the article know what they're talking about. They've been there, seen it first hand and watched it dissapear. As much as you want to sit there and scream at them how wrong they are and that Nick or Brian, or whoever will always be number one in your heart, they know their stuff.

But why does this have to be a bad thing? Don't dwell on what may happen tomorrow, on what may or may not be. Enjoy them and their music and everything they give to us for today.

And no matter what happens, There'll always be the music.

this article is so true. whether i like it or not...ufortunately. You'll ever know. Now u think I will love the backstreet boys forever and ever, their never gonna be gone as long as i live! THAT, is probay what some hanson fans and spice girls fans had vowed a while ago. And look where they are now.

one thing fo sure though...bsb has this 'staying' power. their audience (like MANDY MOORE had said) is more..wide. Unlike n'sync which is rangig for mostley 10-17. bsb's 10-40. (generally) thats all i'm gonna say! BEST OF LUCK TO THEM! AND THEIR FUTURE

I think those "professionals" should judge BSB for their music, and for their talent, not for what other groups of their type have done. Just because New Kids on The Block ended doesn't mean every "boy band" will have the same fate.

I gotta admit, that article has a grain of truth in it. I mean, sure, teenyboppers grow, get bored of pop music and so on. But then again, has anyone noticed the variety of people who like BSB's music? I swear, I managed to convert my entire family into BSB lovers by playing 'Millennium' all the time! My mom totally loves Spanish Eyes, my dad loves Show Me The Meaning and my brothers (one aged 22 the other 13!) have got the dance moves to all their singles from ALAYLM to LTL down pat! What I'm trying to get at here is, I think maybe, just MAYBE, our boys HAVE got that staying power. Thay ARE maturing, and it shows in their music, their videos, their performances, everything! But, the thing is, as a friend of mine once said, after this world tour, they're gonna take a break and they could pull a 'Leo' (that is, be forgotten). But, you know what? Even if they fade away, 10 - 20 years from now, I definitely won't be ashamed to admit that I was a BSB fan. No way, cuz hey! We are Keepin' The Backstreet Pride Alive!!!!

Truthfully, I think BSB will always be together as a band. But their days of constant touring and living " Backstreet" 24/7 are going to come to an end someday. The boys are sooner or later going to want to get married and start a family. Some will settle down, some will pursue solo careers and some will venture off into new things. They may not break up, but Backstreet Boys might not always be as a whole. Either way, they'll always be remembered by us as the 5 boys who opened the doors off pop music to bigger and better possibilities.

Personally I really think that the only "boy bands" that have true staying power are definately The Backstreet Boys and maybe 98 degrees, I say this with much thought!! I know for one I will always be there to support BSB with buying CD's, merchandise and enjoying and loving the Backstreet Boys music and these beautiful men!!! I've heard alot of fantastic music in my 41 years on this earth, but honestly The Backstreet Boys are the Best of the Best, and I feel they will be around as a group for many years to come,,,,and that all of us loyal fans will be there to love and support them,,,,right!!!!!

Can we just enjoy the present and not be concerned with the future? What is meant to happen will and we are going to wear ourselves out worrying about such silliness when we should just enjoy their music NOW! That's pretty much how I feel about it =) Thanks 4 Reading =)

I think that as long as there are fans who care about the Boys then they will continue to be around and won't fade off into the background. The fans just need to keep the pride alive and not let the Boys down. They've keep going for the fans and the fans need to keep going for them.

I have to admit this article is true. I read one of the responses from a girl who's 15, and saying 25 years from now she'll still be listening to 'I Want It That Way'. I don't buy it. Musical tastes change, that's all there is to it.

I wish I didn't have to say it, but it's the truth. Maybe you'll still have a soft spot in your heart for Backstreet when you grow up, but some new albums and artists will come out, and that's the music of the time. I do love the Backstreet Boys, and I really enjoy the music, but 5 years from now, unless they grow with the fans, I won't be listening to 'Millennium' like I am now. Maybe they'll have out a new album that I'll think is great, and listen to that, but if the music sounds the same, I guarantee I won't love it like I do now.

It's just the way things are, and there's nothing you can do to change it. BSB will not become a band with longitivity like Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones. I know it. But enjoy the music now, and you won't be worrying about the future.
